Frances - how interesting as I have been looking at this family recently.
This Matthew is son of Burr III in the Repository though I don't think I
have the details of his wife. SLGT says he is son of Burr II (wrong number
but same fellow). I am interested in Obed WAITE and have noticed several
land records with H's floating around (can't put my hands on them at the
moment) but all very interesting with the SLGT H's, NC and TN.

"Col. James Wood, the founder of Winchester, died November 6, 1759, aged 52
years. His wife was Mary, the daughter of Capt Thomas Rutherford, a former
resident of Orange, and the first Sherriff of Frederick. Their chldren
were--- Elizabeth b. September 20, 1739, m. Hon. Alexander White; James, b.
January 28, 1741, d. at Onley, near Richmond, July 16, 1813, col. and Brig.
Gen in Revolution, Governor of Virginia, 1796-1799, m. circa. 1775, Jean
Moncure, 1753-1823, dau. of John, no children; Mary b. September 23, 1742,
m. Col. Matthew Harrison, as above, officer in Revolutionary Army; John b.
January 1, 1743-4, physician, m. Sussannah Baker; and Robert b. July 27,
1747, m. comfort Welch. Mary Dorcas a daughter of Robert, m. 1798, Lawrence
Augustine Washington, b. 1773, Stafford county, d. 1824, Wheeling, (West)
Virginia, son of col. Samuel, and grandson of Augustine Washington. The
wife of Col. Wood died about 1800. (see Cartmell, p. 290; Hayden, pp. 436
and 512)."
