Cemeteries I've Posted

Below are links to the transcriptions I've posted. Although the original transcriptions were done by local volunteers in the early 1980's, I was responsible for retyping, reformatting and submitting the text files to the USGenWeb archives...with the permission of the original transcribers, of course!

Why do I transcribe cemeteries?

I believe that it's important to preserve the information on headstones for historical reasons. The United States, being a young country compared to other nations, has many century-old cemeteries which ought to be transcribed before the headstones become illegible or the graves are moved in response to urban growth. While the inscriptions on grave markers are second- or third-hand information at best and may contain errors of fact, they are sometimes the only remaining records of individuals who died before 1900.
