Hi, Glad to find this list and the repository! We have been searching
for this family for a number of years and only find dead ends. One
older relative states that she had heard as a young child that we
were related to Pres. Harrison but have yet to prove that, though our
ancestor may have been born at North Bend, Ohio, though have found
conflicting information regarding that also. Here is what we do have
and hopefully will find someone else with this line. Family legend
has it that the father of our family was a doctor in PA (possibly
Lycoming Co) and died when his daughters were young. His wife had a
dream and moved the girls to Indiana (Shelby County) which is the
first place that we can find the girls. We have never been able to
find any trace of the parents except for a genealogy which states
that the parents names were Carlisle and Jane (Dunn) Harrison of PA.
I feel that there is some validity to this as 2 of the daughters
named sons Carlisle. The known daughters are:
Mary Harrison brn ca 1813 Pa mar Martin Toner 11 Mar 1834 Shelby Co,
Ind later lived in Clark Co,IL
Lucretia Harrison b. ca 1814 PA mar George Whetzel 30 Dec 1835
Shelby Co, IN died ca 1852
Jane Harrison b 1825 PA mar George Updegraff 26 Jan 1843 Shelby Co,
IN, also lived in Clark Co, IL, mar 2nd J.R. Beals Vermillion Co, IN
1894, died 7 June 1901 Clark Co, IL
2 other Harrison females were also married in the same time period in
Shelby Co but have not been able to connect them: America Harrison
mar John Forsythe 26 June 1833
Hester Harrison mar Philip D. Barwick 12 Apr 1843.
Have much more information on the 3 sisters, would love to be able to
connect with other Harrison researchers and help solve the puzzles of
this family.
