Lafferre of 53 years whom he married on November 22, 1953; one daughter: Karen
(Dick) Sulsberger of Woodsfield, Ohio; three sons: Kirk (Karen) Lafferre, Kevin
(Kris) Lafferre and Kasey (Patty) Lafferre all of Lewisville, Ohio; two
sisters: Virginia Rohr of Columbus, Ohio and Shirley (Eugene) Evans of
Baltimore, Ohio; ten grandchildren: Keith Lafferre, Abby (Bill) Sulsberger
Roen, Karrie Lafferre, Ryan Sulsberger, Trent Lafferre, Louis Sulsberger,
Lynsey Lafferre, Kelsey Lafferre, Korey Lafferre and Kimberly Lafferre.

with star, Master Parachutist Badge, two Bronze Stars (one for valor), two
Purple Hearts with cluster, Meritorious Service Medal, letters of commendation
and appreciation, and campaign service ribbons. He retired with the rank of
(CSM) Command Sergeant Major.

Catherine R. Truax Catherine R. Truax, age 82 of Rootstown,
went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2007.
Born August 20, 1925, in Cisne, Illinois, a daughter of the
late Ralph and Blanche (Powless) Simpson, Catherine was a former member of the
New Milford Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for over 30 years.
She was employed at Airtex in Fairfield, Illinois, and later was the First Ward
Secretary at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Truax spent much of her later
years helping her daughter with the Carriage House Gallery in Ravenna.
Catherine enjoyed traveling, sewing, crocheting, and baking cookies for her
grandkids.
Survivors include her daughters: Delora (David) Grim of
Green and Suellyn Truax of Rootstown; grandchildren: Kyle Grim and Makayla
Grim; sister-in-law: Kathleen Simpson of Fairfield, IL; nephew: Robin Simpson
also of Fairfield, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
She is strolling through heaven now with her husband David
Leon "Sonny" Truax, who passed away in 1996, and her brother Lales

Ruby Belle Voland of Nashville died at the Brown County
Health and Living Center on Monday, April 9, 2007. She was 83.
She was born on June 23, 1923, in Nashville to the late
Walter and Iva (Settles) Childs.
She married Howard Voland on April 11, 1942, in Brown
County. He survives in Nashville.
Mrs. Voland was the owner of an antique store in Nashville,
retiring in 1988. She was also an
accountant for Dale Moberly and had worked for the Brown County school system.
She was a past matron of the Nashville Order of the Eastern
Star. She had worked with the Rainbow
Girls.
She was a member of Nashville United Methodist Church and
had graduated from the Helmsburg School in1941.
She and her husband traveled on 34 different trips out
west.
Other survivors include two daughters, Donna M. Borders and
her husband Larry of Nashville, Carolyn S. Merideth and her husband Ronald of
Columbus; a sister Ferne M. Adams of Nashville, Tennessee; granddaughters,
Jennifer Bailey and Christy M. Carter, both of Nashville, and Lisa McNealy and
her husband Todd of Columbus; a grandson, Todd Merideth of South Carolina; and
five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were brothers Clarence Childs,
Allen Childs and Wayne Childs.
Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 13, at
Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home. Burial was
in Greenlawn Cemetery.

survives in Marion. He had been a machine operator for Lindley Box and McMillan
Blodell Paper Companies and also had owned and operated the Nash Photography
Studio.

of Edinburg died Monday at Riggenbach, Edwin F. Longmeadow Care Center.
Born March 25, 1914, in Sardis, Ohio, a son of the late
Frank and Mary Belle (nee Shaw) Riggenbach, Edwin was a member of the Edinburg
United Church. He was employed at the Ravenna Lumber Co. until his retirement
at age 62. Mr. Riggenbach was also a part-time carpenter and farmed 80 acres in

Edinburg, Randy Riggenbach of Reno, Nev., Bonnie (Bob Holmes) Riggenbach of
Rapid City, S.D., and Linda (Richard) Robb of Berlin Center; a brother: Oscar
Riggenbach; a sister: Irene Siska; and five grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the
Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, where funeral services
will be officiated by Rev. Steven Mortach at 1 p.m. Friday. Private burial will
follow.

Edwin F. Riggenbach Edwin F. Riggenbach, age 93 of Edinburg
passed away Monday, April 30, 7, * at Longmeadow Care Center. Born March
25, 4,* in Sardis, Ohio, a son of the late Frank and Mary Belle (nee Shaw)
Riggenbach, Edwin was a member of the Edinburg United Church. He was employed
at the Ravenna Lumber Co. until his retirement at age 62. Mr. Riggenbach was
also a part-time carpenter and farmed 80 acres in Palmyra Township where he
resided with his family. Edwin volunteered at Edinburg Township Park for 10
years. He was given the Outstanding Portage County Citizen in 8.* The first
pavilion at the park was named and dedicated to Mr. Riggenbach in 7,* and in 5*
he received the Trustee Award for Outstanding Citizen. Mr. Riggenbach was
preceded in death by his wife Mable Turner Riggenbach, to whom he was married
35 years, in December 2;* also preceded by his daughter Patricia Ann, age 19,
his second wife, Ruth (Burt) Riggenbach in 4,* sisters Olive Snell and Elsie
Martin. Survivors include his children: Eddie (Mary) Riggenbach of Edinburg,

J. Weaver, 86 of Winston-Salem, NC, formerly of Johnsonville, died Saturday,
Feb. 10, 2007 at 5:10 a.m. at Oak Summit Nursing Center at Winston-Salem, NC.
She was
a homemaker.
Service
This Saturday
Funeral
services will be held Saturday at Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne at 3
p.m. Visitation will be from 1 - 3 p.m.
Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Round Prairie Cemetery in Cisne.
Dorothy
was born Nov. 22, 1920 at Johnsonville to Fred and Grace Hilliard Beeson. She married Owen A. Weaver Mar. 30, 1940 at
Wayne City. He preceded her in death
May 6, 2004.
Dorothy
was a lifelong attendee of Round Prairie General Baptist Church. She was a leader for many years for the
Huckleberry 4-H Club.
Survivors
Survivors include two daughters, Alice Marie Weaver of Braidwood, and
Vera Jean (Ron) Hawkins of Winston-Salem, NC; and one son, Larry Owen (Carol)
Weaver of Custer Park. Also surviving
are seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, two brothers, two sisters and
her parents.

C. David
Rose, 75, of Browns Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday (Nov.
20, 2007) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was
born Feb. 18, 1932, in Wheeling, W.Va., to the late Ralph L. and Olive
Hickenbotham Rose. He received bachelor's and master's degrees from Ohio
University and a master's degree from Arizona State. David retired in 1987 as
director of the Washington County Career Center. He was a Korean War veteran
serving in the Navy aboard the USS Frank E. Evans. He was a member of the VFW
Post 64. He and his wife were owners of Rose's Cakes and Catering.
On Feb.
3, 1955, he married Martha 'Jeane' VanDyke who passed away Feb. 21, 2006.
David
is survived by three children, Debbie (Ray) Naeser of Marietta, Colleen
(Konrad) Schwoerke of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Dan (Lisa) Rose of Dublin. Also,
surviving are four grandchildren, Rachel and Phillip Naeser of Marietta, and
Lucas and Emma Rose of Dublin; two stepgrandchildren, Amanda Schwoerke of
Arlington, Va., and Michelle Schwoerke of Chicago, Ill.; sister, Sue Davis of
Mauldin, S.C.; and brother, Don Rose of Spartansburg, S.C.
In
addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his sons, Phillip
and Johnny; and brother, Dick Rose.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the
Celebration Center, 822 Front St., Marietta, with Pastor Gordie Deer
officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 1 p.m. Saturday
before the service.
McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home is assisting the family with the
arrangements.

E. Shaw, 80, of SR 255, Sardis, and formerly of Bettsville, died Thursday, June
14, 2007, at his home.
He was
born Nov. 25, 1926, in Monroe County, to William H. and Eleanor (Eikleberry)
Shaw.
Virgil
is survived by his wife of 60 years, Maxine (Gray) Shaw; four daughters, Patty
Shaw of Fostoria, Sandra Bentz of Sycamore, Linda Craun of Lavonia, N.Y., and
Kris (Don) Wiles of Beallsville; a brother, John Shaw of Sardis; 10
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He is
preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ima Gray; a brother, Russell Shaw;
and a great-grandson.

Chapel for Lyman Emerson Rinker, who died July 4 at age 99.
Mr. Rinker
was born June 16, 1908, in Portland. He graduated from Washington High School
and served in the Army during World War II in the European, African and Middle
Eastern theaters, as well as in the Office of Strategic Services. He was a
chief engineer for Leupold & Stevens and, after retiring, helped to manage
a statewide communication system of amateur radio operators collecting weather
data. In 1937, he married Vivian C. Smith; she died in 1990.
Survivors include his daughter, Susan Foust; son, Jim; two
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Paulus and Geneva Polen Paulus. He was a life long farmer, member of the
Carpenters Local Union No. 3 Wheeling, West Virginia for 50 years and a member
of the Trinity United Church of Christ Lewisville, Ohio. He is survived by his

Clara Belle Schaub age 87, of Lake Cable passed away Sunday, December 30, 2007 at her son David's
house in Clinton. She was born on August 15, 1920 in Minneapoles, North
Carolina to the late Manon and Candace Buchanan. Clara was a member of the
Canton Baptist Temple. She retired from Schaub Electric after 20 years of
services.
Clara is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley W. Schaub
Jr.; brother,Carl Buchanan and sister, Winnie. She is survived by her sons,
Wesley (Mary) Schaub of North Canton, Robert (Peggy) Schaub of North Canton,
Vernon (Brenda) Schaub of North Canton and David (Bonnie) Schaub of Clinton; 14
grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; brothers,
Jack Buchanan and Chuck Buchanan; sisters, Bea Shuster, Sue Cernick, and Marie
Harden and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 3,
2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel (801 Pittsburg

HERBERT STARKEY, 83, of Grafton Twp., OH., passed away Aug.
20, 2007 at the Southwest General Hospice Center, Strongsville, OH., following
a short illness.
Mr. Starkey was born Feb. 4, 1924 in Wheeling, WV., moving
to Lakewood, Strongsville, Grafton Twp., and he had been a resident at Villa
Camillus Nursing Home, Columbia Twp. for the past two years. Herbert retired as the head Custodian for
McKinley Elementary School, Lakewood, OH.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Charlotte
(nee Richner); daughter Bonnie (Tim) Adams; grandson, Christian (Suzanne);
great-grandson Gage Carlos Dearth Adams.
Son of the late James and Bertha Starkey; brother of the late Mildred
and Arthur.
