HARRISON/TOLIVER & HARRISON/GAUGHAN

Greetings all ...

I'm brand-spanking new to this particular list, but one of the
old-guard of net.geneology. Perhaps a *very* brief intro is in order.
My names DAVE FURSTENAU and I work for the telecomminications center
at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Please, don't bring up
football, I could care less ;->  ).
The predominate surnames in my researches are: (Germanic)
FURSTENAU, SPATH,(Irish) GAUGHEN, CHAPMAN, LANGDON/LANGON, LAUGHFEY,
O'DONNELL, (British) INKERSALL/INGERSOLL, Hyandson, MENDENHALL, PENNELL,
Roberts, Strode, (Misc.) Hayes, Murphy, Orr, PARKER, WOLFORD, TOLIVER,
WILLIAMS, Williamson, & Wheeler.
I'm also tracking: a mondo massive list of PA Coal Irishmen
'round the Molly Maguire era; and the surnames BOLTE, HAIR/HARE,
HELGENBERGER & McCARTY on behalf of a 3rd cousin who's helped me with
many of my lines.

As for HARRISONs, I have (2) disntinct and separate lines which
marry into my pet names.

On the paternal side, the progenitor of my beloved GAUGHAN/GAUGHEN
line was:
          JOHN GAUGHAN [Sr.]
b: abt 1790 County Mayo, Ireland
          d: aft 1847 Centralia,ColumbiaCo,PA
m: abt 1820 County Mayo, Ireland
          MARY HARRISON/HARRISSON
b: abt 1804 County Mayo, Ireland
          d: aft 1847 Centralia,ColumbiaCo,PA

NOTE: Both are buried in undated graves at the St. Ignatius
Cemetery, where they were members of the Catholic church.
They had 15(!) children. At least 9 came over with them in
          1847 aboard The-Sea-Of-New-York (Liverpool>NYC). By 1877
(the height of anti-Irish sentiment in PA; The Molly trials,
the coal strikes, etc.) a couple of the sons broke away and
homesteaded in DodgeCo,NE. The others pretty much stayed
behind. (I *have* located a MARY HARRISSON in County Mayo
parish records, but can't decide if she's mine yet.)

Jumping over to the maternal side ...

          ALFRED TOLIVER
          b: 10 Jan 1812 Greenville,PittCo,NC
          d: 13 Aug 1869 Westpoint,TippicanoeCo,IN
          m: 03 Jan 1832 Canton,StarkCo,OH
          DRUCILLA A. HARRISON
          b: 01 Mar 1818 Canton,StarkCo,OH
          d: 15 Sep 1909 North Yakima,,WA

DRUCILLA was buried in Tacoma,PierceCo,WA. They had one
son, THOMAS A. TOLIVER (1844-1907) who married SARAH V.
PARKER (1850-1920). These begat a TOLIVER line that
flourished in Rock Port,AtchisonCo,MO and is part of my
line. Much of the above data is from SARAH's family
          notebook.

Just thought I'd toss that out to see if it rings any bells. I
have neglected these in favor of other lines, but am about to remedy
that, so I expect to dig up some stuff in the near future that will
hopefully add to the HARRISON repository.

     Sincerely,
          Dave Furstenau [email protected]
