SAMS, Ola G., 96, of Pine Grove, W.Va.,
died Sunday, May 27, 2007, in the New Martinsville Health Care Center.
Ola was the daughter of the late
Friend and Mary Jane McCormick Staley. She was a member of the Pine Grove
Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her first husband, Earl W. Cochran, and her second
husband, David Sams; a son, Loyd Lee Cochran; and several brothers and sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Cora E.
Baumbusch of Thornville, Ohio; two sisters, Donna Siebel of Cleveland, Ohio,
and Betty Oliver of Butler, Pa.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and
7-9 p.m., Tuesday, at Palmer Funeral Home, Pine Grove, WV, where services will
be held Wednesday, at noon.
Interment at Craigs Chapel on Rt. 7 near New Martinsville,

BARBARA L. SARDOU
passed away on October 20, in Olathe, KS. She was born September 13,
1923, in Topeka, the daughter of Charles and Grace Larson. Barbara married
George F. Sardou in Topeka on June 4, 1944, and together they raised their
family in the Topeka area.
She was
preceded in death by George in 2004. Survivors include her daughter, Charlene
and her husband Orville Calhoon, of Lawrence, KS, her son Bob and his wife
Sharon Sardou, of Olathe, KS, and one grandson, Brian Sardou, Manhattan, KS.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday October 27th at 11:00 am, at
Mt. Hope Cemetery, Topeka, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers
Association or to Good Samaritan Society of Olathe, Cozy Cottage, Alzheimers

GROVER HILL – Wilma Ruth Schaffner, age 86, of Grover Hill,
died at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29 [2007] at her residence.
She was born Feb. 25, 1921 in Hoaglin Township, Van Wert
County, the daughter of Charles W. and Leota E. (Michael) Stukey. She was a
homemaker and a doctor's secretary for several years, and loved cats. She was a
member of Mt. Pleasant Church, Van Wert County.
Surviving are her husband, Cahrol O.
Schaffner, of Grover Hill; and a son, Cahrol Owen Schaffner of Grover Hill.
She was
preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Anne Schaffner; and four sisters,
Wanda Gilliland, Wilda Stukey, Wilva Bair and an infant sister.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 2, at Mt. Pleasant
Church, Van Wert, with Pastor Bill Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery, Hoaglin Township. Visitation is one hour prior to services
at the church. Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, Van Wert, is in charge of

Cable passed away Sunday, December 30,
2007 at her son David's house in Clinton. She was born on August 15, 1920 in
Minneapoles, North Carolina to the late Manon and Candace Buchanan. Clara was a
member of the Canton Baptist Temple. She retired from Schaub Electric after 20
years of services.
Clara is preceded in death by her
husband, Wesley W. Schaub Jr.; brother,Carl Buchanan and sister, Winnie. She is
survived by her sons, Wesley (Mary) Schaub of North Canton, Robert (Peggy) Schaub
of North Canton, Vernon (Brenda) Schaub of North Canton and David (Bonnie)

Retired Navy Cmdr. James W. Shelton,
77, of Newville, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, in the Harrisburg Hospital.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1929, in
Beelerton, Ky.
Cmdr. Shelton is survived by his wife,
Ruth Hursh Shelton.
He was a commander in the U.S. Navy,
serving from 1947 to 1978. He served during both the Korean conflict and the
Vietnam War. He had been the captain of three ships.
He was also a representative for John
Hancock Insurance.
Cmdr. Shelton belonged to the Big
Spring Presbyterian Church and the Military Officers Association, He was a
member of the Navy League and a Kentucky Colonel.
In addition to his wife, he is
survived by his son, James W. Shelton Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va.; three
grandchildren; and two sisters, Ann Shelton of Annapolis Md., and Wanda
Ritterback of Columbus, Ohio.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in
the Big Spring Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. William Beck officiating.
Burial with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

Herbert Starkey, 83, of Grafton
Township, passed away Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, at the Southwest General Hospice
Center in Strongsville following a short illness.
Mr. Starkey was born Feb. 4, 1924, in
Wheeling, W.Va. He moved to Lakewood, Strongsville, Grafton Township and was a
resident at Villa Camillus Nursing Home in Columbia Township for the past two
years. Herbert retired as the head custodian for McKinley Elementary School in
Lakewood. He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Shastaneers Camper Group.
He is survived by his loving wife of
60 years, Charlotte (nee Richner); daughter, Bonnie (Tim) Adams of Grafton
Township; grandson, Christian (Suzanne nee Dearth) Adams of Litchfield
Township; and great-grandson, Gage Carlos Dearth Adams of Litchfield.
He was preceded in death by his
parents, James and Bertha Sharkey [sic] of West Virginia; sister, Mildred
Starkey of West Virginia; and brother, Arthur Starkey of Michigan.
A private family burial will be held
in Belden Cemetery, Grafton Township.

WEATHERSFIELD -- Police are investigating the death of a
57-year-old man found dead on Judyth Street Wednesday* morning.
Police were called to 3029 Judyth St. at 11:26 a.m.
Wednesday* when dispatchers received reports that someone appeared to be
hanging from a tree in a yard.
James R. Thomas, 57, who address was listed as 67
Youngstown-Warren Road, was found hanging from a pine tree at the home. The coroner was notified, police said. Foul play was not suspected, police said.

many years. She became a K.O.P. in 2003. More than anything, she loved her
family and the time she spent with them.

California, Susan Yvonne Luce Fowler, and husband John, of Bloomfield, Indiana

on August 21, 2007 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville.
He was born on August 22, 1914 in Rush County, Indiana to

He was employed with General Electric for 15 years,
retiring in 1978. He served in the United States Army as Corporal during WWII.

Passed away Tuesday, January
2, 2007, from complications sustained from accidental automobile injuries.
Roger was born November 16, 1931, in Kalamazoo, the son of Clarence and
Bethanna (Brazee) Van and has been a lifelong resident. During the Korean
Conflict he served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-54. For 38 years he was employed
as a chemical engineer lab tech with The Upjohn Company. He was a former member
of the Zion Lutheran Church and was currently a member of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church. Roger served on the Mattawan School Board for 8 years; was past
president of the Kalamazoo Kennel Club and member of the American Kennel Club.
Through the years he was active in coaching his children and grandchildren in
all their sporting activities. He was also active in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and
enjoyed woodworking, but the most important part of his life was his family,
especially his grandchildren. On March 12, 1955, he was united in marriage to
the former Louise Cotton, who preceded him in death on April 25, 2005, shortly
after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in Hawaii. He was also
preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Stuart and Clarence
"Harold" Van. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Louise (John) Cakmakci
of Schoolcraft; a son, Roger Alan (Julie) Van of Vicksburg; five grandchildren,
Jonathan Cakmakci, Nicholas Cakmakci, Travis Van, Jessica Van and Hunter Van;
nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, January 5 at
the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street with
Pastor Alan R. Stadelman, officiating. Interment with full military honors will
follow in Hope Cemetery with Pastor Louis Grother, officiating. The family will
receive friends one hour prior to service on Friday from 12-1 pm at the

She was a proud employee of Wal-Mart, last working as a
stocker.

and her fiancee, Ben Cronin, of Salineville, three grandsons, Duncan, Damien

George F. Wallace, 76, of Warren passed away peacefully on
Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Mahoning Valley Hospital at Trumbull Memorial
Hospital. George was born November 28, 1930 in Warren, son of the late Edwin
and Cecelia Isabella Wallace who came to America from Durham, England.
A lifetime area resident, George was a graduate of Warren
G. Harding High School. He was a veteran of the United State Army serving
during the Korean War. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army,
George returned to Warren and began work at the Warren Baking Co. George owned
a number of establishments, most recently the Lantern Bar. In addition, George
and his wife Ora owned and managed many real estate properties in Warren and
Niles. Throughout his life, George enjoyed fishing, playing cards, music, and
sports. He was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union club for several years.
Most of all, George enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and his dog
Shunuk.
George is survived by his wife Ora V. (Judy) Wallace, whom
he married on February 15, 1964, three daughters Tana (Bob) Catron of Howland,
Debbie (Dan) Wojnarski of Niles, Kim (Ted) Kowalczyk of Howland, and two sons,
Earl Rodney Maines of Warren, and Tom (Amber) Wallace, of Howland. George is
also survived by seven grandchildren: Keith, Thomas, Jennifer and Christopher
Wojnarski, Justina Maines, Bridger Kowalczyk, Drew Guido and Logan Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marian
Mahdesian, and brothers, John, William and Robert Wallace.

Dianne Herkomer of Anderson and Steve & wife Arlene Herkomer of Pendleton;
two step-daughters, Diane Crouse of Kentucky and Kathy Jo Smith of
Jacksonville, Florida; a brother, Darwin Cotton; four grandchildren, Michelle

Texas, Melissa & husband Terrell Dilts of Anderson and Teresa & husband

ATV injuries fatal to Monroe
Twp. man
ERIE, Pa. - - A Monroe Township man died Sunday night from
injuries suffered in an all-terrain vehicle accident several hours earlier in
the township, officials said.
Bruce White, 44, of Center Road, was pronounced dead
shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, said Korac Timon,
Erie County chief deputy coroner.
White was traveling north on Sweet Road in Monroe Township
late Saturday night when he lost control and the vehicle overturned, according
to an Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman. White was ejected from the vehicle,
the OHP spokesman said.
Troopers were contacted at 10:57 p.m. Saturday.
White, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head
injuries when he fell off the ATV, Timon said. Cause of death was blunt force
trauma to the head, he said.
White was riding with two other ATV drivers , but there is
no evidence of a collision, Timon said.
The injured man was taken to UH-Conneaut Medical Center,
and then flown by helicopter to Hamot, Timon said.

E. White, age 44, of Monroe Township, Ohio, died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at
Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
Mr. White was an organ donor.
He was born Sept. 6, 1962, in Albany, Ga., the son of James
and Shirley (Welker) White.
Bruce was the owner and operator of White Excavating and
Well Drilling for the past 7 years, and had once worked for Arms Trucking.
Survivors include his mother, Shirley of Rock Creek, Ohio; his
wife, Sharon (Moisio), whom he married Feb. 14, 1994; his daughter, Samantha
White, and his son, James White, both at home; his sister, Rhonda and Brian
Platz of Carlton, Tex.; his brother, Tim White of Rome, Ohio; two nieces,
Deanna Drummond of Rock Creek, Ohio and Ashley Platz of Carlton, Tex.; and his
wife's parents, Paul and Clara Moisio of Jefferson, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his father, James; his
step-son, Pfc. Craig A. Georgia on Dec. 29, 2006; and grandmother, Minnie
Welton.

JEFFERSON -- Daniel W. "Weazer" White, age 62, of
W. Beech St., Jefferson, died Wednesday afternoon, August 29, 2007 at the
Cleveland Clinic Foundation.
A lifetime Jefferson resident, he was born on August 28,
1945 in Ashtabula to William and Dorothy (Daigen) White. After he was through
school he worked at Horner Box Co. until he was called to serve in the U. S.
Army. He served in Vietnam in 1966-67 and received an honorable discharge as
Spec. 4. Two weeks prior to his discharge, Dan was injured when a bomb exploded
as he and other soldiers left a helicopter and ran for cover. Following
treatment in the Philippines, he returned home for more training. Dan received
a Purple Heart. He was a member of the V.F.W.
He retired in 2005 from Conrail & CSX Railroads after
25 years as a car inspector. He was a caring father and friend to many. He
enjoyed his family and working in his garage, doing welding and mechanical work
for others. He also enjoyed car racing, tractor pulls and camping.
As a child, Danny's good friend, Jerry, thought he looked
like a character on "Little Rascals", thus the name
"Weazer", which has stayed with him all through the years.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Morrison White; two
children, Gail Hutzell of Jefferson and Daniel White, Jr. of Dorset; his
mother, Dorothy Steele of Jefferson; sister, Donna Conrad of Jefferson; two
half-brothers, William White and Michael White, both of Ashtabula; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his father, William White and a sister, Janet Behune.
A Veterans Service and Memorial Service will be held
Friday, September 7, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at the Vietnam Era Cobra Gunship
Helicopter, W. Beech St., Jefferson (across from Oakdale Cemetery) with Geneva
Post #6846 providing full military honors and the Rev. Gordon Emerson

Peggy Wright Williams, 71, of Moore Street died at 1:31 a.m. Thursday, April 5,
2007, at East Liverpool Convalescent Center No____,* following a lengthy
illness.
Born Dec. 22, 1935, in East Liverpool, she was a lifetime
area resident. Her father, James Perry
Wright, and her mother, Alice Elizabeth Maxwell, preceded her in death.
A homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, she also worked at several area restaurants.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Flowers of Key West,
Fla., and two sons, Clint "Randy" Williams and Timothy Williams, both
of East Liverpool.
A sister, Faye Backus of Glenmoor, and two brothers, James
M. Wright and Thomas D. Wright, both of East Liverpool, also survive.
There are 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.
