This branch of the Harney are thought to be related to the Harneys of Kilotern House.

Family correspondent: Col. Edward D. Harney, Ret. Edward visited Ireland several times. On one visit he found records taking his line back another generation. He also found the gravestones of the ancestors of John Bowen's Harney line, at Kill graveyard. Irish records in Ed's possession, show his ancestors Patrick Harney and Mary Griffin were married at Pt. Law, lived at Dunhill, and left Ireland for the U.S. from Annestown.
