SUFFERING FARMER ENDS HIS OWN LIFE

Charles Travelpiece, 70, a farmer residing at Hobbie, east of Berwick, ended physical sufferings by shooting himself through the heart with a charge from a shotgun.

Travelpiece told members of his family he was going to visit a neighbor and said he was taking a shotgun with him for protection. Some distance from his home he halted. placed the muzzle of the gun over his heart and pressed the trigger with a lath.

Members of the family, including Mrs. Travelpiece, heard the blast of the gun and rushed to a nearby field, where they found the man lifeless, He had blown a hole through the left side of his body.

Members of the family said Travelpiece had suffered physical impairment formally weeks and worried constantly over his affliction.
