** Children with two asterisks after their name were the offspring of Joseph HANCOX and his first wife
Ruth BAKER HANCOX, who died sometime prior to 1861.
These names seem to have all been written in the same hand at the same time,
and I believe it is a list written after the marriage of Joseph to his second wife,
Mary EDWARDS in 1863, not at the time of the children's actual births.
I presume that this was the personal bible of Mary EDWARDS, with data copied from the deceased Ruth's Bible.

An interesting note regarding the family:

Joseph HANCOX' first wife, Ruth BAKER (c. 26 Jul 1812, Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England)
had a sister Elizabeth BAKER (c. 28 Dec 1817, Saint Thomas, Dudley, Worcester, England)
Elizabeth married Joseph's cousin Thomas HANCOX, son of Herbert HANCOX and Sarah SHAW.
Herbert b. 1787 (Thomas' father) was the brother of Benjamin HANCOX b. 1785 (Joseph's father).
Thomas and Elizabeth brought their family to Troy, NY in the 1870's. Two of Joseph and Ruth HANCOX' children,
Hubert and George, also moved to NY. In Troy, Thomas's son Isaac and Joseph's son Hubert were best friends,
first cousins, and second cousins. They lived in the same house at times, and are buried together in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy NY.
