INTRODUCTION -  Many Irish families immigrated to Canada, and settled there for a few years, eventually moving down into the United States.  There are close ties between the Canadian families and those in eastern states, especially Massachusetts.  Often, young single women would live with their families in Canada part of the year, and would work as domestics, or in the factories of Massachusetts, for part of the year.  There was much traveling back and forth. 

Below is a list of those Harneys who were recorded as traveling to the 'States'.    When crossing the border, they were asked to list a relation, or an address, of where they were going.  This may provide a clue to family historians on where to look for a "missing" relation.
