HARNEY, Bernard Edward
Born 18 Oct 1923, served in the Royal Navy during World War II.  He worked in the galley on HMS Guardian.  Lives with his wife, Anne, in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.  From his son, Kevin, February 2007.Family chart not known.

HARNEY, Charles Kenneth

Pilot Officer, #417148, Royal New Zealand Air Force.  Charles Kenneth Harney, who died on Tuesday, 7th Dec 1943, at age 27, was the son of Charles Leopold Landon Harney and Ethlinda Harney, of Mosgiel, Otago, New Zealand.  He is listed on the Bourail Memorial, New Caledonia, Panel 5.  The Bourail Memorial is situated in Borail New Zealand War Cemetery, and commermorates members of the New Zealand Land and Air Forces and Merchant Navy, and members of the Western Pacific Local Forces who died during operations in the South Pacific area, and who have no known grave.  The island of New Caledonia was annexed by France in 1854.  In 1942 the Allies used the island as a training ground for jungle and island warfare, and it was here that New Zealand forces prepared for the Solomon Islands campaign. The Headquarters of the South Pacific Command was established at Noumea, the capital, which became the principal United States base for the campaign and the largest forward Allied military and supply base in the South Pacific.

HARNEY, Edmund Murray
Flight Sergeant, R/74244, Air Gnr. 419 Sqdn., Royal Canadian Air Force. Edmund Murray Harney, who died on Tuesday, 15th Sept 1942, at age 30, was the son of Edmund Sebastian Harney and Helen Beatrice Harney; and the husband of Marie Simone Harney, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Compt.  He is buried at the Cott3esmore (St. Nicholas) Chruchyard Extension, Rutland, United Kingdom. 15. Grave 10.

HARNEY, Francis Exevier
Private, B/67711, Royal Regiment of Canada, R.C.I.C.  Frances Exevier Harney, who died on Wednesday, 19th Aug 1942, is listed on the Brookwood Memorial, Surrey, United Kingdom. Panel 23. Column 3.  The Brookwood Memorial stands within the Brookwood Military Cemetery, 30 miles from London.

HARNEY, George William
Corporal, N106394, A.C.M.F. 2nd Trade Trg. Depot, Australian Training Establishments.   George William Harney, who died on Thursday, 22 Aug 1946, at age 47, is buried at Rookwood Necropolis, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. C. of E. Sec. 15, grave 4998.   Rockwood Necropolis is 11 miles west of Sydney. 

HARNEY, James Peter, DCM
Lieutenant, 238420, 3rd Royal Tank Regiment, R.A.C.  James Peter Harney, who died on Wednesday, 27th May 1942, at age 25, is the son of James and Florence Harney, of Laisterdyke, Bradford, Yorkshire.  He is listed on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt, Column 20.  The Alamein Memorial Land Forces panels commemorate the soldiers of the British Commonwealth and Empire who fell in the campaigns in Egypt and Libya, and in the operations of the Eight Army in Tunisia up until 19 Feb 1943 - the date when it came under the command of General Eisenhower - and who have no known grave.  It also commemorates those who served and fell in the campaigns in Egypt, Libya, Seria, Lebanon, Iraq, Greece, Crete and the Aegean, Ethiopia, Eritrea and the Somalilands, the Sudan, East Africa, Aden and Madagascar and who have no known grave.

HARNEY, LAWRENCE
Served in WWII, Royal Navy, R.N.V.R. from March 1943 to 27 Mar 1947, mainly aboard Hunt Class destroyers, Convoy escorts.  On D-Day, arrived at the Beachhead with Canadian Division "Juno" Beach head June 5/6th at approx 0630.  Lawrence is the last Harney of his generation (family of nine) located Lancashire/Cheshire England. HARNEY, Patrick Leslie
Stoker 1st Class, P/KX 79147, H.M.S. Liverpool, Royal Navy.  Patrick Leslie Harney, who died on Monday, 29th Jul 1940, at age 32, was the son of George and Fanny Harney; and the husband of Olive Harney, of Stalybridge, Cheshire county, England.  He is listed on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial, Hampshire, United Kingdom, Panel 42, column 1.  The Memorial is situated on Southsea Common overlooking the promenade.

HARNEY, Thomas
Gunner, #1716257, Royal Artillery.  Thomas Harney, who died on Friday, 16 Mar 1945, at age 38, was the son of John and Lena Harney, of Lancaster, England.  His father died serving his country in World War I.  Thomas is buried at the Lancaster Cemetery, Grave E. 323-324.
