Inventoried, Measured, and Charted June 9, 2003 by R.E. Harrington

Several Latitude/Longitude/elevation measurements were made using a Global Position System (GPS) at the Fairview Methodist Cemetery.  They are recorded below:

1.       A GPS reading was made on the top step of a set of steps that leads from the road level of Ohio Rt# 800, up to the cemetery level.  These concrete steps were undoubtedly the steps that led to the Methodist Church that once stood on the site.   Accuracy = +/- 16 feet;  elevation of the top step = 1173 feet; latitude = N39o 42.839’; longitude = W081o 06.055’.

2.       A second reading was made on Charlottie A. Jackson’s tombstone:  Accuracy = +/- 18 feet;  elevation corrected to ground level = 1122 feet; latitude = N39o 42.852’; longitude = W081o 06.062’.

3.       A third reading was made on Simon P. and Ellen J. Jackson’s tombstone:  Accuracy = not recorded;  elevation corrected to ground level = 1166 feet; latitude = N39o 42.644’; longitude = W081o 06.062’.

4.       A fourth reading was made on the tombstone of Abraham Jackson (died 1861):  Accuracy = +/- 18 feet;  elevation corrected to ground level = 1157 feet; latitude = N39o 42.839’; longitude = W081o 06.073’.

5.       A fifth reading was made on the tombstone of Simon Jackson (1816 – 1910):  Accuracy = not recorded;  elevation corrected to ground level = 1150 feet; latitude = N39o 42.855’; longitude = W081o 06.083’.
