Will of John Stone, 1821

In the name of God Amen. John Stone of Bourbon County and State of Kentucky, calling to mind that it is appointed for all men once to die hoping for resurection of the Just do in the first place recommend my soul to God who gave it, and my body to be buried in a desant and Christian like manner at the discretion of my executors here after named, and as to my estate both real and personal I dispose thereof as follows:

First that all such debts as I shall Justly owe at the time of my death, be paid by my executors, my will and desire is that my estate shall remain all together during the natural life of my wife, or during her widow hood and in Case she my widow should marry then in that Case I lend unto my beloved wife Judith the negroes heare named Lucey, Lidia, [and] Cindia during her natural lif

Item I also lend unto my said wife one bed and bedstead & furnature, one horse and saddle & bridle, two milk cows, ten hogs. It is also my desire that all of this property lent to my wife should return to the body of my estate and be equally divided amoung my children at her death: Betsey Parrott Stone, Thomas Stone, John Stone, William Parrott Stone, Judith Yearby Stone & Madison Stone.

It is my will and desire that after all of my Just debts are paid that the residue of my Estate Should be equally divided amoung my children abovenamed. It is also my will and desire that my Estate should be divided whenever my Executor should think it most proper. Hereby revoking all other wills by me hearto fore maid, and lastly I do heareby nominate and appoint my friend and brother Kinzea Stone and my beloved wife Judith Stone my Executor & Executrix to this my last will and testament declaring all other wills nul and void. Witness my hand and Seal this 27 day of January 1821.
