Family Tree of William Guy and Margaret Donahue - Photo of Grandpa Greasser

Grandapa Greasser

Above:See the women at right? She's Celia Lutz, and when this photo was taken she was feeding a pen ruling machine, which drew lines on paper. The time was 1915, and the place the A. M. Graesser Co., a book bindery then in the old Caxton Building, 45 Division Street, now part of Cathedral Park. The company had been founded in 1880 by Ferdinand Graesser , who passed it on to his sons Art (center) and Ray (just left of Celia). When Art retired in 1955, his two nephews, Earl and Richard Heuer, stepped in, later moving to 1233 Main St. Now they too, have retired, and just last week the 102 year old family firm closed its doors for the last time. The picture was sent in by Mrs. June Sorger, of Amherst, niece of Art - who she adds still lives in Buffalo with his wife at age 91.
