St. Crone's Church of Ireland lies in the Parish of Templecrone and is found in the town of Dungloe, County Donegal, Ireland. The following records of Hanlon baptisms, burials and marriages were transcribed from the original church registers which are held in local custody at the rectory nearby in Bun Beg. The baptism and burial registers start in 1879; the marriage register starts in 1849.With thanks to the Reverend David Cole and Mrs. Christine Cole for their kindness and patience.
Townland spellings are shown as they were found in the records. In many cases it is clear there have since been changes, e.g. Aboligan is now known as Meenabolligan. In other cases the place name is still the same but there are endless spelling variations of it, e.g., Crucknaghera, Craignageragh, Cruc-na-Geaorach... to name but a few!
It is worth noting that the names vary almost as much in their spelling - usually as a result of a different priest or minister writing it down. E.g., see John and Catherine of Meen(a)boligan's children christened in the period 1881 to 1884: in 1881 they are Hanlin, in 1882 they are Hanlon and in 1884 they are Hanlin again!
