Abstracts of Obituaries in the "Western Christian Advocate" 1834-1850,
compiled by Margaret R. Waters, Dorothy Riker, and Doris Leistner, in
observance of the Bicentennial of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, Family
History Section, Indiana Historical Society, 1988
The Christian Advocate & Journal was a Methodist Newspaper, I guess... begun
in 1826 in NY City it sez... By 1831 each section of the US needed a similar
paper, so on May 2, 1834 the Western Christian Advocate was begun in
Cincinnati...
This book just covers the years 1834-50...
These ladies who compiled this thing went thru the volumes... there are some
missing issues in volumes IV, VI, XII, and some pages in voumes II and III
were unreadable because of bookworms... By 1988, they had found some of
these missing volumes and pages, etc... So, this is pretty complete, I guess...
It is obviously the latest edition... there may have been an incomplete one
published before... but whatever was in it, is in this one...
