The Sycamore Valley School is one of the few one-room schoolhouses that still stands in Monroe County.  This building has been maintained in excellent condition.  It still has the old school bell in the belfry.  It was one of about 170 such schools that serviced the County in the early decades of the 20th century.  It is located about one mile from the town of Sycamore Valley, Ohio.  It is reported that this building was moved to its present location from a site higher up a hill.  It was used as a school in both its original and present location.  The school faces Ohio Route # 260 just down the hill from Creighton Ridge Church.  The coordinates of the Sycamore Valley School are Latitude: N 39o 39.827', Longitude: W081o 14.932'.  (Note:  For the coordinates of other selected sites in Monroe County, Ohio click the word "coordinates" in this sentence.)
