The Plimmer Family of Staffordshire, England
![]()
The Plimmer family originates from the village of Wednesbury in Staffordshire. Pictured below is Ye Olde Leathern Bottel in Wednesbury. The building dates from the 16th Century and was visited by Dick Turpin, the infamous Highwayman. It lays claim to being one of the most 'Haunted' Pubs in the Black Country.

My direct line of descent is shown in bold typeface.

Henry WILLIAMS, 4 Apr 1836 in St. Martin, Birmingham, Warwickshire, ENGLAND 7. Born Circa 1816 in Gornal, Staffordshire, ENGLAND 45. Occupation Shoemaker 13/ Cordwainer 17. . The Curate, M. W. viii. Clara WILLIAMS
Mary, her husband and children have been identified on the 1851 Census at No. 5 Carven St, Birmingham, she was aged 35 and born at Wednesbury, Staffordshire. Henry is aged 35, a cordwainer, born Gornal, Staffs, his wife, Mary also aged 35 is described as a Per Raiser (?) and she was born Wednesbury, Staffs. Their children were all born in Birmingham and include, Isabella, aged 14, a nurse, Hannah aged 11, at button trade, Henry aged 9 an Errand Boy, Elizabeth, aged 7 also at button trade, and Mary Jane aged 2. 17
It would seem likely that Henry and Mary may have had more children, particularly between Mary Jane who was born c1849 and Clara, who was born c1856. Hopefully later Census will confirm such details.
Neither Henry or Mary can be found on the 1881 Census, and it would seem likely they may have been deceased at the time.
