Hope Cemetery

Center Township, Monroe County, Ohio

 

This old Cemetery is located about two miles north of Woodsfield, Ohio on Ohio Rt. # 800.  It is on the right side of the road with the front boundary of the cemetery being Rt. # 800.  The church is long gone.

Note:  A large hemlock tree is located near gravesite number 19.  The open area between gravesites 33 and 62 is the location of the former Hope Church.  The approximate width of the cemetery (north to south, parallel with Rt. # 800) is 112 feet.  The approximate depth of the cemetery (east to west) is 87 feet.  The top of above chart is East and the left side faces north.  The cemetery is oriented about 3-degrees, clockwise, from being exactly on true North/South and East/West axes.

Latitude/Longitude/elevation measurements for the Hope Cemetery were made on the headstone of Louisa (Young) Keylor (Dec 22, 1883 – June 17, 1913), grave site # 2 on the chart above.  Accuracy = +/- 20 feet;  elevation corrected to ground level = 1,112 feet.
