Amy Smart, daughter of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born March 31, 1848 in Missouri.  She was brought to Texas by her parents at age three.  She was married October 12, 1865 to William Madison Casbeer.  He served three days as a petit juror and was paid $6.00 for his services February 7, 1884, according to Williamson County District Court Criminal Minute Book 2, page 203.

She died September 13, 1924 in Lampasas County.  A descendant, Mrs. W. C. Buell, in 1961 lived in Phoenix, Arizona.  A granddaughter of Amy Smart Casbeer, Josephine Culbertson Corbin in 1984 lived in Lampasas.

 Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer born December 8, 1873

Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer, daughter of William Madison Casbeer and Amy Smart Casbeer, was born December 8, 1873 at Liberty Hill, Texas, according to Caddie Malvina Culbertson, a daughter.  She was married there August 16, 1891 to Joseph Logan Culbertson, son of John Gash Culbertson and Martha Adeline McSpadden Culbertson.  He was born January 6, 1859 at Oceola, Missouri.  He died March 31, 1957, and she died July 13, 1957.  They were buried at Liberty Hill.

John Madison Culbertson, son of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born October 8, 1893 at Liberty Hill.  He died unmarried June 2, 1934 and was buried at Liberty Hill.

Amy Adeline Culbertson, daughter of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born March 18, 1896 at Liberty Hill.  She was married February 1, 1920 at Lampasas to John William Bryson.  She died March 31, 1937 and was buried at Liberty Hill.

One son was born to them:

John Logan Bryson, son of John William Bryson and Amy Adeline Culbertson Bryson, was born March 30, 1924 at Liberty Hill.  He was married at Bertram, Texas to Arleta Marie DeSpain.  No children were born to them.

Caddie Malvina Culbertson, daughter of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born September 1, 1897 at Liberty Hill.  In 1985 she, an unmarried retired teacher, lived at Palacios, Texas.  Through her kindness the account of the descendants of Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson appear in this manuscript.

Josephine Culbertson, daughter of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born March 18, 1900 in Lampasas.  She was married November 30, 1923 at Gatesville, Texas to William Henry "Buck" Corbin.  In 1985 she, a widow, continued in Lampasas.

Gladden Clark Corbin, son of William Henry "Buck" Corbin and Josephine Culbertson Corbin, was born November 28, 1927 at Lamesa, Texas. He was married August 17, 1951 at Lampasas to Anneta Marlene Machen.

Madison Marlin "Matt" Corbin, son of Gladden Clark Corbin and Anneta Marlene Machen Corbin, was born October 25, 1952 at Lampasas.  He was married there June 1, 1974 to Una Beth Studdard

Clark Allen Corbin, son of Gladden Clark Corbin and Anneta Marlene Machen Corbin, was born November 30, 1954 in Lampasas.  In 1985 he remained unmarried.

Anneta Jo Corbin, daughter of Gladden Clark Corbin and Anneta Marlene Machen Corbin, was born February 11, 1957 at Lampasas.  She was married there April 3, 1976 to Ralph William Darrow.

Robert Roland Corbin, son of William Henry "Buck" Corbin and Josephine Culbertson Corbin, was born Novemer 16, 1933 at Lampasas.  He was married August 16, 1958 at Burnet to Avilla Pearl Machen, believed to be a sister to Anneta Marlene Machen.

Lura Leah Culbertson, daughter of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born October 19, 1903 in Lampasas.  She was married there November 14, 1931 to Thomas Herbert Norris. She died May 27, 1981 while living at Burnet.

Robert Culbertson, son of Joseph Logan Culbertson and Lucinda Isabell "Ludie" Casbeer Culbertson, was born at Lampasas February 11, 1907. He was married June 11, 1938 at Goldthwaite, Texas to Deacra Eula Shaw.  He died May 1, 1983 at Lampasas.

Amy Lou Culbertson, daughter of Robert Culbertson and Deacra Eula Shaw Culbertson, was born October 29, 1947 at Lampasas.  She, unmarried, lived in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1985.

Susan Diane Culbertson, daughter of Robert Culbertson and Deacra Eula Shaw Culbertson, was born September 29, 1948 in Lampasas.  She was married there October 2, 1970 to William Priestly Tindall III.  In 1985 they lived at Nome, Texas.

Children born to them include:

 Elizabeth Lea Tindall  born March 3, 1977

Margaret Jane "Maggie" Smart, daughter of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born March 23, 1850.  She was brought to Texas in the following year by her parents.  She sold her share of 369 acres on the South San Gabriel River November 10, 1876 to E. F. McCray, her brother-in-law, for $600, according to Williamson County Deed Book 26, page 496.  Later her husband joined her in a confirmation deed.
  She was married October 9, 1884 to Phillip M. McCormick.  He was a rancher and in partnership with his brother-in-law Thomas Henderson Smart operated ranches in Williamson County and Edwards County.  In 1889 they were operating a sheep ranch ten miles south of Rock Springs, Texas and had signed a not to H. D. Briggs June 6, 1889 pledging 2,000 sheep as collateral.  He alleged that the sheep were also used as collateral at a bank in Brady, Texas.

Phillip M. McCormick died of pneumonia in April 1892 at the residence of his sister-in-law, Martha Thomas "Mattie" Smart Newton in Rock Springs, Texas. In reply to a interrogatory from Williamson County District Court in 1894 she stated, "He was sick in his sheepcamp three or four days before being brought to my house. Tom Smart and Reuben Smart waited upon him until he died."

Briggs filed suit against Thomas Henderson Smart and Margaret Jane "Maggie" Smart McCormick in Williamson County District Court and was successful against them, according to Williamson County court records.

Charles Phillip McCormick, son of Phillip M. McCormick and Margaret Jane "Maggie" Smart McCormick, was born about 1890.  He was married in 1915 to Maude Allen.  In 1983 she lived in Austin, Texas.

The following statement was found in her lockbox:

"Soon after Charlie and I married in 1915 my mother-in-law, Maggie Smart McCormick, gave me this family history and I wrote it all down for my children to keep.

Brice Miller Smart, son of John White Smart and Mary Miller Smart, had 3 brothers, Reuben, William and Joe, and he was born and raised in North Carolina.  They came to Bloomington, Indiana.

Amy Cox Smart had 4 brothers, Jehu, James, Pleasant and Thomas.

Charles P. McCormick was the son of Maggie Smart, and she was the daughter of Amy Cox Smart, and she was the daughter of Solomon Cox and Elizabeth Johnson, and she was the daughter of Grandmother Skaggs who was in Penn's Colony."

Robert Fay McCormick, daughter of Charles Phillip McCormick, and Maude Allen McCormick, was born September 7, 1918.  She was married about 1940 to Eddie Smith.  In 1960 they lived in Bertram, Texas.  He died in 1979, and she moved to Austin to live with her mother.

Allen McCormick, son of Charles Phillip McCormick and Maude Allen McCormick, was born May 8, 1919.

Madge Emily McCormick, daughter of Charles Phillip McCormick and Maude Allen McCormick, was born January 3, 1920.

Brice Phillip McCormick, son of Charles Phillip McCormick and Maude Allen McCormick, was born June 21, 1922.

Margaret Joyce McCormick, daughter of Charles Phillip McCormick and Maude Allen McCormick, was born January 23, 1926.

Brice Miller Smart, Jr., son of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born in Bell County, Texas May 23, 1853.  He was married about 1878 to Seba Celia Page, who was born in Alabama in March 1859.

He and L. M. Mays received a deed to a "mill and ginhouse on one acre of land in Flor+ence" for a note for $245.08 bearing 12% interest from John White Smart January 16, 1880, according to Williamson County Deed Book 24, page 264.

They appeared in the 1880 census of Williamson County living adjacent to the household of his brother, John White Smart.  The household, No. 114-116, was rendered as:

            Alabama, mother born in Alabama
 Willie L.     5/12, daughter, born in January in Texas,
            father born in Missour, mother born
            in Alabama"

They were among the earliest residents of Rock Springs, Texas, arriving there in 1889.  He was a prominent ranchman and assisted in the organization of Edwards County.

He appeared as the head of a household in the 1900 census of Edwards County, Enumeration District 15, page 9, Precinct 1 enumerated as:

Willie L. Smart, daughter of Brice Miller Smart, Jr. and Seba Celia Page Smart, was born in January 1880.

Lon R. Smart, son of Brice Miller Smart, Jr. and Seba Celia Page Smart, was born in July 1882 in Burnet County.  He was married August 10, 1908 at Rock Springs to Allie Axson.  He was a Mason.

Hiram A. Smart, son of Brice Miller Smart, Jr. and Seba Celia Page Smart, was born in July 1895.

Eldon P. Smart, son of Brice Miller Smart, Jr. and Seba Celia Page Smart, was born in September 1898.

Isabelle Smart, daughter of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born in Bell County, Texas March 27, 1854.

Martha Thomas "Mattie" Smart, daughter of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born in Lampasas County, Texas May 2, 1857.  She was married about 1877, husband's name Newton.  They moved to Edwards County, Texas in 1889 and were living there in 1894 when she filed an answer to a Williamson County District Court interrogatory.

Thomas Henderson Smart, son of Brice Miller Smart and Amy Cox Smart, was born in Lampasas County, Texas January 11 1859.  He was married about 1882, wife's name Emma O.  He gave a deed for 135 acres to Thomas Williams for $890 December 31, 1885, according to Williamson County Deed Book 40, 274.

They appeared as the head of a household in the 1900 census of Williamson County, Enumeration District 126, page 6, Precinct 3.  The family appeared as:
