CHARLIE PINK MARTIN

Mr. Charlie Pink Martin, Jr., age 73, of Crockett, passed away March 27 in the local hospital. Mr. Martin was born Feb. 1, 1926, in Crockett to the late Mr. Pink Martin and Mrs. Ada Burnette Martin.

Mr. Martin was a longtime member of Anderson Chapel United Methodist Church serving as a deacon under the current leadership of the Rev. R.C. Mayes. During World War II he served in the United States Navy. On Sept. 4, 1948, he was wed to Ludia Mae Davis, who preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1990.

Survivors include sons L.J., Joe and Charles Martin; daughters Dorothy Watson and husband Calvin, Dottie Martin and Charlene Martin; step-children Percilla Davis Lewis and Willie V. Davis; daughter-in-law Carolyn Terrell, Mary and Lois Martin; grandchildren Felicia, Evelyn, Keith, Tennille, Tonia, Joe Jr., Niketra, Natasha, Noah, Leroy, Aarone, Beronica and Kevin; great-grandchildren Shantana, Amber, Erick, Erica, Rahnesia, Brian and Chris; sister-in-law Earlie Mae Martin and Josephine Armstead; numerous relatives and friends.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by brothers J.T. Martin and Oliver Armstead and sister Lafolia Nixon.

Funeral Services for Mr. Martin were held April 13 at the South Loop Church of Christ with Bro. Q.D. Purvis officiating. Interment followed at Rockland Cemetery. Pallbeareres were Metcheal Abb, George Davis, Tommy Smith, Eric Wooten, Oscar Moore and Fred Simon.
