Know all men by these presents that we J.C. Phillips and David Heflin of the state and county aforesaid in consideration of two hundred and forty dollars to us paid in hand by Henry Evans of the same state and county above mentioned have granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and do by these presents bargain, sell and convey and release unto the said Henry Evans a one third interest of the north of Black No. 2 situated in Iredell, Bosque County, Texas and is further described as being Block No. w as on the Plat made by William McCauley and -?-as part of the compromise made with the administrator of H.Y. McFarland Estate it being of the James McCullough survey the same being a decree of the District Court of Bosque County, State of Texas and as shown by the record of said count. Together with all and singular the rights members, hereditaments and appurtenances to the same belonging as in anywise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and singular the premises above mentioned unto the said Henry Evans his heirs and assigns forever and we do hereby bind ourselves our heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Henry Evans, his heirs, assigns against every person whoever lawfully claiming the same of any part thereof. Witness our hand and seal using -?- for seal this the 7th day of October A.D. 1873. Underlined before signing.

(1) J.C. Phillips and Henry Evans were sons-in-law of David Heflin having married his daughters, Martha Josephene Helflin and Mary Rebecca Heflin respectively.
G.A. Gordon was the father of Charles A. Gordon who had married another daughter of David Heflin, Amanda Elizabeth Heflin.
