1. Gregor Of The Golden Bridles 1, 2 was born in Scotland. He died in Scotland. Gregor was employed as 1st Cheiftain of Laird Of The Clan Gregor Of The House Of Glencairnoch.

The Clan Gregor traces its lineage back to Gregor MacAlpin (c 850), the son third son King Alpin of Dalraida. Tradition says that Gregor's grandfather was Hugh (Aodh) of Glenorchy and his father was Fiolla Faolain's. However, Gregor is the name-father amd its first Cheiftain.

The name of the ancestral burial place is also called Dalmally which is an island between Glen Strae and the River Orchy in Argyll. The chapel was torn down by the Black Douglas of Glenorchy in 1615.

Kenneth MacAlpine was the first king of Scotland. It is not known whether or not Gregor was his son or his brother.

His ancestral land is Glenorchy which was awarded to Duncan Campbell circa 1306 for services rendered to Robert the Bruce. However, the Bruce did not tell them how to get the land and left it up to the Campbells and MacGregors to work out the details. The MacGregors held the land "by the might of the sword" until the reign of David II (ca 1329) when the Campbells were awarded a legal title.
