Salem Cemetery, Houston County, TX

Salem Cemetery

This cemetery is located a few miles north of Weldon on 230. Signs indicate this to be the Salem Cemetery, but some maps show it as two cemeteries; Salem and Adams/Little. Actually we've since found out that the Adams/Little cemetery is separate and is further down the road on private property. See second link below for some information. This is a very well cared for cemetery. The flu epidemic of 1918 seems to have hit this community hard judging from the number of burials around that time. The large number of childrens' graves also indicate the hardships suffered by this community.

For more information on the Reeves family click here.

For information regarding the Adams/Little cemetery's history and some burials, please click here. Contributed by Gene Traiteler.

Please note that the comments column contains my personal observations and things I thought would be helpful. Also, I recorded every marker, which means, one person may be recorded twice if they had two markers (i.e. a military marker in addition to their family marker). If you have any questions after viewing the list, please e-mail me at Letty Harrington.
