L. & S.A. Harrington to John R. Roach

This indenture, made and entered into this 29th day of June, A.D. 1868, between Lacy Harrington and Sarah A. Harrington, his wife, on the one part, and John R. Roach on the other part, all of the County of Trinity and State aforesaid;
WITNESSETH, That the said Lacy Harrington and Sarah A., his wife, for and in consideration of the following property and note to us in hand paid, viz:
One horse and four head of cattle, valued at One hundred and twenty Dollars, and one note bearing even date with these presents, for one hundred and thirty Dollars, payable on the first day of January, A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant, bargain, sell, convey, alien and confirm unto the said J.R. Roach, his heirs and assigns forever, all that tract or parcel of land, situated and lying in the County of Trinity, on the Trinity River, in the State of Texas, it being a survey made for Alexander Brannan, and being a part of the JOEL CLAPP half of league of land,
BEGINNING at the mouth of a branch known as Rick's Spring Branch where it enters the Trinity Rive;
THENCE W., with the same, 544 vrs· to the North line of said half league;
THENCE S. 25 E. 3900 vrs· to the river;
THENCE down the river, with its meander, 600vrs· to the place of beginning, containing Three hundred and sixty-two acres and a half of land, together with, all and singular, the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above described premises, unto the said J.R. Roach, his heirs and assigns, forever. And the said Lacy Harrington and Sarah A., his wife, the aforesaid premises unto J.R. Roach, his heirs and assigns, against the claim or claims of all and every person whomsoever do, and will warrant and forever defend by this presents.
IN WITNESS THEREOF the said Lacy Harrington and Sarah A. his wife, parties of the first part, have hereunto set their hands, made scrolls for seals, the day and year first above written.

Before me, Jos. Werner, a duly qualified Notary Public in and for the County & State aforesaid, this day personally appeared Lacy Harrington and Sarah A. his wife, whose names appear subscribed to the above deed to J. R. Roach, dated the 29th of June, 1868, and parties to the same and the said L. Harrington, who is well known to me and being examined by me acknowledged that he had signed the above instrument of writing for the purposes and considerations therein mentioned. And the said Sarah A. Harrington, wife as aforesaid, and to me well known and examined by me privily and apart from her said husband and having said deed fully explained to her, she, the said Sarah A. Harrington declared that she had willingly signed said instrument of writing and acknowledged it to be her act and deed and that she wished not to retract it.
TO CERTIFY WHICH I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal Notorial at my office in New Port this 29th day of June, A.D. 1869.

This is to certify that the within deed was filed in my office for record on the 24 day of Nov. A.D. 1869 at noon and was duly recorded by me on the same day in book "E", of the County Records for deeds, on pages 51-2 & 3.
