I'm the Harrison whose people came from Germany>SC>FL. Now, I am trying to
locate my Louis (Lewis) Henry HARRISON in 1870. HE IS NOT THE LEWIS HENRY
HARRISON ON THE 1870 LAKE CITY, FL CENSUS.
If any of these Louis Harrisons belong to any of you folks, please e-mail
and identify yours. Possibly, by the process of elimination, I can narrow
down my search:
Montana - 1870 - Madison Co; Virginia City P.O., pg. 257
AL - Lowndes Co.; Lowndsboro P.O., p. 289
AL - Dallas Co.; Selma Pct., p. 705.
NC - Edgecombe Co., Lower Fishing Creek Twp., p. 061
LA - Orleans Par, New Orleans 12W, p. 620
LA - Livingston Par, Honey Point 1W, p. 006
LA - Lafayette Par, Vermillionville, p. 270
LA - Ascension Par, Donaldsonville 1W, p. 011
CA - San Francisco Co., 1 W San Fran., p. 21
These are all 1870 indexes.
Just in case anyone has the film and wants to look for my Louis, he was born
in 1853 in Charleston, SC.
Have no information about his parents (which is why I am so frustrated). He
died in 1919, is buried in Jax FL, but the State of FL has no death
certificate for him. So, sometime between 1853 and 1876 (when he came to
FL), he is invisible.
Considering his youth (@ 7 y.o.) when the Civil War broke out, and his age
12 or 13 when it ended, am I assuming his family kept moving around in the
South until things settled down again? Louis was 17 y.o. in 1870 and may
have been living outside the family home.
Without knowing his father's first name, I cannot search the indexes for
1860 or 1870.
All suggestions gratefully accepted.
