My mother is now 83 years old. She was born in WEST MELBOURNE?
VICTORIA AUSTRALIA, approx 2nd NOVEMBER 1912.
I paid some-one to search for anything we could find of her family
or mother & they took my money & DID NOTHING!
She was "adopted" by ANNE ELIZABETH STEVENS nee HARRISON
& WILLIAM STEVENS, although absolutely no records exist of her birth
that I can find.
She believes that her natural mother tried to take her away in
approximately 1918 to South Africa, but her adopted mother would not
allow this. She thinks the natural mother's name was then something
similar to MRS VAN RAN, and anecdotal evidence suggests her maiden
name may have been MARY THERESE RYAN, although this is similar to
VAN RAN.
Her adopted family called her NANCY STAIR STEVENS
