Funeral services were held on Dec. 26, 1981 for James S.
Leo at St. Thomas Catholic Church at Harlem, Mt., with Fr. Harrington of Havre
and Fr. Boyle of Harlem officiating.
Following the services, military graveside rites and interment were conducted at the Harlem Cemetery.
Jim was born on Jan. 31, 1921, to Sam and Elodie Leo at
Zurich, Mt. His parents preceded him
in death. His early years were spent in
the Harlem and Zurich areas and he remained here most of his life. In June 1942 he enlisted in the United
States Army Air Force. He was an
Aircraft Mechanic until his discharge in December 1945. Upon his return to the Harlem area he was
employed by the Great Northern Railroad for about 10 years along with his
father Sam and all his brothers. He
then worked as bartender and manager of the local V.F.W. Club for 15
years. The past eight years he was
employed by the State of Montana as manager of the State Liquor Store.
On August 17, 1959, Jim was united in marriage to the
former Dorothy Goodheart and assumed the responsibility of raising her five
children from a former marriage.
Jim's favorite activities were bowling, bingo, playing
cards with his friends and relatives; and just being with his family, friends
and relatives.
Jim entered the intensive care unit at Northern Montana
Hospital on October 3, 1981, suffering from his long illness, the effects of a
collapsed lung and emphysema. He
remained in the intensive care unit until his death on Dec. 22, 1981. In spite of the seriousness of his illness,
he always had a smile and extended hand to his family and friends and
relatives. He remained in high spirits
until called to join the Lord.
The most important things in Jim's life were his home,
family, and his work. It was this
aspect of Jim's life that is so deeply appreciated by the five children he helped
his wife Dorothy raise to adulthood.
This made Jim so proud of all of them.
He will be missed so much by all.
Jim is survived by his wife, Dorothy; six brothers, Frank
Leo of Chinook, Raymond, Christopher, Pete, Melvin and Larry, all of Harlem;
one sister Leona Woods of Malta, Mt.; three sons, Ervin Booth, his wife Marcia,
two daughters Kelsey and Whitney; Harvey Booth, his wife Micheal Ann and three
daughters Shay, twins Richelle and Nicholle of Kent, Wash.; Murl Booth and his
wife Judy and his son Jamie and daughter Jennel of Whitlash, Mt.; two
daughters, Colleen (Booth) Harris and her husband Martin, their two sons Fred
and Robert and one daughter Jennifer of Harlem; Bonnie (Booth) Johnston, her
husband Gary and son Brent of San Antonio, Texas, and many nieces and nephews.
Jim's six brothers acted as pallbearers for his funeral.
May God bless him.
We know he will pave the way for his wife and family as he always did
when he was here with us.--Contributed.

Youth dies
as car hits
house
An 18-year-old man died early Sunday when he failed to stop
his car at a dead end and crashed through the wall of a one-story Northeastside
home.
The accident occurred about 3 a.m. as John M. Lucas,
Brookhaven Drive, Lawrence, was driving on Mark Lane and arrived at its dead
end at East 55th Place, police said.
The auto crossed 55th Place, brushed a utility pole and
crashed into the home of Harold W. Toombs, 40, 6240 East 55th Place, according
to investigators.
Toombs said the car hit the house between the den and a
bedroom where his 16-year-old son, Gregory, was sleeping. It stopped two or three feet from the
youth's bed.
Shrubbery uprooted from in front of the house was pushed
inside the bedroom, and a desk in the room was shoved against the bed. The Toombs youth was not injured.
Lucas suffered massive head injuries and a broken neck and
was pronounced dead at the scene.

Girl dies
from injuries in
accident
By WILLIE WOFFORD
C-T Staff Writer
A Gas City girl who suffered a broken leg in an auto
accident in Marion March 14, died during surgery Monday at Marion General
Hospital.
Penny E. McNutt, 13, 802 E.N. "D" St., Gas City,
died at about 5 p.m. from massive blood clots in her lungs, David Devine, Grant
County Coroner, ruled.
Devine said the blood clots were caused by the
accident. They were not detected until
doctors were operating on the girl's upper right leg, he said.
Devine said it is not unusual for blood clots to form when
a person sustains a broken leg.
"Not on a long bone fracture," he said.
Blood clots can develop from immobility because of a
fracture, Devine said. "When you
start moving, the blood clots circulate up the vascular system. This is one of the things that's so dangerous
about a long bone fracture."
Devine said Miss McNutt died about two hours after doctors
started operating on her. About 45
minutes into the operation, doctors tried to revive her and continued for 1 1/2
hours, he said.
Miss McNutt was a passenger in a car driven by Richard W.
Bosworth, 17, 809 E.N. "F" St., Gas City.
Bosworth, who was driving southbound on Nebraska Street at
a high rate of speed, lost control of the car and crashed into a parked car at
3404 S. Nebraska St., police said. He
was pinned in the car and freed by rescue workers at the Marion Fire
Department.
Bosworth was hospitalized for chest injuries and released
recently. He has been charged with
driving under the influence in Marion City Court. A charge of criminal recklessness is pending against him in Grant
County Juvenile Court.
Another passenger in the car, Gordon L. Purvis, 17, 721
Eastmont Drive, Gas City, complained of shoulder pain, police said. He was treated at the hospital and later
released.
Shawn R. Voland, 13, 2710 S. "J" St., Gas City,
suffered a broken leg in the accident.
She was in satisfactory condition Tuesday night.
Marsha Englehart, 14, 1107 W. 10th St., Marion, was the
fourth passenger in the car, but she was not injured.
Miss McNutt's grandmother, Leona Cummings, 928 E.N.
"D" St., Gas City, said Miss McNutt wanted to visit a friend in
Upland when she, Miss Voland and Miss Englehart got in the car with Bosworth
and Purvis.
However, the teen-agers came to Marion instead of driving
to Upland. The details which led to the
accident were under investigation Tuesday by the Marion Police Department.
Miss McNutt's death is the first traffic related death in
Marion this year. Eight traffic
fatalities have occurred in Grant County this year.
