<< Sandi, [the Rev. THomas piece] is well written and a good example for the
rest of us to follow.

Here are a couple of Harrison tidbits which your group might enjoy.

 1. William Harrison of Stepney, London, was Master of the Ship "Honor." He
brought Robert Taliaferro and Robert Lee to Virginia. Master Harrison's ship
landed in late October or early November 1746 at Yorktown. Robert Taliaferro
was the father of a large Virginia family. Robert Lee may be the ancestor of
the Maryland Lee family. His brother, Richard Lee, is the immigrant ancestor
of the well known Virginia Lee family. All three settled as neighbors in
Gloucester County on or near the Piankatanck River, a tributary of the York.

Because of the timing, the haste with which Robert Taliaferro left London,
and Richard Lee's 'invitation' to King Charles to come to Virginia, it must
be assumed that all three came to Virginia as haven from the Cromwellians.

In this same mailing - so we haven't really 'chawed' it over yet, I asked if
1746 was a typo, since I believe Richard was here a century earlier. I'm
passing it anyway, 'cause it's interesting.

 2. Attached to the vestry book of Dettingen Parish (Prince William County,
VA) is an early Harrison genealogy:

"Burr Harrison, of Chappawamsic, born in England, son of Cuthbert Harrison,
baptized in the parish of St. Margaret's, Westminster, 28th December, 1637.
His son Thomas born in 1665; grandson Burr born May 21, 1699; great grandson
Thomas born 3d of March 1723; his sister Jane the 9th of December, 1726; his
sister Seth the 30th of November 1729."

The writer could have been Burr Harrison, an early clerk of the Dettingen
Parish vestry, or the Rev. Thomas Harrison, who was Rector of Dettingen
Parish around 1800. It is reported by Bishop Meade in "Old Chruches,
Ministers, and Families in Virginia," that Thomas Harrison had nine sons. He
reports that the above genealogy of the Harrison family was taken from the
parish record of St. Margaret's, Westminster, and certified by Richard
Gibson, London.

How much easier our lives would be if all of our early ancestors had been so
considerate.

I have more information on both points and will be happy to answer
questions.

Also, as I look at Joyce's signature, I realized that I introduced her as
Joyce BROWN not BROWNING as I should have done. I jumped to conclusions from
the screen name and a too-quick glance at previous correspondence. My
apologies. :-]

Well, the clock being turned back has made me make a few false starts for the
kitchen, but now, as the walrus hath said, The time is come.
