JOHNNY GREEN MINE
This copper mine was located in the West Westfall Copper Mines area, just southwest of the Copper Hill Mine, 3.5 miles northwest of the Green Mountain Smelter, which is 1.2 AIR miles west of White Rock Road, 3.5 AIR miles south of the junction of White Rock/West Westfall roads, and 7.0 AIR miles north of the four-county intersection.
On Whitlock Road, 2.0 miles northwest of the junction of Whitlock Road/Colorado Road north of Mariposa and 0.3 miles east of the Sherlock Road junction. It is in the Whitlock Mining District.
Named after John F. “Quartz” JOHNSON, this old hard rock gold mine was located near Hornitos. It was originally discovered and worked by JOHNSON in the 1850s. He had a two-stamp mill here to process ore. The camp was active again in the early 1930s.
