CEMETERY RECORDS OF ST. JOHN'S

(MIDDLE CHURCH)

The monuments in the cemetery at the site of the former St. John's (Middle Church) -- German Evangelical Protestant Church located in Summit Township near Lewisville, Ohio were inventoried in 1999 by Lena (Kahrig) Pettit. A book detailing the results of this project was written by Lena and published by the Clossen Press in late 2000. Copies can be purchased through the MCC of OGS. In her book inventorying this cemetery, Lena Pettit includes a photograph of the church that was taken in the 1930's. A brief summary of the history of Middle Church is included along with a copy of the constitution of the Middle Church Cemetery Association dated April 1, 1962. The location of each monument is included on three pages of graphs. Each monument is numbered to correspond to a number in the 40 plus pages of data that follow. The data on these 40 pages contains the legible information to be found on the monument. In addition Lena annotated each entry with valuable genealogical information from her own files. The book has an excellent index and is nicely done in a soft-back cover.
