In the Repository Records there is listed a Matthew Harrison, with dau
Elizabeth. I want to add the following from "Winchester, Va, and Its
Beginnings," by Greene, p126: " Obed Waite, b 14 Feb 1766 (Culpeper, Va) d
16 Jan 1845 (Winchester, Va). Judge Waite, Mayor of Winchester, m Mary Ann
Harrison, dau of Col Matthew Harrison, of Rev Army, and his wife, Mary
Wood, who was the second dau of Col James Wood and his wife, Mary
Rutherford. . ." On pps 354-355, same, in will of Mary Wood (grandmother)
it states: "...To my grandaus, Mary Ann, Elizabeth and Mary Harrison and
their heirs, .." dated 20 Sep 1790. In "The Story of 100 Old Homes in
Winchester, Va," by Garland R. Quarles, pgs 124 -125 the following is
found: ". . . Obed Waite, the owner at one time of both these properties,
was a lawyer and a prominent citizen of Winchester. . . He m Mary Ann
Harrison, dau of Mary Wood Harrison, and grandau of Col James Wood. . ."
Obed WAITE is an ancestor of mine and I have copy of deed of sale of
Waite-Hunter House, 3 March 1868, listing heirs of Obed and Mary Ann
Harrison Waite. Dau, Maria Waite Singleton, and her ch. Harrison Waite is
listed as executor of Obed Waite's will in 1845. I am seeking other
children of Obed Waite and MAH. Would appreciate any info you may have on
this family.
