Elias McVay Dies at Home on Minerva St.
Elias McVay, 81, passed away at his home in Minerva St., this morning
after a prolonged illness.
Mr. McVay was employed with the state Highway department, but for the
past 12 years he has been retired.
He was born in Washington County on September 1, 1865 the son of Easu
and Elizabeth Flint McVay.
He came to Wooster from Washington County in 1923.
Surviving are his wife Mary; the following children; Mrs. Cora E.
Clark, of Wooster, Everett W. McVay of Wooster Mrs. Carrie Clark of Wooster,
Mrs. Clara Cline of Columbus, Mrs. Nettie Saal of Wooster, Clifford E. McVay of
Wooster, and Ms. Amanda Boreman of Wooster; two sisters, Miss Amanda Cline
Cline of Reynords Mills, Ohio, and Maranda Kirkpatrick of Butler, Ohio; 23
grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
One daughter, Lucy Stackhouse preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from the McIntire Funeral Home on
Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. William McLaln Jr., pastor of
the Bethany Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be made in the Wooster
Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9
o`clock.

Funeral Services for Elias McVay who passed away at his home on Minerva
st., on Monday, were held frpm McIntire Funeral Home this afternoon. The Rev.
William McClaln Jr., pastor of the Bethany Baptist Church officiated at the
services.
Pallbearers were the following: Wallace Saal, Jess Garst, Wiley Cline,
Emerson Boreman, George Miller, John Kostenbader.
Burial was made in the Wooster Cemetery.
Elias McVay, was born Sept. 1, 1865. The son of Mr. Easu and Elizabeth
Flint McVay of Washington County, Ohio.
He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Burris on March 11, 1894 by the
Rev. T. S. Barnes.
The Lord richly blessed their union with ten children. whose names are
follows:
Mrs. Cora E. Clark, of Wooster, Everett McVay of Wooster Lucy
Stackhouse now deceased Mrs. Nettie Saal of Wooster, Mr. Clifford McVay of
Wooster, Mrs. Velma Miller of Shreve, Mrs. Opal Garst of Wooster, Ms. Amanda
Boreman of Wooster.
He also had twenty-three grandchildren living and three deceased. He
also had ten great grandchildren.
He had two sisters living Mrs. Miranda Kirkpatrick of Butler, Ohio; Mrs
Amanda Cline of Rinards Mills, He departed from this life January 27, 1947 at
the age of 81 years 4 months and 27 months (days).

Mary McVey, Widow of Elias
Mrs. Mary Louise Burris McVey, 86, widow of Elias McVey, died early
this morning at her home 212 Minerva St., Wooster, following a long illness.
She was born in Washington County and lived on a farm there until moving
to Wooster 37 years ago.
Surviving are seven daughters, Mrs. S. M. (Cora) Clark, of Garland,
Texas, Mrs. Frank (Carrie) Clark of Wooster, Mrs. Wiley (Clara) Cline of New
Matamoras: Mrs. Wallace (Nettie) Saal of Wooster,
Mrs. S. (Velma) Branan of Gladewater, Texas Mrs. J. E. (Opal) Garaft of
Wooster RD 1; and Mrs. Amanda Boreman of Wooster.
Also two sons Everett W. McVey and Clifford E. McVey both of Wooster,
24 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; and a great - great grandchild.
Her husband Elias McVey a daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Lucy) Stackhouse of
Rittman; and four grandchildren died previously.
Private service will be held at the Pim Funeral Home Saturday at 1:30
p.m. Burial will be in Wooster Cemetry.
Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 7 - 9 p.m.

Services for Everett McVey, who died Tuesday, were held Friday.
Pallbears were Howard Yeagley; Harry Young, Carl Snoddy, George

Members of American Legion Post 68 conferred military honors at the
cemetery, with Jane Yost acting as bugler. The flag present was made by members
of Barricks 1600. Burial was in Overton.

morning, June 27, 2005, at her home. She was formerly of Wooster.
Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home, 2284
Benden Drive, Wooster, with Pastor Ermon French officiating. Private family
interment will be at Wooster Cemetery.

went home to be with his Lord in November 1990.
She moved to Wooster in 1920, and was a devoted homemaker.
Nettie was a member of First Baptist Church in Wooster and was a
Cleveland Indians fan, an avid reader and enjoyed crocheting.
Surviving are a daughter, Evelyn Saal-Montanya of Lexington; five
grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband, her parents, seven sisters and two
brothers died previously.

Clifford Earl McVey, 74, of 4656 Old Lincoln Way West, Friday afternoon
at Smithville-Western Care Center following a seven month illness.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Wooster with
the Revs. Harrison R. Aspinal and George Myers officiating. Burial will be at
Reedsburg Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral Home.
He was born in Washington County, Ohio, in 1907 to Elias and Mary Burst
McVey and married the former Blanche Buffmyer on Dec. 21, 1932, who survives.
He had made his home in the Jefferson area for the past 48 years.
He was a retired employee of Ideal Dairy and a member of Central Christain
Church of Wooster.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Mrs. Rex (Nancy)
Kerr of Loudonville, Mrs. Donald (Linda) Robertson of Derry, Pa., Mrs. Nevin
(Barbara) Dye of Apple Creek and Mrs. Mark (Helen) Fogg of Wooster; 12
grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Wallace Saal, Mrs. Opal Garst and Mrs. Manda
Boreman, all of Wooster, Mrs. Clara Cline of Brownsville and Mrs. Velma Brannan
of Glad Water, Texas.
His parents, an infant son, two sisters, Lucy and Carrie and a brother,
Everett, died previously.
