      Donald E. Lafferre, 78, of 41601 Sandbar Road, Lewisville, Ohio died Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio.  He was born at Lewisville, Ohio on March 28, 1929 a son of the late Howard and Wilma Stoffel Lafferre.

      He was a graduate of Lewisville High School, Lewisville, Ohio; a lifetime farmer and oil and gas producer; a member of the Stafford United Methodist Church, Stafford, Ohio; a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Anti-Aircraft Artillery and 1st Guided Missile Center, Ft. Bliss, Texas during the Korean War; over 50 year member of the Stafford Lodge #300 F.&A.M; member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Cambridge, Ohio; member of the Aladdin Shrine; member of the Belmont/Monroe Farm Service Agency with over 50 years of service; former member of the Monroe County Fair Board and a devoted supporter of area athletics.

      Surviving are his wife, Ruth Martin Lafferre of 53 years whom he married on November 22, 1953; one daughter: Karen (Dick) Sulsberger of Woodsfield, Ohio; three sons: Kirk (Karen) Lafferre, Kevin (Kris) Lafferre and Kasey (Patty) Lafferre all of Lewisville, Ohio; two sisters: Virginia Rohr of Columbus, Ohio and Shirley (Eugene) Evans of Baltimore, Ohio; ten grandchildren: Keith Lafferre, Abby (Bill) Sulsberger Roen, Karrie Lafferre, Ryan Sulsberger, Trent Lafferre, Louis Sulsberger, Lynsey Lafferre, Kelsey Lafferre, Korey Lafferre and Kimberly Lafferre.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, H. Rick Rohr.

      Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 1-9 p.m. Sunday, April 15, 2007 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2007 with Rev. Gary Fitzgerald and Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery, Lewisville, Ohio with full military graveside services.  Masonic services will be held at 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

    Florence Lallathin age 84 of West Union Road Sardis, Ohio died Thursday Feb. 1, 2007 at the Crestview Health Care Center, St. Clairsville, Ohio. She was born July 6, 1922 in Antioch, Ohio a daughter of the late Clarence Lude and Clara Hoff Lude.  She was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ.

    Preceded in death by 1 brother: Wilbur Lude.

    She is survived by her husband: Ralph D. Lallathin of Sardis, Ohio, 1 son: David Lallathin - Sardis, Ohio, 1 daughter: Peggy Jones - Bellaire, Ohio, 1 sister: Ruth Sampson - Bethleham, West Virginia, 1 brother: Paul Lude - Woodsfield, Ohio,

    Kenneth D. Lallathin, age 67, of Peavine Ridge Road, Sardis, Ohio died

Wednesday March 28, 2007 at his home. He was born August 26, 1939 in Monroe County Ohio a son of the late Brady & Rose Beckett Lallathin.

    He was a self-employed Timber Worker and Farmer.

    Preceded in death by 1 brother: Gary Lallathin, 1 sister: Waneta Ketzell.

    He is survived by his wife: Mable Eikleberry Lallathin of Sardis, Ohio, 2 sisters: Geraldine (Leslie) Minor - Westerville, Ohio, Delores (Cecil) Jones - Sardis, Ohio, Several Nieces and Nephews.

    Friends received from (2-9) p.m. Friday at the Bauer-Turner Funeral Home, 100 S. Paul St. Woodsfield, Ohio where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 31, 2007. Interment in the West Union Cemetery near Sardis.

Ralph D. Lallathin age 85 of West Union Road, Sardis died Thursday [d. April 26, 2007] at his home. He was born June 6, 1921 in Green Township Sardis Ohio a son of the late Charles F. and Lena M. Bruney Lallathin.  He was a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ and a veteran of World War II. He was also a former employee of Sylvania Electric, Consolidated Aluminum, and North America Coal Co.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Florence Lude Lallathin and 2 sisters.

Lallathin, Wilson W. "Jim" Lallathin

      LALLATHIN, Wilson W. "Jim," of Naples, Fla., passed away Sunday, July 22, 2007, in the Frances Georgeson Hospice House.

      He was born July 21, 1913 in Sardis, Ohio, the son of the late Thomas H. Lallathin and Clida May Minder Lallathin.  As a young man, Jim worked with his stepfather in the oil fields of Texas. He settled in Cadiz, Ohio and worked in the coal mining industry for over 40 years, retiring in 1978 from Consol's preparation plant.

      Jim was a member of the Christian Church of Cadiz; and the UMWA Local 7690. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed watching baseball.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Eugene Reef; sister, Grace; brother, Donald; and stepbrother, Woodrow Reef.

      He is survived by his wife, Hazel, who he married in 1936; son, Tom (Janet) Lallathin of Naples; half sister, Sara Reef Craig of Woodsfield, Ohio; grandchildren, Scott (Teresa) of Kernersville, N.C., Paige (Dan) Kokovich of Ostrander, Ohio, Wade (Darcy) of LaRue, Ohio; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

      Services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

      In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Wilson Lallathin to Hospice of Naples, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.

Isabell Lattea, 80

        YOUNGSTOWN -- Funeral Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown, Chapel for Mrs. Isabell Lattea,  80, who died Sunday morning at Forum Northside Medical Center.

        She was born Sept. 14, 1926 in LaGrange, Ind., a daughter of Joseph and Gertrude Focker.

        Mrs. Lattea was a homemaker and attended the Church of God on Lanterman Road.  She loved word puzzles and crafts.

        Isabell is survived by her husband, Leo T. Lattea, whom she married Dec. 19, 1959; 6 daughters Renee' A. Lattea of Cuyahoga Falls, and Sheila, Ruth, Kathy, Karen and Linda; and a sister Vivian (Floyd) Hatzel of Fort Wayne, Ind.

        She was preceded in death by her parents and stepbrother, Kenneth.

        Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

        Arrangements are being made by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel.

 

Lauffer, Wilma P. Lauffer

NEW MATAMORAS - Wilma P. Lauffer, 103, of Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 28, 2007) at the Mount Manor Nursing Home in Paintsville, Ky.  She was born Dec. 24, 1903, in New Matamoras, the daughter of Walter S. and Luna McVey Lauffer.  She had been employed by the Peoples Savings Bank in New Matamoras and was a life member of the Matamoras Historical Society. She was a graduate of Stover High School and the Marietta Business College. She was an 84 year member of Matamoras Chapter No. 261 Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by one nephew, James B. Lauffer of Paintsville, Ky.; two great-nephews, Walter (Jennifer) Lauffer and Michael (Kim) Lauffer of

Paintsville, Ky.; three great-great-nephews; two great-great-nieces; one great-great-great-niece; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, James Lauffer.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Chapel, with the Rev. Madlynne Webber officiating. Burial will be in the Matamoras Cemetery. Vivian Rose Leasure, age 64, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Thursday, December 13, 2007, at Genesis Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville, Ohio. She was born March 14, 1943, in Summerfield, daughter of the late Blaine and Mary Washington Moore.  She was a 1961 graduate of Summerfield High School.

Vivian was retired as director after 30 years of service at the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services office in Caldwell, where she began her career as a secretary.

           In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn, Betty, and Donna Lee Moore.

           Surviving are one son, Bryan A. (Lisa) Leasure of Carlisle; one sister, Marilyn June (Ronald) Wheeler of Caldwell; two grandchildren, Ryan and Janis Leasure of Carlisle; and several nieces and nephews.

           Friends may call Monday, December 17, 2007, from 5-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 18th at 1PM with Pastor Helen Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Eastern Cemetery in Summerfield.

Houston Lee, age 83, of Woodsfield, Ohio died Tuesday September 25, 2007 at the Monroe County Care Center. He was born March 17, 1924 in Gurdon, Arkansas a son of the late Nora (Nanny) McKelvy Lee and Jewell Lee.

He was a Baptist by faith. Houston came to Woodsfield in 1958 and retired from Ormet Corp. in 1983 with 27 years of service. He ran a family Upholstery business for over 25 years, and was an avid Golfer.

Preceded in death by 2 brothers: Doyle Lee & Olan Lee, 1 sister: Louise Rhodes.

 He is survived by his wife of 62 years: Sue Lee of Woodsfield, Ohio, 1 son: David Lee and his wife Connie Martin Lee of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, 1 daughter: Doris Shobe and her husband Jon Shobe of Westford, Massachusetts, 4 grandchildren: David Lee, Doug Lee, Caren Shobe, & Lauren Shobe Friends received from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday at the

Lee, Mary Elizabeth Lee nee Kirkbride

    NEW MATAMORAS - Mary Elizabeth Lee, 90, of Stover Drive, New Matamoras, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday (March 27, 2007) at her home.  She was born Nov. 16, 1916, in New Matamoras, a daughter of George and Mabel Holdren Kirkbride. She attended Matamoras Baptist Church and was a housewife. She graduated from Stover High School in New Matamoras.  On Sept. 27, 1943, she married Richard G. Lee, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2002.

    She is survived by her daughter, Carol Ann Lee of New Matamoras; one grandson, John C. Berentz (Heather) of New Matamoras; one great-grandson, John Lee Berentz of New Matamoras; one great-granddaughter, Haylee Berentz of New Matamoras; one brother, George Kirkbride (Ann) of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and several nephews and nieces.

    In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Harry Elton Lee; and one brother, June Kirkbride.

    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras, with the Rev. Rick Smith officiating Burial will be in Matamoras Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Lewis, Elaine Lewis nee Stout

    Lewis, Elaine, age 87, of Diberville, Mississippi, formerly of Moundsville, WV died Tuesday, April 10, 2007.  She was born January 12, 1920 in New Martinsville, WV the daughter of the late Burton A. and Blanche Goff Stout.  She was former restaurant owner in Burnt House, WV, a member of First Christ Church, Moundsville and she and her sister, Lottie Parker enjoyed ceramics and doll making at the Senior Citizens Center.

    In addition to her parents and her sister, Lottie, she was preceded in death by five brothers; Perry, Don, Hoasy, Arthur and Burton Stout.

    Survivors include a son; Ronald Lewis of Diberville, three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law; Frances Stout of Woodsfield, OH and Josephine Stout of Moundsville and several nieces and nephews.

    Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11am with Rev.         Robert L. Lewis Jr., age 43 of Canton, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in the Hospice Care Center of Fairlawn following an extended illness. Robert was born April 7, 1964 in Canton.

        Robert is survived by his parents, Robert L. and Katherine (Boron) Sr.; thirteen siblings including his special loving sister, Christina Reardon; several nieces and nephews, including Sabrina and fiancée, Dustin; one great-niece; three great- nephews; brother-in- law, Bud; goddaughter, Ms. Gabby; and special friends, Jane Madison, Leslie Jordon and Kathy Spera. He is preceded in death by his partner, Stephen Nagel and one sibling.

    CAMBRIDGE - Emma Ruth Light, 74, of Cambridge died Monday (June 4, 2007) at The Ohio State University Medical Center-Ross Center, Columbus.  She was born Aug. 4, 1932, in New Matamoras, a daughter of the late Harry and Lera Adams Kiggans. She was a TPW aide at the former Cambridge State Hospital for 25 years. She was a Protestant by faith. She attended Brown High School. She enjoyed her flowers, bird watching, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Light, in 1972; her parents; and two brothers, Harry Kiggans Jr. and Paul Kiggans.

    She is survived by two sons, David Dickson and Miles and Linda Light of Senecaville; one daughter, Shelia Halsey of Zanesville; five brothers, William Kiggans, Dwight Kiggans, Raeford Kiggans, Skip Kiggans, and Kenny Kiggans; four sisters, Helen Burris, June Ann Adams, Mary Lou Richardson, and Barb Freeman; seven grandchildren, Paul Dickson, Angela Hanning, Joshua Halsey, Amanda Light, Elizabeth Halsey, Andrea Halsey, and Shawn Light; six great-grandchildren, Corey Hanning, Jonah Evans, Tristan Halsey, Sean Ruebush, Kalie Ruebush, and Kimmi Jarvis; one great-great-grandchild, Shane Hamilton; and several nieces and nephews.

      Lisk, Ida, 68, of Mound Street, Sardis, Ohio, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at home.  She was born July 14, 1939 in Clarington, Ohio, the daughter of Edna

Mellott Conner and the late Virgil Conner.  She was a member of the Sardis Community Club; VFW Auxiliary #9930 in Duffy, Ohio; American Legion #760 in Hannibal, Ohio; a member of the Sardis Church of Christ; and a homemaker.

      In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Lisk; and two brothers, Robert Mellott and Bernard Conner.

      Survivors include a son, Michael Lisk of Temperance, MI; two daughters, Patty Pittman of Sardis, and Becky (Ollie) Lewis of Mt. Dora, FL; her mother, Edna Mellott Conner of Powhatan Point, Ohio; a brother, Virgil Conner of Powhatan Point; a sister, Violet Daugherty, also of Powhatan; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Lollathin, Martha J. Lollathin nee Bell

Martha J. Lollathin, 80, of Belmont St., Bellaire, Ohio, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007 at East Ohio Regional Hospital, Martins Ferry, Ohio.

She was born Jan. 4, 1927 in Wheeling, W.Va., the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Alverna Helen Day Bell.  She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #626, Bellaire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Eddie, Robert and Jimmy Bell and three sisters: Dorothy, Betty and Virginia.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Charles Lollathin; one son: Charles Robert Bell of Bridgeport, Ohio; four daughters: Janice (Al) Walker and Natura (Gary) Wright, all of Dalton, Ohio; Debi (John) Cogley of Youngstown, Ohio and Tammy (Brad) Peck of East Liverpool, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the Grisell Funeral Home, 125 Clarinda Dr., Clarington, Ohio where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Natura Wright officiating.  Interment in Clarington Cemetery, Clarington, Ohio.

 

Longden, Bertha L. Longden nee Morris

Bertha L. Longden, 79, Ashland homemaker

        Bertha L. Longden, 79, of rural Ashland died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at Grant Medical Central in Columbus.

        Mrs. Longden was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Woodsfield to Adolph and Emma Morris.  She had been a resident of Ashland County since 1948.  Mrs. Longden was a homemaker and formerly was employed at Faultless Rubber Co., A.L. Garber Co. and Eagle Rubber Co.  Her memberships included V.F.W. Auxiliary and AMVETS Auxiliary.

        In 1944, Mrs. Longden married Clyde Longden, who survives.  Also surviving are two daughters, Carol Searls and Brenda Longden, both of Ashland; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry Longden and Eddie and Debbie Longden, all of Ashland; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and two sisters, Kathryn Piatt of Ashland and Nettie Brown of Woodsfield.

        Mrs. Longden was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.

        A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at Heyl Funeral Home with Chaplain Kenneth Lindecamp officiating.  Burial will be at Ashland County Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home, 227 Broad St., Ashland. Friends may visit with the family one hour before the service at the funeral home.

      Longwell, Gale "Gag" "Pappy", age 78, of Wheeling, WV, formerly of Duffy, Ohio died Sunday, June 24, 2007 in Trinity Medical Center West.  He was born on October 17, 1928 in New Martinsville, WV the son of the late William "Bill" and Cora Potts Longwell.  He was a retired employee from Ormet with 30 years of service, a boat pilot, and a member of Hillview Terrace Church of Christ in Moundsville.

      In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William Longwell, three sisters Evelyn Jeffers, Marie Jeffers and Gladys Johnson.

      Survivors include his wife of 56 years Eleanor Dandrea Longwell, a son Gale "Guy" (Roberta) Longwell, Jr. of Sardis, Ohio, a daughter Gayle (Jim "Soupy") Hans of Wheeling, two brothers Thurman (Louise) Longwell and Bernard Longwell all of Hannibal, OH, three grandchildren Dusty Longwell, Cody Longwell both of Powhatan Point, OH, Savannah Hans of Wheeling, two great-granddaughter Elaina and Olivia Longwell, and dear friend Bobbi Goodnight.

She was born Oct. 3, 1917 in Monroe County, OH a daughter of the late Thurman and Mary Archer Smith.  Kate was a member of the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Caldwell and the Catholic Women's Club. (Marcia) Lorenz of Edmond, OK and John (Jeanne) Lorenz of Caldwell; 11 Grandchildren Jeff Semple, Shari Ley, Stacia Neuer, Heather Samson, Garth Semple, Melissa Hart, Rob Lorenz, Christopher Lorenz, Jennifer Carpenter, Jonathon Lorenz and Jill Baker; 23 Great-Grandchildren. Also survived by several special nieces and nephews.

      In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Lorenz, who passed away Aug. 1, 1978; Five Sisters and Two Brothers.

        Our beloved Jimmie Lowther, resident of Ontario, CA. Jim was born in Mechinacis Town, Ohio on Nov. 14, 1935. Passed away peacefully after a long illness on April 21, 2007 at San Antonio Community Hospital in Upland, CA. Jim was preceded in death by his father Leland and mother Vivian Lowther and his sister, Lois Herron [sic–Herren]. Jim joined the U.S. Navy in 1952; after his discharge, he went to work for General El ectric Aviation in the jet engine test cell for 42 years. Jim enjoyed many outdoor activities such as golfing, boating, fishing and hunting, especially his place at the Colorado River, which he loved dearly.

        He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Lowther of Ontario; his loving son, Jimmie (Sharon) Lowther; loving daughters, Jackie Verhelst (Wolf) of Troutdale, OR, Lorie Shoultz (Steve) of Gresham, OR; granddaughters, Heather, Stephanie, Alicia, Ashley, Jamie and Kylee, all of Oregon; grandson, Jimmie L. Lowther of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; great-granddaughter, Jaiden; great-grandsons, Matthew, Zackary and Caleb of Oregon; brother, Johnnie Lowther (Marsha) of Bullhead, AZ; sister Judy Baker of Chino, CA; many nieces and nephews. Jimmie was loved very much and will be dearly missed by all his family and many friends. He will be our loving angel in heaven looking over us all.

Volunteer Fire Dept.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Robert S. Loy.

      Survivors include three sons, Shawn Loy of Clarington, Gregg (Christine) Loy of Lower Salem, OH, Brent Loy of Claypool, Arizona, one daughter, Lisa (John) Tomshack of Clarington, two sisters, Esther (Clifford) Liniger and Eleanor Powell, both of Clarington, one brother, Leland (Sue) Christman of Comanche, Oklahoma, four grandchildren, Chase Gregory Loy, Bobby Emory Loy, Madison Rhianne Tomshack and Ashleigh Belle Tomshack.

        James Michael "Mike" Lozier, 56, of North Vernon died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

        He was born Jan. 28, 1951, in Shelbyville, the son of James Sr. and Katherine Taggart Lozier. He had worked at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center and in general construction. He enjoyed making lighthouses.

        He is survived by his mother, Katherine Lozier of North Vernon; one son, Jason Scroggins of North Vernon; one daughter, Kayla Lozier of North Vernon; two sisters, Jan Summers of Louisville, Ky. and Kathy Brown of North Vernon; one brother, Mark Lozier of North Vernon; and two nephews.

        He was preceded in death by his father and one son, James Michael Lozier III.

        The funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon.

        Bill Lucas, 76, of Taylorsville died at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility.

        Mr. Lucas was a retired pipe fitter and was a member of Local No. 440 Pipe Trades union, an organization he belonged to for more than 50 years. He also was a member of Stoney Lonesome Motorcycle Club, was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors.

        Born in Linton March 13, 1931, Mr. Lucas was the son of Sherman and Clara Lucas. He married Janet Stewart Feb. 4, 1956.

        Survivors include his wife; daughters, Becky Browne of Columbus and Sherry Moir of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Dean and Derek R. Daggett and Jessie and Jake Browne; great-grandchildren, Ashlyn, Brittni, Christian, Derek Alan and Ryan Nicole Daggett; and brothers, Sherman Lucas Jr. of Columbus and Robert Lucas of Seymour.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Amber Ford and Debra Joan Lucas; and a brother, Norman Lucas.

She was born Sept. 13, 1911 in Adamsville, Muskingum County a daughter of the late Levi David Bowden and Marian E. Kelly Bowden.  She found her savior at an early age and served him for 72 years, including teaching Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the Woodsfield First Baptist Church, & North Hills Baptist Church Marietta, Ohio.  She married Rolland H. Lumbatis Feb. 17, 1934 and were married for over 50 years. He preceded her in death Feb. 1984. She was also preceded in death by 1 infant brother, 1 infant sister, 2 sisters: Ruth Lumbatis, and Bernice Eccles, 1 brother: Harold Bowden, 1 daughter-in-law: Geraldine Lumbatis .

    She is survived by 2 sons: Larry (Linda) Lumbatis - Woodsfield, Ohio, Dennis (Marlene) Lumbatis - Marietta, Ohio, 1 daughter: Janice (Orlan) Emery - Overland Park, Kansas, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Marietta. Ila had been a member of the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarington. She loved to quilt and bake.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred C. Luthy; a sister, Alma Drumm; and a brother, Charles Fuhrer.

        She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. With her family at her side, Joan slipped into Gods' hands after her granddaughter, Christina read the 23rd Psalm.

        Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Margaret Weber. She is survived by her husband Austin, children; Deborah, Catherine, Donna and Douglas. Including eleven grandchildren: Christina, James, Carissa, Chelsea, Stephanie, Shannon, Cassandra, Abby, Jacob, Dusty, Christopher, and six great grandchildren: Gavin, Nathan, Vivyen, Preston, Cainen, and Maysea.

        Joan was born on May 21, 1932 in Kenton, Ohio. She attended Bowling Green University where she studied Business Administration. In 1952, she moved to Phoenix, AZ with her parents. Joan met the Love of her Life at Central Methodist Church, and celebrated their marriage in 1954. Her life was devoted to her family. Joan enjoyed traveling internationally with Austin, who was a member of the Orpheus Male Chorus. What brought her the most joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. There is a blessing God repeats everyday.... The memory of our beloved Joan. Some people come into our lives and leave beautiful footprints on our heart....And we are never quite the same.

Surviving are her husband, Nelson O.     WILLIAMSTOWN - Anthony Male, 83, of 449 Highland Ave., Williamstown, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday (Feb. 24, 2007) at his home.

    He was born Sept. 5, 1923, in Lumberport, W.Va., to Bernardo Male and Catherine Ambrosea Male. Mr. Male graduated from Lumberport High School and from Fairmont State College. He taught and coached for many years in the Marietta City School District and retired in 1980 from Washington County Vocational School. He was honored by the Ohio/West Virginia Officials Association in 1978 with over 15 years service as he officiated football, basketball and baseball contests at the high school and college levels. He was a community leader for many years in Williamstown as he participated in the development of the Williamstown Little League baseball program and he was a Boy Scout leader. Mr. Male was an avid gardener and was a longtime member of the Golf Club of West Virginia, where he achieved four holes-in-one during his many years of playing golf. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Williamstown; a member of Williamstown Lodge 129, AF&AM; and a member of the United States Marine Corps during World War II.

    He is survived by one son, Doug Male (Leslie) of New Albany, Ohio; two daughters, Suzanne Linton (Mike) of Wheeling, W.Va., and Cathy Male (companion, Darrell Miller) of Williamstown; two grandsons, Zachary and Matthew Male of New Albany, Ohio; honorary grandchildren, Jason and Lynsey Martin and their parents, Jeffrey and Teresa Martin; honorary grandson, Anthony Martin; two sisters, Katherine Male of Lumberport, W.Va., and Bernadine Heaton (Roy) of Mantua, Ohio; and two brothers, Sam Male of Jasper, W.Va., and Bernardo Male (Charlotte) of Woodsfield, Ohio.

    He married Joanne S. Shreves Male on May 31, 1947; she died June 29, 2006. In addition to his wife of 59 years, he was also preceded in death by his parents, Bernardo and Catherine Ambrosea Male; an infant son, David Anthony Male; and four brothers.

    Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 27, 2007) at Hadley Funeral Home, 500 Fifth St. Chapel, Marietta, with the Rev.         She was a member of Grace Brethren Church in Rittman.

        Surviving in addition to her husband, who lives with daughter, Rebecca June (Kenneth) Easterday of Jacksonville, Fla., are granddaughters, Kerri (Christopher) Slayton of Orrville and Kristen (Richard) Shook of Oak Harbor, Wash.; great-grandchildren, Kylee and Makayla Shook, Katy and Nicholas Slayton; and a sister, Selma Brown of Dover.

Margaret R. Marty, 61, Rittman, died Feb. 14, 2007, at WRH Health System. She was born Feb. 25, 1945, in New Martinsville, a daughter of Fred H. and Erma Riggenbach Marty.  She lived most of her life in the Seville/Rittman area. She was a member of the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church.

Surviving are aunts Georgiana Mart of Bridgeport, Lorena Riggenbach of Rittman, Ellen Templeton of Wadsworth and several cousins.

Her father died in 1995 and her mother in 2004.

Friends were received Feb. 16 at Gillman Funeral Home, Rittman and until time of service Feb. 17 at the Smithville Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Thomas, Reuben Mason, 88, of Clarington, Ohio, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, uncle and friend, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at home surrounded by family.

He was born December 7, 1918 in Clarington, the son of the late Elmer and Olive Smith Thomas.

Reuben was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, a retired Chief Engineer for the Mississippi Valley Line, a member of the Clarington Masonic Lodge #597 F. & A.M., and a Protestant by faith. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved to hunt and fish, and was known as a "Good Samaritan" for many good deeds for all in need. He was a skilled craftsman with many talents.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and James Thomas; five sisters, Dorothy Thomas, Elizabeth (Toots) Veith, Alice Pletcher, Edith Weisman, and Lindy Imperata; a son-in-law, Gene (Skip) Taylor; a niece, Connie Tschappat; and a nephew, Jim Imperata.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Tschappat Thomas; a daughter, Sonja Taylor and her husband, Lou Lemmon; and a son, Charles Thomas, all of Clarington, a brother, Bill Thomas of Newport, Ohio, childhood friend and brother-in-law, Lemuel Tschappat of Clarington; six grandchildren, Tom Taylor and Jenny (Roger) Abbott, all of Clarington, Geanie (Jim) Conger of Woodsfield, Mac Thomas, Meredith (Joe) Tilton of Ovieda, FL, and a step grandson, Scott (Karen) Lemmon of Flowery Branch, GA; eight great grandchildren, T.J. Taylor, Matthew, Taylor and Tyler Abbott, and David and Deanne Cline, all of Clarington, Summer Taylor of Powhatan, OH, Ella Lemmon of Flower Branch, GA; three great great grandchildren, Dawson, Trey, and Maddox, and several nieces and nephews.

        McANINCH, Rollin E., 75, of Colerain, Ohio, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at home.  He was born August 17, 1931 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late

Elishia M. McAninch, Sr. and Bessie L. (Bellville) McAninch.  He was a retired conductor for Con Rail; a member and elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church of Harrisville; a member of Ionic Lodge No. 438 F. & A. M. of Bellaire; Scottish Rite Valley of Steubenville; International Legion of Honor; Osiris Temple of Wheeling; and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

        In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Dana D. Bondzeleske; and four brothers, Elishia Melvin McAninch, Jr., James C. McAninch, Ellis L. McAninch, and Howard L. McAninch, Jr.

        Surviving are his wife, Verneice D. (Griffiths) McAninch; two

daughters, Sharon (Phillip) Bohn of Bethlehem, W.Va., and Linda Faldowski of Colerain, a brother, George McAninch of Martins Ferry; two sisters, Martha (William) Padgelek of Beallsville, Ohio, and Theresa (Gary) Weekley of St. Clairsville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Amy L. Smith, Rollin P. Bohn, Jenelle (Jon) Fitch, and Jonathan Faldowski; and two great-grand children, Erik and Emmett Fitch.

      Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the Heslop Funeral Home, Walnut at Fifth, Martins Ferry, where services will be held Saturday, July 21, 2007 at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Barry Hall officiating.

      Burial follows in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio, with full military honors by the Belmont Co. Council of the V. F. W.

        Mary Rose (Siscel) McBride, 64, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at St. Mary's Medical Center.

        She was born on March 31, 1943, in Tell City, Ind., the daughter of Agnes (Chappel) and Joseph Siscel.

        She retired from Wabash Plastics Company after 21 years of service and was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She graduated from Harwood Grade School and was a 1961 graduate of Central High School

        Mary Rose is survived by three daughters, Debra Wargel of Boonville, Ind., Christine Hill of Elberfeld, Ind., and Nancy L. Wargel of New Haven, Ill.; and three brothers, James Siscel of Bicknell, Ind., Larry Siscel and his wife, Franka, of Evansville, and Tom Siscel and his wife, Rose, of Evansville. Three grandchildren, Mandy Wargel of Boonville, and Ashley Hill and Lexie Horn, both of Elberfeld; two step-grandchildren, Bryon Hedges of Evansville and Tasha Pieper, of Chandler, Ind.; two great-grandchildren, Daveron and Dasan Clark, both of Boonville; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Tasia Pieper, both of Chandler, Ind., also survive her.

       She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Joseph Siscel, a brother, Richard Siscel, and a grandson, Jason Kelsey.

        Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, the Holy Redeemer Pastoral Team officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

        Maryanna S. McBride, 77, of Linton, IN, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. Born in Bicknell, IN, on August 4, 1930, she was the daughter of Charles L. and Anna (Lucas) Shepard. On March 13, 1948, she married Alfred L. "Scotty" McBride. Maryanna was a homemaker and a loving mother. She worked part-time as an Avon representative. She was a member of the St. Peter Catholic Church, the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Linton, and St. Ann's Alter Society. She was a recipient of the Brute' award in 2006 through the Evansville Diocese and was a graduate of the 1948 Class of Linton-Stockton High School.

        Survivors include her husband, Alfred "Scotty" McBride, two daughters: Dedra (Jim) Brumfield and Diana (Chuck) Wathen of Linton; three sons: Kevin (Teresa) McBride of Linton, Kenny (Lorie) Chaney of Jasonville, and Jon Chaney of Linton. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, and one sister, Carole Hoggart of Terre Haute, IN.

        Maryanna was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, D'Lee Chaney and her husband Kenny, two granddaughters: Jennifer Renee and Kyley Michelle; and two brothers: Guy Shepard and Charles "Junior" Shepard.

He was born at Laings, Ohio on September 25, 1930 a son of the late John and Minnie Hurd McCaslin.  He was a retired crane operator at the former Conalco Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio; a Protestant by faith and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bernetta Mehler McCaslin who died on January 29, 1988.

    Surviving are two sons: John McCaslin and Mark McCaslin both of the home.

        HARLEM - Harlem native Mary Marie (Goodheart) McCracken, 82, of Great Falls, a former office secretary at the Air National Guard, died of natural causes Thursday at a Great Falls care facility.

        Her funeral is 11 a.m. Monday at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Harlem, with burial in Harlem Cemetery. Edwards    Funeral Home of Chinook is handling arrangements.

        Marie is survived by her husband, Earl McCracken of Great Falls; two sisters, Bev Richman of Harlem and Carol Cornett of Lodi, Texas; a brother, Duane "Pete" Goodheart of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Phyllis Lee of Great Falls.

        Marie was born on Sept. 2, 1925, to Ervin and Nellie Mildred (Miller) Goodheart in Harlem. Marie spent her childhood in Harlem and on the farm on the Big Flat. She married Earl McCracken on Oct. 1, 1949, in Great Falls. They lived in Turner and for many years they owned and operated a store in Conrad. After moving to Great Falls, Marie worked at Wiessman and Sons and then served as an office secretary at the Air National Guard until she retired.

        Marie gifted us all with her love of people. Their house was home to everyone who entered, especially their many nieces and nephews. Marie was a very strong, modest lady who appreciated simplicity in life. Her love for everyone was unconditional and she thought everyone was wonderful no matter what. That Christian attitude was a great legacy that she left us with. Much laughter and giggles were shared around the kitchen table because of Marie's wonderful and crazy sense of humor and spirit. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and crocheting and she was very good about remembering birthdays.

        Marie was proceeded in death by her parents; three brothers, Vince Goodheart, BJ "Swede" Goodheart and Johnny Goodheart, who died in the Korean War; two sisters, Dorothy Leo and Shirley Richman, both of Harlem; and three infant siblings, Wincell, Dennis and Lois.

     Mabel McDaniels, 81, of Grandview died Tuesday at the Sunnyside Hospital.

     Mrs. McDaniels was born in Outlook and lived in the Lower Valley her whole life.  She worked as a nurse at Sunnyside Hospital in the nursery.  She later worked for Eastway Pharmacy.

     Survivors include her husband, Elmer McDaniels of Grandview; a son, Michael McDaniels of Grandview; a daughter, Glenda Hemmers of Gilbert, Ariz; a brother, Alva Kinkade of Anaheim, Calif; three sisters, Ellen Dahl of Yakima, Katie Wattenbarger of Sunnyside and Sylvia Dobrauc of Grandview; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

 

McDermott, Rosalie B. McDermott nee Berisford

    Rosalie B. McDermott, 84, of Evensville, Tennessee and formerly of Woodsfield, Ohio, passed away Feb. 19, 2007 in the Moffitt Cancer Center,

Tampa, Florida.  She was born July 31, 1922 in Wetzel County, W. Va. to Albert and Retta Smith Berisford.  Rosalie graduated from Clarington High School and then moved to Columbus, Ohio, where she met and married Aaron "Mac" McDermott on July 21, 1951. She accepted Jesus as her Savior in 1935 and dedicated her life to the ministry. She and Mac later joined Amazing Grace Mission, serving in the fairs of America telling others about Jesus. She loved music, family and reading her Bible. Her contagious smile reflected her love for others and for God.

    In addition to her parents, Rosalie, was preceded in death by a brother, Addison Berisford; a sister, Etta Berisford, and a brother-in-law, Ken Zimmerman.

    She is survived by her husband, Aaron "Mac"; two daughters, Brenda (Paul) Bennett of Barnesville, Ohio and Patti (David) Pyles of Tel Aviv, Israel; a brother, Worley (Virgina) Berisford of Zanesville, Ohio; two sisters, Flossie (Mort) Henshel of San Diego, Calif., and Verla Zimmerman of Ocala, Fla.; five grandchildren: Jeffrey, Jeremiah, Mandy, Lisa and Leah; and six great-grandchildren, Emily, Ezry, Seth, Abigail, Noah, and Lynneah.

    Friends will be received Tuesday at the East Sunsbury Baptist Church, near Beallsville from 10 a.m., until the time of the service at 11 a.m.  Burial will follow in East Sunsbury Cemetery.

She was born May 8, 1927, in Etowah, Tenn., a daughter of Horace and Ecca S. Presswood Cline. She was a member of Church of Christ, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 1, Titusville, Fla., and VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Titusville, Fla.

    She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Glover of New Matamoras, Linda Wolfe (Jim Busch) of New Matamoras, and Cindy Hopson (Larry) of Maryville, Tenn.; one son, William D. McFall Jr. of New Matamoras; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Hall of Whittier, Calif.; one nephew, Curtis Dills (Wanda) of New Martinsville, W.Va.; and special friend, Jim Johnson of Mims, Fla.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. McFall, on June 19, 1989; they were married Jan. 13, 1946. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Charles Cline; one sister, Arlie Dills; and two sons-in-law, Al Glover and Ronald Wolfe.

He was retired from Central Ohio Coal Company as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #2247, Woodsfield, a social member of the V.F.W. of Woodsfield post 536, and a protestant by faith.

Surviving are his wife of 36 years Esther McIntire, a brother, Charles

            He was born in Round Bottom, Clarington, Ohio on November 3, 1926, a son of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Reef McKelvey.

            Diamond was a retired employee of the Centre Foundry and Machine Company in Wheeling.

            In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles, Harold and Jim; and his sisters, Betty, Elda, Dorothy, Wanda and Elsie.

            Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Edith Moore McKelvey; his children, William (Cathy) McKelvey of Jacobsburg, Joanna (Larry) Palmer of Jacobsburg, Delores (Mark) Lucas of Alledonia, Dawn (Dennis) Palmer of Belmont, Suzanna McKelvey of Powhatan Point and John McKelvey of Belmont; a sister, Martha Kerns of Clarington; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

    OCALA, Fla. - Ruth Ann McVay, 86, passed away to the Lord's house on

Friday (March 2, 2007) in Ocala.

    She was born April 10, 1920, in Trimble, Athens County, Ohio, to the late Guy Earl McVay and Mary Dena Heffken McVay. She was a 1937 graduate of Harriettsville High School, Harriettsville, Ohio. She attended Ohio University, graduated in 1941 with an RN degree from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati, Ohio, and worked at Aultman Hospital in Canton, Ohio. She received her bachelor of science from The Ohio State University and worked as the director, school of nursing, at Massillon City Hospital, Massillon, Ohio. She then worked as an RN at Pittsburgh Hospital in 1957 and continued on to receive her master's in education degree from Columbia Teachers College in New York City. After receiving her master's, she taught a specialized psychiatric nursing program in Flint, Mich. She moved to Ocala, Fla., to assist in opening a new hospital, Ocala Community Hospital (known now as Ocala Regional Medical Center) and worked as a surgical RN until her retirement in 1985.

    She lived with and cared for her mother, Mary, in Michigan from 1968 until her death in 1990, when they both lived in Florida. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in Marion Oaks, Ocala, Fla. She volunteered from 2000 to 2006 as neighborhood crime patrol for Marion City Sheriff Department. The greatest joy of her life, and what she cherished most, was the time she spent with her family, her career, traveling, family dogs through the years and gardening.

    She is survived by her close friend and co-worker from Ocala, Lillan Jenkins; her nieces, Dora J. (Gene) Laferre of Ocala, Fla., and Mary E. (Elvin) Miracle of Marietta; nephew, William M. Mallett of Ocala, Fla.; great-nieces, Barbara (Doyle) Rauch of Marysville, and Jennifer (Dennis) Sturm of Marietta; great-great-nieces, Ariana (Casey) Myers, Alyssa Sturm, Kaylina Lafferre, and Josie Miracle; and great-great-nephews, Trevor Lowe, Dorian Lafferre, Dillon Sturm, and Wyatt Miracle.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her only sister, Lois M. McVay Mallett; and great-great-nephew, Colby L. Miracle.  Burial and private graveside services will be at Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Ohio, at the convenience of the family.

    Memorial contributions in her honor may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

     Jackson M. McVey,85, formerly of New Matamoras died Friday May 25, 2007at  5:13 AM at the Brown County General Hopsital in Georgetown, Ohio.

    He was born on October 21, 1921 in New Matamoras the son of Thomas and Lillian Young McVey. He was a veteran of WW II.

    He is the last surviving member of his family and is survived by several cousins.

    He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers , James and Richard A. McVey.

    Funeral services will be held at Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras on Wednesday May 30 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Matamoras Cemetery where graveside military services will be held.  Friends may call at the Hadley Funeral Home, New Matamoras Tuesday May 29 from 6 to 8 PM.

 

Meager, Betty June Meager nee McGarry

    Betty June Meager, 78, of Glencoe, died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007 at her home. She was born August 29, 1928 in Quincy, Ohio, daughter of the late George and Evelyn Radcliff McGarry.  Betty was a retired employee from the Holiday Inn in St. Clairsville and Tracy's Restaurant in St. Clairsville. She was a member of the Bellaire

Presbyterian Church.

    In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a brother, William McGarry; and two sisters, Bertie Lou Colvin and Marlene Jeffers.

    Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Meager; a daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Pierce of Belmont; two granddaughters, Sherri (Rusty) Myers of Bellaire and Karen (Rick) Mihalic of St. Clairsville; three great grandchildren, Ashley, Sailor and Braedyn; three brothers, Ted McGarry of Stewartsville, Jack McGarry of Glencoe and Vick McGarry of Woodsfield; several nieces and nephews.

    Friends will be received at Toothman Funeral Home in St. Clairsville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., where services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gerald Blon officiating.  Burial will follow in Glencoe Cemetery.

 

Melko, Scott Allen Melko

    Scott Allen Melko, 45, of Bethlehem, W. Va., was called home by our heavenly Father on Saturday, April 14, 2007.  He was born June 2, 1961 in Wheeling, W.Va., to Charles Melko of McMechen, W. Va., and the late Dolores Zelewicz Melko.  He was the son-in-law of Norman and Patty Smith of Benwood, W.Va.

    Scott was an employee of Muxie Distributing Company, a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church where he served as a lector, a member of the

Ohio Valley Board of Basketball Officials, and an avid fan of the WVU Mountaineers, Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's.

    In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jeffrey Scott, a friend and brother-in-law, Jerry Bower in 2004, a special nephew, Owen James Smith in 2005.

    Scott was a devoted husband to his wife, Monica Smith Melko and devoted father to their children Brock and Elizabeth "Beth Ann" Melko.

    In addition to his father, surviving are two brothers, Chuck (Jeanette) Melko of Bellaire, Ohio; Randy (Diane) Melko of Surfside, S.C.; seven sisters, Becky Bower of Wheeling, Vicki (Jim) Bondzeleske of Columbus, OH; Judy (Okey) Hays of McMechen; Terri (Tony) Schindler of Pittsburgh, PA; Cathy Melko of Clarington, Ohio; Traci Melko of Pittsburgh, Pa.; Kelly Melko of Morgantown, W.Va. Several brothers and sisters-in-law and many loving nieces and nephews complete his family.

    MELLOTT, Mary "Grand ma," 100 of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, in the Reynolds Memorial Hospital in Glen Dale, W.Va.  She was born May 17, 1907 in Cameron, Ohio, a daughter of the late Henry and Julia Shaw Eickleberry.  Mary was a homemaker; and a member of the Powhatan Point Church of the Nazarene.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dow Mellott, on November 11, 1956; two daughters, Hazel Mellott and Edith Goddard; two sons, William and Edward Mellott; three sisters; and three brothers.

    Surviving are three children, Cora Tomolonis of Beallsville, Ohio, Roy (Shirley) Mellott of Canton, Ohio and Phyllis (Ronald) Ollom of Clarington, Ohio; three sisters, Edna Conner of Powhatan Point, Martha McDougal of Big Prairie, Ohio, and Ethel Carpenter of Jerusalem, Ohio; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren.

    James R. Menkel age 79 of Woodsfield, Ohio died Monday April 30, 2007 at his snowbird residence at Melbourne, Florida. She was an avid quilter.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Emma Fankhauser and Olive Kalnai.

      Surviving are one daughter: Sharon (Donnie) Rothenbuhler of Beallsville, Ohio; two sons: James (Teresa) Mercer of New Matamoras, Ohio and Mark (Sheryl) Mercer of East Liverpool, Ohio; three sisters: Vera Logston and Ada Fankhauser of Clarington, Ohio and Stella Forni of Beallsville, Ohio; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.

        BLOOMFIELD — Jesse E. Miller, 72, of Bloomfield, passed away Friday at Bloomington Hospital.

        Born December 27, 1934, he was the son of Jesse Louis and Violet Marie (Myers) Miller. Jesse was a self-employed paint contractor and wood cutter. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Bedford.

        Survivors include his wife Beverly (Sullivan) Miller of Bloomfield; four daughters, Marilyn Mitchell of Bloomfield, Gloria Jean Miller and companion Wade Fox, all of Bloomfield, Teresa Sue Miller of Martinsville, and Sheryl Renee Koontz and husband Dwight of Bloomington; three sons, Jason Edward Miller and wife Crystal of Bloomington, Tom Barber of Idaho and Jesse Barber of Florida; three brothers, Bob Miller, Jack Miller and Pete Dove, all of Jasonville, Fla; * three sisters, Marge Miller and Alice Miller of Jasonville, Fla.,* and Caroline Miller of Carlisle, Ind.; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

        He was born in  Howenstein, Ohio on September 2, 1920 to Frank and Emma Bertha (Csornai) Miller.  He graduated from Canton Twp. High School in l938. He was a WWII veteran, having served in France and Germany as a Staff Sargeant for the U.S. Army. He married Ruby Jean (Wallace) Miller in 1947. He enjoyed playing fast pitch softball and played for Stark Ceramics, Buxbaum and Ashland Cos. and was inducted in the Greater Canton Softball Association. He retired from the Ashland Oil Co. in 1986 with 34 years. He lived in Massillon from 1962 until 1989 at which time he relocated to Apopka, FL. In his retirement years he enjoyed following various sports teams and stocks, gardening and traveling.

        Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruby (2004); son, Timothy R. Miller and  sister, Mary Latta.  He is survived by his children, Terry A. Miller of Apopka, Teresa J. Miller of Massillon, OH, Todd G. Miller of Apopka, Tina M. Miller-Fortune of Apopka; granddaughter, Jemma JeanMarie Fortune; and brother, John Miller (Elsie) of East Sparta, Ohio.

Minamyer, Charles Floyd Minamyer

Marietta Times, Marietta, Ohio, dated, March 5, 2007

    Charles Floyd Minamyer, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday (March 3, 2007).  Charles was born on the family farm in Clarington, Ohio, on Nov. 26, 1925. He was one of 10 children born to the late Floyd and Harriett Howell Minamyer.

    He is survived by the love of his life, Jacqueline (Pine) Minamyer whom he married May 31, 1953. He is also survived by two daughters, Vicki (Glenn) Reis of Cary, N.C., and Cindy (Buddy) Wulfert of Marietta; and one son, Garen (Darla) Minamyer of Hurricane, W.Va. He is also survived by two sisters, Evelyn (Walter) Brykalski of Stewartsville, Ohio, and Erma (Harold) Gruse of Marietta; and one brother, Bill Minamyer of Palm Springs, Calif.

    Charles leaves a loving legacy of six grandchildren who adored him, Shannon (Mark) Gerber and Lauren (Aaron) O'Brien of Marietta, Jacqueline Reis of Columbia, S.C., Brittany Reis of Cary, N.C., Alex Wulfert of Jacksonville, Fla., and Chad Minamyer of Hurricane, W.Va., and three great-grandsons, Austin, Jordan and Reece.

    Charles "Chuck" was an ironworker for 55 years with Local 787, Parkersburg, and Local 549, Wheeling, W.Va. During this time he worked on the Glen Canyon Dam and missile bases in Arizona, and power houses throughout the Mid-Ohio Valley. He was a charter member of Twin Rivers Baptist Church. In his full life, he "never met a stranger", loved auctions, country music, gardening, and his many, many friends.

    In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Howard and Paul Minamyer; and two sisters, Shirley Minamyer and Wanda Clark.

    Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home, with Pastor James Rushing officiating.  Burial will be in Lynch Cemetery. Minard, Howard E. Minard Jr.

        MIDDLEPORT — Howard E. Minard, Jr., 66, of Middleport, OH, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at his residence, with his son and daughter and two nieces present. He was born on February 8, 1941 in Van Buren, OH, son of the late Howard and Easter* (Archer) Minard.

        Mr. Minard attended Arcadia High School in 1960, then joined the United States Army from 1960-1962 in Fort Knox, KY. He served during the Cold War. Following the Military, Mr. Minard worked at Fostoria Foundry until the plant closed in 1980 and finished his time at Kokomo Casting Plant in Kokomo, Ind., retiring in 1991. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the UAW Local #1166 and the American Legion Post #128.

        Howard loved the outdoors. He spent time in Canada hunting.

        Surviving are a son, Jeff (Beth) Minard, Bloomdale, OH; a daughter, Dorothy (Jeff) Minard-Glick, Arlington, OH; grandchildren, Joshawa S. Minard, Brandon and Jennifer Snay; brothers and sisters, Pat (Mick) Tyson, Wayne, OH; Betty Brooks, Arcadia, OH; Dave (Patti) Minard, Payson, AZ; Bill (Dee) Minard, Arcadia, OH; brother-in-law, Richard Goshe, Fostoria, OH; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

        Preceding him in death is a sister, Bonnie Goshe; a brother-in-law, Mel Brooks; and a great nephew, Carleton Drummer.

        Funeral services were held on Friday, October 5, 2007 at The Fisher Funeral Home in Middleport, OH.

Arnold E. Miracle, 82, of 1713 Kingwood Court, Ashland, Ohio (formerly of Stafford, Ohio) went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Samaritan Hospital, Ashland, Ohio.

He was born at Stafford, Ohio on July 1, 1925 a son of the late Forrest H. and Opal McBride Miracle.

He had been a resident of Ashland County since 1954 and was formerly employed at the F.E. Meyers Company then later was employed as a Division Office Coordinator for the Columbia Gas Transmission Corporation with almost 28 years of service, retiring in 1986. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Ashland, Ohio for 47 years where he had served as a Trustee and Usher. He served his country during W.W.II. in the European Theater of Operations and was a member of the Jeromesville American Legion Post 0749.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Edward Miracle and a brother-in-law, Donald "Bob" Hughes.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Cox Miracle whom he married on December 21, 1947; one son: William R. (Sharon) Miracle of Ashland, Ohio; two sisters: Norma Lynn Hughes of Lewisville, Ohio and Ruth (Paul) Winland of Marietta, Ohio; three grandchildren: Adam of California, Drew who is serving his country in the Marine Corps in Iraq and Seth of Ashland; two step-grandchildren: Tyler (Jenny) Heyl and Jody (Howard) Householder; four step great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2007 with Dr. F.R. He was born June 12, 1924 in Monroe County, Ohio a son of the late L. Floyd and Bernice O'dessa Warfield Miracle. Charlie served and protected his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a 1944 graduate of Stafford High School and a former employee of the Timken Corp. of Canton. He retired from the Ohio Operating Engineers Local #18 following 21 years of service as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Franklin Township as a grader operator. He was a member of the Stafford Lodge #300 F. & A.M.

            His Family... He is survived by his Wife of 56 years, Leona B. E. Ruth Miracle, 80, of 317 Devon Road, Woodsfield, Ohio, died Friday, Feb. 2, 2007 at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W.Va. She was born at Rinard Mills, Ohio on Dec. 24, 1926, a daughter of the late Floyd and Jessie Joy Rinard.  She was a former sales representative for Stanley Home Products and was a former aide in the activities department at the Monroe County Care Center, Woodsfield, Ohio. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio and founder of the Happy Hearts Singers in Monroe County, Ohio; a member of the Order of Eastern Star Clarington Chapter 533, Clarington, Ohio and a member of the Pythian Sisters, Lydia Chapter, Woodsfield, Ohio. She enjoyed crafting (sea shells), going to flea markets and playing cards.

In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Jane Matthews.

Surviving are three sons: Mark (Rose) Miracle of Clarington, Ohio; Michael (Lynn) Miracle of Shadyside, Ohio and Mitchell Miracle and fiance, Janet Corey of Wheeling, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; Mark Alan Miracle, Scott Andrew Miracle, Tristin Miracle, Tiffany Miracle, Leah Miracle, Molly Miracle and Colleen Miracle; one step great-granddaughter: Sofia Lupi.

        Warren Eugene Moody, 68, of 124 East First Street, Weston, passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2007, in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston, following a brief illness.

        He was born in Gilmer County on October 26, 1938; son of the late Dwight Moody and Hazel (Osburn) Moody.

Mr. Moody is survived by two daughters, Robin Hoehn of Pompano Beach, FL, and Rachael Humphreys and husband Jerry of Hartville, OH, and several grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Dwight Moody of Uniontown, OH, and Virgil Moody of Akron, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

        Mr. Moody was a carpenter. He attended the Pricetown United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman.

        Friends were received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home of Weston on Monday, May 7, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services were held on Monday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Ronzel Roberts officiating. Interment followed in the Hiney Cemetery of Gilmer County.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James T. Moore, Harry T. Moore, Jr., and Thomas Moore; one sister, Naomi Philpot; two brother-in-laws, Myrl Ruble and Perry Philpot; a grandson, Jerod Moore.

    Surviving are his wife, Linda Beardmore Moore whom he married on November 14, 1964; two daughters: Rebecca (John) Fogle of Watertown, Ohio and Deana (Edgel) Parcell of Ava, Ohio; one son: Robert (Mary) Moore ofSummerfield, Ohio; one sister: Patricia Ruble of Byesville, Ohio; two brothers: Terry Moore of Summerfield, Ohio and Tim (Sandra) Moore of Summerfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Devon and Debbie Shackle, Matthew, Megan and Mindy Fogle, Zackery and Kimberlee Moore.

        ZANESVILLE - Edward Houston Moore Jr., 71, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Sunday June 17, 2007, Genesis Hospice, Morrison House.

        Edward was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Sinksgrove, W. Va., to the late Edward Houston and Dollie Muetzel Moore. Edward loved to fish and enjoyed camping. He worked in construction and as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1971. Edward served his country and protected our freedom as a solider in he U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

        Edward is survived by sons, Edward (Regina) Moore of Marietta and Ron (Becky) Ault of Orrville; daughters; Sherrie (Terry) Foster of Marietta, Terrie (Robbie) Coombs of Cutler, Connie (Chuck) Schultheisz of Marietta and Charlene (Herby) Dalrymple of Lewisville; brothers, Jim Moore of Hawaii, Bob Moore of Stockport and Tom (Illya) Moore of Athens; many grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

        He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Frank Muetzel; sons Tom and Jerry Ault; a sister; and brother-in-law, Jean (Gale) Adams.

        Graveside services are 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, in Memorial Park Cemetery, officiated by Brother Donny Brown.

John J.[sic-H] Morris, 81, of Lore City, passed away Sunday[sic-Tuesday] (July 10, 2007) at Country View Assisted Living Center.

He was born June 5, 1926, in Woodsfield, son of the late John Henry and Lillie Gay (Smith) Morris.  Mr. Morris was a retired laborer with Hunter & Wilson Stave Mill.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Morris, and a sister, Genevieve Kelley.

He leaves a son, Dennis Morris of Adena; two daughters, Charlene (Leonard) Wine of Woodsfield and Patricia Morris of Woodsfield; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

No visitation or services will be held at this time.  Private burial will be at a later date. Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, is in charge of arrangements.

John H. Morris was married to Wilma Bunting in 1947. To this union 6 children were born: Patricia of Lewisville,O.; Charlene (Leonard) Wine Woodsfield, O.; Connie (Lynn) White of Lewisville, O., June Morris of Cambridge; Dennis Morris of Brilliant, O.; and Rodney Morris of Lewisville, all of whom survive.

Surviving are also 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Brothers and sisters preceding him in death were: Audrey Viola Brothers, (1979), Genevieve Florence Kelley (2007), Virgil Vernon Morris (2007), James Thomas Morris (Unknown), Raymond (Unknown) and Golda Alberta Henthorn (1957). His parents also preceded him in death.  John was the last living member of this family.

        A funeral service for Raymond Morris, 84, of Pataskala will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, with Roger Massey officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Friends Cemetery, Quaker City, Ohio.

         Raymond Morris, 84, of Pataskala, passed away Nov. 17 at Echo Manor Care Center after a long illness with diabetes. Raymond was born March 11, 1923, in Monroe County, Ohio, to the late Thurman and Gail (Leach) Morris. The family moved to Baileys Mills, Ohio, after the death of his mother, where he was cared for and raised by a beloved aunt, Sadie Morris. Raymond attended the one-room school at Baileys Mills and Barnesville High School.

          Raymond worked in the Bixler Coal Mine until drafted into the Army in 1942. He was a retired Army veteran with 26 years' service. He served with the 6th Infantry Division during World War II, 187th Airborne Infantry Regiment during the Korean War, an Army Mission in Venezuela, South America, as an Airborne Infantry Advisor and as a counter-intelligence agent and military intelligence in the U.S. during Vietnam.

         His decorations and awards included the Combat Infantry Badge, with star, Master Parachutist Badge, two Bronze Stars (one for valor), two Purple Hearts with cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, letters of commendation and appreciation, and campaign service ribbons. He retired with the rank of (CSM) Command Sergeant Major.

         Raymond worked for the Pinkerton Security Agency, Columbus, after retirement from the Army. He and his beloved late wife were avid bowlers and loved to travel, especially to the Smoky Mountains to trace their genealogy.

         He was survived by sister, Anita (Mike) Ochoa; special nephew, Gregory (Vickie) Ochoa; nieces, Anita (Gary) Brown and Gail (Don) Hess; cousin Donald (Sonja) Morris; special friends Mary Christman, Tom and Kathy Sackett; and several dear nieces, nephews and cousins.

         He was preceded in death by loving wife of 54 years, Wilma (Stephens) Morris, and sister Ruth Francis Booth.

         Raymond was a member of the Pataskala Church of Christ and a lifelong member of the VFW. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at 12:30 p.m. at Kauber-Sammons Funeral Home, Pataskala. Mr. Morris was a retired welder for Central Ohio Coal Co., following 31 years of service.  He was a 60 year member of Summerfield Church of Christ, where he served as a former deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II.  He was a member of American Legion Post 415, Summerfield.  He loved to cross stitch, pick up cans and was an avid fisherman.  He enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lola Martin and Maxine Shroyer.     Oleta Jane Morrison, 55, of 39088 Sandbar Road, Sycamore Valley, Ohio died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, Ohio  She was born at Cambridge, Ohio on May 2, 1951 a daughter of the late John and Charlet Robinson Bates.  She was a 1969 graduate of Shenandoah High School, Sarahsville, Ohio; a homemaker and a member of the Woodsfield Church of Christ, Woodsfield, Ohio.

    Surviving are her husband, Morris Morrison of the home whom she married July 14, 1973; one daughter: Misty (Duane) Potts of Beallsville, Ohio; one sister: Ruth Shingledecker of Reynoldsburg, Ohio and one grandson: James Michael Potts.

Margaret "Peggy" J. Mullett, 64, of Hillsboro, Ohio, went home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2007 at The Ohio State Univesity Medical Center,

Columbus.  She was born July 12, 1943 in Wheeling, WV, the daughter of the late Tom and Mary Decker Haley.

 Surviving are her husband, Sherman; two sons, Shannon Mullett and Matthew Mullett and his wife, Terriann; also one granddaughter, Haley Mullett.  Most importantly, Peggy will be remembered as being a valuable asset to Person to Person Ministries where she served to help spread the Gospel of Christ and Salvation.

 She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ; 2 Timothy 4:6-8.  Visitation will be Sunday, November 4 at the Harper Funeral Home from 7 to 9 PM where funeral services will be held Monday, November 5 at 1 PM.  Burial will follow in Beallsville Cemetery.

Murphy, 57, of Powhatan Point, Ohio, died Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Bellaire, Ohio.  She was born Oct. 1, 1949, in Barnesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Hazel Faye Peacemaker Potts and Jack Potts.  Karen was a homemaker and a retired Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a Nazarene by faith.

      Surviving in addition to her father, Jack Potts of Powhatan Point, Ohio, are her husband, Carl H. Murphy; one sister, Debbie Palmer and her husband, Dale, of Clarington, Ohio; three brothers: Matt Potts and his wife, Jackie, Jack Potts and his wife, Kathy and Kirk Potts, all of Powhatan Point, Ohio; also several nieces and nephews.

      Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht- Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 186 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio, on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m., with the Rev. Dennis Hancock officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

        JASONVILLE — Earl Richard "Dick" Myers, 70, of Jasonville, died Friday at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

        He was a laborer, retiring in 2000.

        Survivors include his companion, Norma Jean Fulton; two sons, Waylon E. Myers and Kenneth D. Myers of Monticello, Ky.; one daughter, Tasha L. Myers, of Monticello, Ky.; three brothers, Eugene Myers of LaPorte, Danny Myers of Shelburn, and Larry Myers of Jasonville; and two sisters, Shirley Glascoe and Mary Syler, both of Dayton, Ohio.

        Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Sassafras Cemetery in Linton.

        There will be no visitation.

        Earl Richard "Dick" Myers, 70, of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born February 15, 1937, in Linton, Indiana, to Norval and Alma (Miller) Myers, one of (16) children. Dick was a laborer, retiring in 2000.

        Surviving is a companion, Norma Jean Fulton, two sons Waylon E. Myers and Kenneth D. Myers of Monticello, KY; one daughter, Tasha L.         Dick was preceded in death by his parents and seven brothers: Ernest, Donnie, Ronnie, Ricky, Roy, Kenny and Orval Myers and two sisters Ernestine Myers and Shirley Glascoe.

        There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 5th, 2007, at the Sassafras Cemetery in Linton.

 

Myers, Ruth M. Myers

Ruth Mary Myers, 96, of  Potosi, Missouri, died Feb. 12, 2007, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington. She was born Jan. 20, 1911, in Woodsfield, the eldest daughter of John Ambrose and Mary Glesenkamp Schumacher.  She attended St. Sylvester’s Catholic School and Woodsfield High School. She worked in Columbus and earned her beautician’s license for the State of Ohio.  On Dec. 30, 1943, at St. Sylvester’s Church in Woodsfield, she was married to Lt. Frank W. Myers, USN. After Frank’s resignation from the Navy and rejoining the U.S. Forest Service, they arrived in Potosi in November of 1948 for Frank’s new assignment as Assistant Ranger of the Potosi District.  Besides her role as wife and mother, she was active in Our Lady Sodality at St. James Church, and remained involved with the school and other parish activities through the 1950’s and 60’s.  She served 10 years as chairman of the Red Cross Blood Program in Washington County and also served several years as a member of the Missouri State Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.

Surviving are two sons, Frank J, (Karen) Meyers of Potosi, Philip A. (Teresa) Meyers of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Mary R. Koch of Potosi; a sister, Grace Froelicher of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Nell Schumacher of Woodsfield; 23 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 60 years, Frank W. Meyers; three brothers, Alfred Schumacher of Ohio, John Schumacher of Connecticut and infant James Schumacher; and a sister, Esther Foskett of Connecticut.

Friends were received Feb. 15 at Moore Funeral Home, Potosi, Missouri. Funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 16 at Moore Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Thomas Mroczka officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband, with final prayers and burial in Calvary Cemetery, in Potosi.  Memorial contributions may be made for Masses in care of Moore Funeral Homes, Potosi, Missouri.

 

Naze, Ralph J. Naze

        Ralph J. Naze, 84, of Prairie Ridge Ct., Sheboygan, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Wednesday morning, October 17, 2007.

        Ralph was born August 15, 1923 in Rosiere, Wisconsin to Joseph and Josephine (Charles) Naze. He graduated from Southern Door High School in Brussels, Wisconsin, Class of 1941.

        During W.W. II, Ralph served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Long Island.

        Ralph was a district agent for Woodmen Accident & Life from 1952 - 1965. He became a Sheboygan resident in 1953. During that time, he was named Woodmen’s Agent of the Year in 1960, and was appointed state manager in 1964 for lower Michigan.

        In 1966, Ralph joined the Massachusetts Mutual Financial Group in Sheboygan, where he received numerous awards including the Appleton Mass Mutual General Agency Agent of the Year Award for 20 consecutive years. He was a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and earned his CLU designation in 1970. Ralph was president of the Sheboygan Association of Life Underwriters in 1960 and State Director the following year.

        On June 27, 1988 he was united in marriage to Jacquelin B. Sherman of Sheboygan in Las Vegas.

        Ralph was an avid sports fan and participated in numerous sports with his family and friends. He spent many hours on the golf course and was a member of Pine Hills Country Club for years. Ralph was a loyal follower of the Green Bay Packers and UW Athletics. Active in the community, Ralph served as secretary and treasurer of the Lakeshore Kiwanis Club, a former member of the Sheboygan Jaycees, Knights of Columbus and was a life member of the Sheboygan Elks Lodge #299.

        Ralph was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish. He served on the school board and finance committee and enjoyed coaching the girl’s basketball team for several years. He was currently a member of the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

        Surviving Ralph are his sons, Michael Naze of Sheboygan and Scott (Richelle) Naze of Waukesha; his daughters, Maureen (Raymond) Calvesio of Apple Valley, Minnesota, Lisa (David) Flood of Plymouth, Patti (Andy) Raml and Kathy (Tim) Kohlbeck of Sheboygan. He enjoyed his 10 grandchildren, Gina Calvesio, Nikki Maloney, Kyle and Jake Raml, Megan and Andrea Flood, Luke and Sarah Kohlbeck and Lauren and Michael Naze and enjoyed participating in sports and other activities with them. He is also survived by his step children, Gary Van Auken of Deerfield, Wisconsin, Peggy (Reid) Hanzalik of Crestwood, Kentucky, David (Deborah) Van Auken of Antigo, Wisconsin, Sherri (Terry) Rusch-Regenwether of Sheboygan, Traci (Tom) Holtan of Sheboygan, Kelly Olson of DeForest, Wisconsin and Richard Sherman of Sheboygan; seventeen step-grandchildren; and three great-step-grandchildren.

        In addition to his parents and wife, Jacqueline, Ralph was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Joseph and Benjamin; and five sisters, Libby Krieser, Laura Powers, Marie Van Der Vest, Ceil May and Agnes Bouche.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 11:00 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church by Rev. Glenn Powers, the Pastor. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.

        The family requests memorials be made to Immaculate Conception Parish, St. Vincent DePaul Society or the Child Abuse and Neglect Fund of Sheboygan County Health and Human Services.

        A heartfelt thanks is extended to Dr. Barnes, Dr. Bettag, Dr. Coulis, Dr. DeTrana and the rehabilitation staff at St. Nicholas Hospital.

        Vernon had been a herdsman and Instructor Emeritus at Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center.

        He was a member of Wooster United Methodist Church, member of Westwood Ruritans and volunteered at Wooster Township Fire Department for a number of years. He also volunteered for Wooster Community Hospital Medical Alerts and was one of the founders of OARDC Credit Union.

        Surviving are his wife, Beverly R. (Bodey) Neuhardt, to whom he had been married 53 years; his children, David (Sharen) Neuhardt of Yellow Springs, Craig Neuhardt of Salisbury, N.C., Jane (Chris) Fickes of Wooster and Rick Neuhardt of Wooster; grandchildren, Alex and Colin Fickes and Ann and Rob Gage; sisters, Nadine Knowlton of Columbus and Delys Bodenhausen of Hilandville, Mo.

        He was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Green and a brother, Richard Neuhardt.

Preceded in death by 5 sisters: Magaline Palmer, Mamie Holliday, Jessie Dietz, Margaria Ady, and Amanda Ady. 3 Brothers: Charles, Milton, and Albert Ady.

        MILLERSBURG -- Another star was placed in the heavens Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, when Richard Allen Norris, 52, of Millersburg, surrounded by his loving family in his home, came to the end of his courageous battle with cancer.

        Richard was born Oct. 6, 1955, to Ralph W. and Maggie J. (Giauque) Norris in Millersburg. Employed by Fleewood Travel Trailers for 32 years, he worked in several different states and easily made many lifetime friends wherever he went. He had a quality about him that drew you to him and made you want to share time and tales with him.

        He loved and enjoyed family, friends, NASCAR races (or racing of any kind), camping, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing, woodworking, crafting with his wife, music, barbecuing and the Indiana Covered Bridge Festival.

        He is survived by his devoted wife and caregiver, Brenda; children, Jared (Brenda) Norris of Richmond Heights, Amber Didinger (Julio Guerra) of Killbuck and Heather (Chris) Laurie of Fairmount, W.Va.; sisters, Jan Ochs of Killbuck, Rita Norris of Killbuck and Gayle Patterson of Millersburg; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Tom) Patton of Loudonville and Donna (Kirby) Crane of Millersburg; stepfather, Perry Rine of Killbuck; mother-in-law, Barb Price of Millersburg; and father-in-law, Ben (Julie) Knox of Wooster. Grandpa will be sadly missed by grandchildren, Zach, Devan, Dylan, Cole, Ricky, Reilly, Isabella, Gabe, Grace, Rose, Maggie and Aubrey. He will be fondly remembered and forever kept in the hearts of his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

        Richard was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ralph Edward Norris.

Preceded in death by a great nephew, David.

He was born Jan. 10, 1940 in Paris, Pa., a son of the late Azel and Ruth Sayre Norris.  He was a retired Administrator of Safety and Traffic with Midwest Steel and Alloy of Youngstown and Cleveland. He was a graduate of Jefferson Union High School, was a veteran of the US Air Force and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Goddard Norris, whom he married April 26, 1963; three daughters, Valerie (James) Wright of Vienna, W.Va., Laurie Kay (Christopher) Fox of Frederickstown, Renee (David) Mullett of Chardon; nine grandchildren, Willow, Walker, Weston, Tyler, Cody, Danee, Truxton, Scott,  CoraRuth; a brother, Alan of Hopedale; two sisters, Arline (Kenneth) Firm of Campbell, Mary Ellen Miller of Fairborn; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Raymond and Lois Goddard.

        HAROLD  EUGENE  OLDHAM, JR., a resident of Eureka Springs, AR, was born August 18, 1944, in Dennison, TX, a son of Harold E. Sr. and Margaret (Phillips) Oldham. He departed this life Sunday, May 6, 2007 in Fayetteville, AR, at the age of 62. 

        Mr. Oldham was a travel agent and a member of Button Memorial United Methodist Church in Little Elm, Texas. He also attended the First United Methodist Church in Eureka Springs. 

       On August 2, 1989, he was united in marriage with Virgilyn Centeno who survives him of the home.         James G. Oliver, 81, of Bowling Green died at 6 p.m. Feb. 12, 2007, at The Medical Center at Franklin.

        The Warren County native owned and operated Oliver’s Used Cars and attended First Apostolic Church. He was a son of the late Charles Oliver and Lillie Mae White Oliver. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Alice Oliver and Agnes Houchens; three brothers, Willie Oliver, Jr. Oliver and Douglas Oliver; and a son, James B.* Oliver.

        Funeral is at 1 p.m. Thursday at J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Home, Broadway Avenue chapel, with burial in Goshen/Bethany Church Cemetery at Alvaton. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert F. Oliver, 74, of Randolph Road, Marietta, died at 11:09 a.m.

Wednesday (Dec. 19, 2007) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.He was born on June 15, 1933, in Parkersburg, a son of William Franklin Oliver and Thelma Luverna Tuell Oliver.

He had been employed at Fenton Art Glass. Bob attended Lawrence Baptist Church, was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Korea, a member of Purple Heart Club of Washington County, a member of VFW 5108, a member of American Legion Post 159 of Williamstown, and was past

president of American Flint Glass Workers Local 22.

On Dec. 31, 1970, he married Marlyn Theobald. She survives with three sons, Robert F. (Barbara) Oliver Jr. of New Matamoras, Stephen C. (Anna) Oliver of Marietta, Michael A. (Melody Dearth) Oliver of Marietta; four grandchildren, Robert F. Oliver III, Bryan David Oliver, Michael James Dye, Rachael Strickler; and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Charles E. Oliver and Larry L. Oliver both of Williamstown and William H. Oliver of Boston, Mass.; two sisters, Kathleen Brookover of Marietta and Carolyn Brookover of Williamstown; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Pastor Gale Lauderman officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Cemetery with full military rites by Williamstown Post 159 of the American Legion. Opal graduated from Summerfield High School and attended Muskingum College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, she was a retired school teacher and taught 1st  grade for 37 years in Noble, Monroe, and Guernsey County and retired from Oakland School in 1972. She was a member of the National, State and County Teacher's Organizations. Opal volunteered for 12 years at Cambridge Health Care Center and was named ''Volunteer of the year'' in Nursing Homes in Ohio in 1993 by the Ohio Health Care Association.

Opal is survived by 2 nieces: Denise Evans of Massillon, Ohio and Amy Murphy of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 5 nephews: James R. VanDyne of Englewood, Oh, Dennis Orahoske of Cambridge, Dennis Owens of Charlottesville, Va., Kenneth Owens of Laport, Ind., James Owens of Michigan City, Ind. 2 sisters-in-laws: Dorothy VanDyne of Barnesville, Oh, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Orahoske of Cambridge. Several cousins,  Donald Bishop of Cambridge and Kathy Chester of Caldwell.

Richard  Paul  Pointer  of  Brownsburg

        Richard Paul Pointer of Brownsburg died Thursday at the age of 57.

        Mr. Pointer had been a route deliveryman for Atkinson Enterprises and was an Army veteran.

        He was a member of Connection Pointe Christian Church and the Brownsburg American Legion, where he was a former post chaplain.

        Survivors include his wife Shirley Pointer; son Steven (Stacey) Pointer; daughters Kimberly (Rey) Delarosa, Shannon (William Sr.) Hall, and Kelly (Thomas) Taylor; his mother, Madelyn Pointer; two sisters; and 11 grandchildren.

        Preceding him in death were his father, Richard Pointer, and a brother.

        Graveside services and interment will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Brownsburg Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

        She was born February 10, 1947 at Charleston, a daughter of Charles Everett Dillon of Ripley and the late Mary Kathleen Davis Dillon.

        She was a retired teller from City National Bank, formerly Bank of Ripley, with 40 years of service. She was also a member of the Ripley Tabernacle Baptist Church.

        In addition to her father, survivors include her son Larry Eugene Parsons, Jr., of Ripley; step-mother Helen Dillon of Ripley; sister Beverly Sue Dillon of Ripley; step-brother Richard Winter of Waynesboro, VA; step-sisters Terry Lynn Faunce of Townville, PA and Susan Detwiler of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren Emily Shinn, Dylan Parsons and Ryley Parsons; nieces Yvette Welling of Given and Brandy Nelson of Ripley; nephew Mike Clark of Winfield and special friends Zella Fisher and family; Fonda Moore and Ginger Stephens.

        In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Larry E. Parsons, Sr.

        Rachel Ellen Peddicord, 70, of Pugh Road, East Liverpool, Ohio, passed away peacefully at her residence.

        She was born and raised in East Liverpool on August 23, 1936 and was the loving daughter of the late Loren & Pauline (McCall) Griffin. Mrs. Peddicord lived her entire life in the area as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and great-grandmother. She had worked as a private care giver.

        Her husband, James W. Peddicord preceded her in death on October 29, 1981.

        She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

        Arnold E. “Gene” Petty, 80, of Williamstown passed away Sept. 14, 2007, at the Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born July 23, 1927, in Wood County, a son of the late John Rex and Murhl Bauman Petty.

        Gene was retired from Union Carbide after 35 years of service. He was a member and former elder at the North End Church of Christ, where he served for 16 years. Gene was an U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene was a beloved husband and father and will be sadly missed by family and friends.

    Timothy James Piatt, age 35, died in an accidental drowning March 16, 2007 in Dry Creek River Waterford, California.  He was born March 12, 1972 in Barnesville, Ohio.

    He is survived by his parents: Don and Karen Piatt of Senecaville, Ohio formerly of Waterford, California. His children: Cyndi,age 16 and Christopher, age 15 ,both of Hickman, California. One sister, Christy and one brother, David, both of Buffalo, Ohio, grandmother Alice L. Niles of San Jose, California.

    He was preceded in death by his grandparents Frank & Dorothy Piatt of Woodsfield, Ohio and his grandfather Bertrum Niles of San Jose, California,

Tim moved to California when he was 15 and attended Hughson High School. He was an Eagle Scout, Police academy graduate and a truck driver.  He attended the Healing Place Church in Hughson where a memorial service was held March 21, 2007. He dearly loved his children and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed fishing, outdoors, rodeo, racing and loved the Steelers. He is fondly remembered for his ready smile, sense of humor, compassion, and hard work. He will be greatly missed.

        Richard Allen Pitner, 85, of Angier, N.C., died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at his home following a long, hard battle against cancer. He was born April 28, 1922, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of Elsie Monigold and Seth Green. He served in the U.S. Army, 7th Airborne Squadron, 13th Air Force, as a highly decorated fighter pilot in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. After his service to his country, Mr. Pitner spent time as a commercial pilot, a long-haul trucker and a charter fisherman in Key West, Fla.

        He is survived by his children and their families, Charles Bart (Mary Anna) Pitner and sons, Zachary and Conner Pitner, of Rostraver Township, Rebecca Lynn (Rodney) Flournay, Glenn Edwin Pitner, and Gregory Allen (Lowanna) Pitner and children Brittni Jo and Cody Pitner.

        Mr. Pitner was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Jo Richmond Pitner, of Moundsville, W.Va., on Feb. 16, 1978.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Cramer; her second husband, Earl "Peanut" Pittman; a sister, Shirley Headley; a brother, Larry Milhoan; a grandson, Adam Eichhorn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor; her father, Joseph Couture; and her stepfather, Lester Haines.

Surviving are two sons, Victor Jon Pittman of Woodsfield, Ohio, and Alex Pittman of Bedford, Pa.; two daughters, Ann Pittman of Seattle, Wash., and Erica Pittman of the home; her mother, Loretta Haines of Shadyside, Ohio; her stepmother, Edith Couture of Woodsfield; two brothers, Ed Couture of Woodsfield, and Joe Couture of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Susan Brown of Shadyside, Maridell Couture of Cleveland, Ohio, Betty Jo Mellott of Beallsville, Ohio, and Marianne Rafig of Chicago.

    Randall L. Pittman, 22, of Jerusalem, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 in Barnesville Hospital as the result of an ATV accident.  He was born Sept. 23, 1984 in Bellaire, the son of Scott and Karen Coe Pittman.

    Surviving in addition to his parents with whom he resided are his fiance', Ashley Nelson, of Beallsville; grandparents, Ronald and Nora Moore Pittman of Jerusalem and Virgil and Barbara Casto Coe, of Beallsville; his great-grandmothers, Fern Moore and Hildred Mareno, both of Woodsfield and Bernice Coe of Wellsburg, W.         She is survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

        Richard D. Porter, 44, of Crocker, formerly of Lebanon, died Sunday afternoon, June 3, 2007, in his home in Crocker.

        He was born July 27, 1962, in Lebanon, to Roy Lee and Doris Jean Mings Porter.

        He married Angelina Jennings, who preceded him in death in 2004.

        He also was preceded in death by his parents;* a brother, Fay "Ras" Porter and a sister, Freida Berry.

        For many years he worked at Independent Stave Company and also as a farm hand for Deb Long farms.

        He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon.

        Survivors include two daughters, Sera and Mae Porter, both of Crocker; two sons, Richard Porter, Jr. and Ethan Porter, both of Lebanon; a grandson, Michael; his mother, Doris Porter,* of Springfield; four sisters, Cindy Jones and her husband, Larry, of Seymour; Jo Sharp and her husband, Jim, of Dixon; Vicky Boiko and her husband, Vladimar, of Greeley, Colo.; Loretta Sweeney, of Wichita, Kan.; a number of nieces and nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

        Services for Richard D. Porter will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home.

        Richard Dean Porter, son of Roy Lee and Doris Jean Mings Porter, was born July 27, 1962, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, June 3, 2007, in his home, in Crocker, Missouri, at the age of forty-four years, ten months, and six days.

        He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife, Angelina Chambers Porter. Richard is survived by two daughters, Sera Porter and Mae Porter, both of Crocker, Missouri; two sons, Richard Porter, Jr. and Ethan Porter, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Michael; his mother, Doris Porter, of Springfield, Missouri; four sisters, Cindy Jones, and her husband, Larry, of Seymour, Missouri, Jo Sharp, and her husband, Jim, of Dixon, Missouri, Vicky Boiko, and her husband, Vladimir, of Greeley, Colorado, and Loretta Sweeney, of Wichita, Kansas; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

        He was born and raised in the Lebanon community, and lived most of his life in the Lebanon area. Since Angelina’s passing, he had made his home in Crocker, Missouri. He worked for the Independent Stave Company for several years, and also had been a farmhand on the Deb Long Farms. Richard had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed attending sales and collecting knives. Although he had several health problems for the last several years, he bore his illness with great courage and determination. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his children. Richard was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be greatly missed, but the memories he made for his family and friends will live on forever in their hearts. He suffered on this earth….but now he has his reward.

        Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 7, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will follow the service. Services are under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.

        She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kenneth Meeks Sr.

    Marvin Dale Price, 66, of Bethesda, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at his home. He was born Jan. 2, 1941 in Barnesville, a son of Hilda McFarland Price, and the late Samuel Price.   Dale was retired from the Morton Salt Co. of Rittman, Ohio and served in the US Army.

    Surviving are his mother, Hilda McFarland Price of Bethesda; sons, John (Lori) Price of Creston, Ohio, Bernie (Deanne) Price, and Michael Price, all of Wooster; two adopted daughters, Paula and Jillayne, of Texas; his former wife and lifelong friend, Barbara Gatten Price; a sister, Lois Jane Wadleigh of Maine; brothers, Jim of Beallsville and Alan of Hendrysburg, and seven grandchildren.

    Dale will be missed by his special friends, Harlan Bell, Mark Fraley, Rusty Lucas, Bill Ray, Tom Wright and extra special friend, Robbie Powell, his many friends in the Bethesda area, and at the Morton Salt Company.

She was born June 20, 1912, Barnesville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edward Froehlich and Lillian Chambers Froehlich.  She was a member of the St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Woodsfield. She was valedictorian of the Barnesville High School Class of 1930. Preceding her marriage she was an elementary school teacher at Trinity Catholic School on Wheeling Island.  She and her husband, Elmer A. Rausch with her sister-in-law Hilda Rausch published the Monroe County Beacon for over 30 years. In later years she continued to proof read for the new owners until December of 2005.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer A. Rausch in 1993; sister-in-law, Hilda Rausch; two brothers, Bernard and Leo Froehlich; one infant sister, Bernice Froehlich.

Ephraim, Ohio and Caldwell Elementary, Caldwell, Ohio; former mayor of Summerfield, Ohio for 12 years; member of the former Summerfield United Methodist Church, Summerfield, Ohio and attended the Summerfield Church of Christ, Summerfield, Ohio; a member of the former Order of Eastern Star, Summerfield, Ohio; member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society and a member of the Noble County Retired Teachers Association.

        In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Reed on January 14, 1966; one sister, Marguerite Norris.

        Dwight Dorse Reynolds, 93, of Sanford, passed away October 28, 2007.

        Mr. Reynolds was born December 30, 1913 in Rushville, IN, the son of the late John and Rhode (Heider) Reynolds.

        In Rushville he farmed for 15 years and was employed with New Salem High School for 20 years.

        He came to Central Florida in 1970. He was employed with Hub Industrial Supplies in Orlando, and the Mobile Filling Station of Sanford.

        Mr. Reynolds was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Ware Bible Class.

        Mr. Reynolds was predeceased by his wife Evelyn M. Reynolds in 1996; the two were married for 63 years. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Marilyne Wall in 1988. He is survived by his children, Blythe B. (Dean) Smith of Sanford, Dwight L. (Elena) Reynolds of Centennial, CO, and Robert (Dianne) Reynolds of Connersville, IN. Mr. Reynolds is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 14 great great grandchildren.

Reynolds, 94, of Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She was born September 24, 1912 to the late Charles Drury and Minnie Morris Drury Thrasher in Tell City, IN.  She was a member of Breckenridge United Methodist Church, worked in the family grocery for many years and enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning as a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. Reynolds on February 4, 1988.

Survivors include her sons, Dr. James M. Reynolds of Rockville, IN, Charles H. Reynolds and William C. Reynolds, both of Owensboro and a step-son, John D. Reynolds of Owensboro.  Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

        Visitation services will be on Sunday, October 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Bass and Gasper Funeral Home in Westport. Funeral services will be on Monday, October 8 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Westport Cemetery.

Everett A. “Bud” Riel, 91, New Martinsville, died March 4, 2007, in New Martinsville. He was born Jan. 10, 1916, in New Martinsville, the son of John and Rena Pyles Riel.  He was a steelworker and a dairy farmer.

Surviving are his loved wife of 64 years, Mildred Dunlap Riel; son, David (Iona) Riel, granddaughter, Kathryn (Randy) Finley; great-grandson, Tyler Finley; his nurse, Daniel Bolen; aide and caregiver, Dianna Lynn Glendenning; two sisters, Eloise and Edna Riel; nephew, Wayne Riel; two great-nephews, Jeff and Brian Riel; and two great-nieces, April Riel Daugherty and Jennifer Riel Vanghan and their children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Riel; and a son, John Riel.

Friends will be received March 7, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Iams Funeral Home, New Martinsville, where services will be held March 8, at 1 p.m., with Rev. David Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Northview Cemetery.

        Edinburg -- Edwin F. Riggenbach, 93, of Edinburg died Monday at Longmeadow Care Center.

        Born March 25, 1914, in Sardis, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Mary Belle (nee Shaw) Riggenbach, Edwin was a member of the Edinburg United Church. He was employed at the Ravenna Lumber Co. until his retirement at age 62. Mr. Riggenbach was also a part-time carpenter and farmed 80 acres in Palmyra Township where he resided with his family.

        Mr. Riggenbach was preceded in death by his wife Mable Turner Riggenbach, to whom he was married 35 years, in December 1972; also preceded by his daughter Patricia Ann and his second wife, Ruth (Burt) Riggenbach in 2004.

        Survivors include his children: Eddie (Mary) Riggenbach of Edinburg, Randy Riggenbach of Reno, Nev., Bonnie (Bob Holmes) Riggenbach of Rapid City, S.D., and Linda (Richard) Robb of Berlin Center; a brother: Oscar Riggenbach; a sister: Irene Siska; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

        Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Steven Mortach at 1 p.m. Friday. Private burial will follow.

        Stephen Meade Rinard passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road. Funeral services will be at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. A military burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.

        Stephen Meade Rinard was born in Breckenridge, Texas on July 7, 1942 to Meade Withington and Ella Agnes Rinard. Steve attended East Ward Elementary, Breckenridge Junior High School, and Breckenridge High School. He graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1960. As a young man, Steve attended Camp Stewart in Hunt, Texas for three years. At age 14, from 1956-1960, he worked for the Safeway Grocery Store in Breckenridge. After graduation, Steve and his four close friends, Sam Rogers, Joe Provenza, Eddie Clark, and Jimmy Frasier, left June 17, 1960 on a 12,000 mile, two month trip through the western United States, Canada, and Alaska. Traveling in a 4-wheel drive double cab international truck, equipped with a 9-foot cabin, they fulfilled a 4-year ambition first begun when they were freshmen.

        Steve graduated from the University of Texas in 1965 with a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration. While at the University of Texas, from 1961-1965, he was a Committee Clerk for the House of Representatives in Austin, Texas.

On November 19, 1966, Steve married Carolyn Eunelle Short in Abilene, Texas.

        From 1966 to 1967, Steve worked for his father in Breckenridge as an Independent Oil Operator. In 1967, they moved to Monahans, Texas where Steve worked for Dowell Chemical. From 1967 to 1969, Steve worked for Titches-Goettinger as a men's clothing buyer in Dallas, Texas. From 1969 to 1976, Steve was a buyer and manager for the Minter's Department Stores in downtown, River Oaks, and Sweetwater, Texas. During this time, Steve became a member of the Rotary Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. He received many awards including JC of the year in 1973. From 1974 to 1975, Steve attended Hardin-Simmons University and obtained his Business Composite teacher certification. In 1976, Steve became a teacher in the Vocational (Career and Technology) Department at Abilene High School. He also taught AP (Honors) Economics at Abilene High School. Abilene High School made Steve an honorary member of their Future Farmers of America chapter. From 1977 to 1978, he received a Career Technology Certification from Texas A&M University. Concurrently with teaching at Abilene High School, he taught in the evenings at Cisco Junior College. He was the Department Chair of the Career and Technology Department until his retirement in 2006. He loved Abilene High School, Royce Curtis, Terry Bull, and faculty of the Career and Technology Department so very much.

        Steve and Carolyn were Cooper High School band officers from 1987 to 1991 and from 1996 to 2000. They were band treasurers and accompanied the Cooper Band to both the Rose Bowl Parade in 1990 and to Hawaii in 2000. Steve was an ardent supporter of both Abilene High School and Cooper High School athletic programs for many years. In 1991, Steve became a loyal supporter of Baylor University and the Baylor Bears. He attended all sporting events for Baylor. Watching Cowboy football and Texas Ranger baseball were his favorite weekend activities.

        Steve's favorite summers for 26 years were family vacations spent in motor homes, travel trailers, and National Lodges in the state parks of Texas and the National Parks. Grand Teton, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon National Parks were his very favorites.

        Steve spent 21 total years in the military. He joined the Texas National Guard in Breckenridge and spent 10 years in Field Artillery. He then transferred to the 490th Civil Affairs Unit of the Army Reserve in Abilene and spent 11 years. He was a Fire Directions Supply and Operations Staff Sergeant earning the rank of E7. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1987 and 1989. He retired from Active to Retired Reserves in January of 1989.

        Steve was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law, Kenneth Cameron Short and mother-in-law, Ila Belle Brewer Short. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn Eunelle Short Rinard, daughter Lynlee Ila Rinard Ridley and husband Philip Lynn Ridley, son Cameron Stephen Rinard, grandson Reed Stephen Ridley, and granddaughter Caroline Oneal Ridley, brother-in-law Kenneth Cameron Short II, sister-in-law Kathee Short, all of Abilene, Texas, sister Lucinda Dollins of Conroe, nieces Renee Saldana and Monique Saldana of Houston, and nephew Ryan Dollins of Houston.

        Pallbearers will be: Dr. David Polnick, Hubert Pickett Jr., Terry Bull, Gail Gregg, Pat Donahue, John McAden, Don Summers, and Russell Ellison all of Abilene, Texas.

She attended St. Paul's Trail Run Church and the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. She was a member of the St. Paul's Ladies Aid Society, and a member of the New Matamoras Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She dedicated her life to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years: William D. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie L. Harris Robbins on July 3, 2003; two sons, George Carlyle Robbins and Donald C. Robbins, Jr. and one grandson, Kyle Boughner.

        Edward (Duane) Rogers, age 77, of Edina, Missouri died at his home, December 12, 2007 under the care of his wife Diane, friend Sharon Culler, and also Hospice of Northeast Missouri.

        Duane was born March 5, 1930 in Hedrick,* Iowa, the son of Santford Edward and Edna Kopsieker Rogers.

        On August 21, 2000 in Miami, Oklahoma, he married Diane Rudicil.

        Surviving are his wife Diane Rogers of Edina, Missouri; two sisters, Florence Kriegshauser and husband Jim of Peoria, Illinois and Maurine Shearer and husband Stanley of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Debbie Miller and husband Keith of Muskogee, Oklahoma; one brother-in-law, Jim Rudicil and wife Paula of Edina, Missouri and Raymond and Carolyn Rudicil of Edina, Missouri; three children, Laura Patton of Waynesville, Missouri, Kathy Tallant and husband Brian of Waynesville, Missouri, and Michael Rogers and wife Laura of Richland, Missouri, five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

        Duane was preceded in death by his parents.

        Duane was raised in the Novelty, Missouri area and he served his country in the United States Air Force from January 5, 1954 to January 4, 1957. Duane worked in the Ford assembly plant in Kansas City, Missouri for a time and later he drove a propane truck for MFA Oil and Christian County Gas in Ozark, Missouri for twenty five years until his retirement. He then moved back to Edina in 1994.

        Duane enjoyed traveling and camping with Diane and his dog Blacky and also going to tractor shows and visiting with his two best friends, John Mason and Dwain Perrigo and many others. Duane had a great love for riding his Minneapolis Moline tractor and enjoyed being outdoors.

        At his request, Duane is going to be cremated and there will be no services, but there will be a celebration of his life on December 29, 2007 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Memorial Post #4822 in Edina, Missouri.

        Gresham resident Besse Elizabeth (Hayes) Ross, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 1, in Gresham.

        Inurnment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery at a later date.

        Besse was born June 16, 1923, in Keokuk County, Iowa, to Don and Ethel (Hollingsworth) Hayes. She attended Iowa State College, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in dietetics in 1944. While at school, she met James “Jim” Ross, who was serving in the Navy.

        On Sept. 30, 1945, she married Jim in Portland.

        Besse taught first grade at Orient Grade School for 19 years. She enjoyed traveling, studying Indian cultures and working with many different crafts. As a member of the Damascus Craft School for 25 years, she excelled at weaving, with a specialty in Navajo rugs.

        She was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Hayes, and son, Don Ross.

        Survivors include her husband of Gresham; sisters, Jean Lampe of Clinton, Iowa, Nelle Scalf of Wellman, Iowa; brothers, Wade Hayes of Wellman, Harvey Hayes of Phoenix, Ariz; daughters, Jean Watson of San Antonio; Janet Bortnem of Newberg and Sandy Kucharczyk of Breckenridge, Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

    Friends will be received at the Watters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007. Friends then received from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Crum Ridge Church of Christ near Caldwell, Ohio with Bob Vincent officiating. Rowley, Paul Eugene Rowley

    NEW MATAMORAS - Paul Eugene Rowley, 73, of 45295 Ludolph Ridge, New Matamoras, died at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 21, 2007) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.  He was born April 30, 1933, at Fly, Ohio (Monroe County) to Joseph Edgar and Viola Clutter Rowley. Paul served in the U.S. Army from June 11, 1955, to May 30, 1956, and had served two years prior to being called back for Korea. He returned to work 27-plus years as a labor foreman for the Ohio Department of Transportation. He was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. He served on the Monroe County Fair Board for 35 years and was a member of New Matamoras Post 6387, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and Hannibal Post 760, American Legion.

    He is survived by one brother, James W. Rowley of Fly; one sister, Alice Penny of East Liverpool, Ohio; special friend, Annette Yonley of New Matamoras; special grandson, Jason Clutter of Fly; and several nieces and nephews.

    He married Sara Edinger Rowley on June 3, 1961; she died June 2, 2004.  He was also preceded in death by his parents.

    Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 24, 2007) at Hadley Funeral Home,

New Matamoras Chapel, with the Rev. Frank Conley and the Rev. James Dickey officiating. Burial will be in Matamoras Cemetery with military honors conducted by Hannibal Legion Post 760.         PEGGY ANN ROWLEY (nee Huckabee) Age 55, of Lowell, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, David; 1 son, Wesley Rowley of Lowell; her mother, Pauline Austin of Paragould, AR; 1 brother, Shane Huckabee of Paragould, AR; 1 sister, Jennifer (Larry) Humphrey of Marmaduke, AR; 1 sister-in-law, Susan Camp, of Lake of the Four Seasons, IN; 1 step-sister, Winoma (Dallas) DeHart of Paragould, AR; Aunts and Uncles, Ruel and Mildred Jones of St. Francis, AR, Gene and Freddie Widmer of Paragould, AR, Glen and Grace Jones of Wilmington, IL; Niece and nephew, Elizabeth Camp and Clayton Huckabee.

        She was preceded in death by her father, Dick Huckabee.

        A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Sheets Funeral Home, 604 E. Commercial Ave., Lowell, IN. Cremation preceeding. Burial will follow at a later date at Shiloh Cemetery in Paragould, AR.

        Peggy worked for Lowell Healthcare for 28 years in the dietary dept.

    Herman B. Rubel, 98, of 28117 Township Road 23, Summerfield, Ohio died Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio.  He was born near Calais, Ohio on September 20, 1908 a son of the late George and Mamie Ankrom Rubel.  He was a retired farmer and school teacher having formerly taught at St. Johns Rural School, Powhatan Point, Ohio, Calais School, Calais, Ohio and Dexter City School, Dexter City, Ohio.  He was a member of the Calais Church, Calais, Ohio.

    Surviving are his wife, Eleanora Thomas Rubel whom he married on June 22, 1935; one daughter: Marlene (Marvin) Van Fossen of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; one son: Neil (Elda) Rubel of Belmont, Ohio; one sister: Adelaide (Charles) Billman of Wilson, Ohio; four grandchildren: Darrell and Eric Rubel, Joy Habegger and Jeffrey Van Fossen; two great grandchildren: Jenna Habegger and Jack Van Fossen; several nieces and nephews.

      Mildred "Kate" Rusin, 94, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Monday, January 8, 2007 at Shadyside Care Center.

      She was born December 9, 1912, in Montclair, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Pete and Mary Visnic.  She was a former employee of Ohio Edison R.E. Burger Plant in Dilles Bottom and a member of the Jacobsburg Bible Church.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Rusin; two daughters, Virginia Bellville and Rose Marie Rusin; a grandson, Steven Bellville; two brothers and two sisters.

      Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Tomlinson and her husband, Sonnie, of Powhatan Point; two grandchildren, Kevin Bellville of Dilles Bottom and Mark Tomlinson and his wife, Erica, of Powhatan Point; three great grandchildren, Stephanie, Amber, and Alyssa; a sister, Helen Visnic of Cincinnati.

      Friends and family are invited to attend a committal service on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Powhatan Cemetery Chapel, Powhatan Point, Ohio with Rev.        Cathy Lee Russell, 57, of B.F. Goodrich Road, Marietta, died at 6:11 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 6, 2007) at her home.

        She was born Oct. 21, 1949, in Marietta to Dale and Hazel Berry Bules.  She was a 1968 graduate of Marietta High School.  Cathy Russell had worked as a floral clerk at Kroger for 33 years.  She lived for her grandchildren.

        She is survived by her husband, Dave Russell, whom she married on Aug. 11, 1977; a daughter, Natalie Jo Gray (T.J.) of Marietta; two sons, Nathan Russell of Marietta and Nick Russell (Traci) of Marietta; six grandchildren, Makenzie, Rileigh, Kalie, Zack, Sadie and Zoe; four stepgrandchildren, Keeper, Ty, Eli and Emrie; a brother, Donald Bules of Marietta; a sister, Joni Carpenter (John) of Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.

        She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Will Russell.

        Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Marietta Chapel of Cawley & Peoples Funeral Home.  Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to services on Friday.  Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Helen Jane Russell, 73, of 201 Cherry Street, Woodsfield, Ohio died Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at her residence. She was born at Princess Anne, Maryland on September 7, 1933 a daughter of the late Walter Francis and Mavah White Larmore Powell. She was a retired nurses aide; a member of the Woodsfield Christian Church, Woodsfield, Ohio and a member of the Women's Bowling League in Woodsfield, Ohio and Pocnoke, Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Bryan Powell and one sister, Frances Mae Pusey.

Surviving are her husband, Junior Lee Russell whom she married on November 27, 1953; four daughters: Kate (John) Mahoney of Akron, Ohio, Betty (Larry) Schaub of Lewisville, Ohio, Linda (Rex) McConnell of Lower Salem, Ohio and Janet Russell of Woodsfield, Ohio; two sons: Walter (Linda) Russell of Burlington, Iowa and Richard (Kathy) Russell of Woodsfield, Ohio; one brother: Walter Jones Powell of Princess Anne, Maryland; 26 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren. Helen was a foster mother to Joey, Sissy and Penny and an "adopted" mother to countless children and grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Wafters Funeral Home, 37501 State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio from 2-9 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2007 where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2007 with Pastor Herb Alexander officiating.

        Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, Woodsfield, Ohio.
