Maidment Family of Wiltshire, England
Little is known of my Maidment ancestors. It is believed they originated from the parish West Knoyle in Wiltshire where there were a large number of Maidment's, however a positive connection to any of these families has not yet been found. My direct line is in bold typeface.

First Generation
1. Grace MAIDMENT
.There is no record of a baptism for Grace on the International Genealogical Index.
There are two marriages recorded on the IGI which may relate, namely one to Joseph BALL on 28 Sep 1777 at West Knoyle and the other to James WILTON/WILLAN on 6 Jun 1778 at Mere. It is however, possible that the marriage at Mere, relates to Grace Turner who had married Joseph Maidment in 1773. Unfortunately at this time the parish registers have not been examined to clarify this.
The Varied Index compiled by Dr. Barbara Carter lists a Removal record for a Grace MAIDMENT as follows:
1759 Grace MAIDMENT. Singlewoman. Removed from MERE to WEST KNOYLE. Ref: WRO/438/49
It would seem most likely that relates to Priscilla's mother and that she was returned to her native parish as a result of her pregnancy, perhaps indicating that the father may have come from Mere.
Children:
2 i. Priscilla MAIDMENT

John and his family appeared on the 1841 Census at Kingston Deverill which was taken on 10 April. At the time there were 420 residents. Sarah migrated to Australia with her son, Jonathon and daughter, Isabella on the Lord Stanley. The ship departed from Plymouth on 4 May 1850 and arrived in Sydney on 27 Aug 1850. Details on shipping indents for Sarah are as follows:
