- 1796 Moses Hanlon arrived in Donegal Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania. He came from County Donegal in Ireland. (see Donna E. Mohney's transcription of an 1883 History of Butler County Pennsylvania.) Note: Moses appears in the 1820 Federal Census of Donegal Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania with his son William Hanlon living nearby. Moses' daughter Margaret Hanlon lived next door married to David Russell.

- 31 MAY 1804 the sworn list of passengers was recorded of people intending to leave aboard the American Brig Ceres from Newry, Armagh, Ireland to New York. - 1850 Bryan Hanlon, age 22, arrived in New York aboard The Chasca. (Passenger list transcribed from the book "A Farewell to Famine" by Jim Rees)
Note: The Chasca arrived in a party of three boats alongside the Ticonderonga and the Loodianah. The boats were organised by Father Hore, an ageing priest, who led his group of over 1,000 people from their homes in Counties Wicklow and Wexford on a voyage to America to begin new lives in the American mid-west. The group is known to have broken into six smaller groups, settling mainly in New Orleans, Arkansas, Texas, Missouri and Iowa, where some established a town called Wexford.
