	Elizabeth Edwards HANKS Born: 1 Dec 1849, Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorganshire, Wales May 1864, sailed on "General McClellan" from Liverpool to Castle Gardens. Walked from Council Bluffs to Salt Lake Valley arriving 4 Oct 1864 At sixteen, Eliza married George William HANKS, on Sunday, 23 Jul 1865, Paragonah, Utah. She called her husband "Mr. HANKS." Eliza was the mother of eight children, six lived to adulthood. Nursed and tended ailing husband, mother and MIL many years. She was widowed at age forty on 21 Mar 1899. She continued to farm, including homesteading land north of Paragonah. Always a great reader, she did not learn to write until 1902 at age 53.
