Re: TALLIAFERRO

Thanks, Chris, for your note and your welcome.

You ask: Curious, I am...aren't there famous Taliaferro kin here in
Minnesota? I remember running across their papers at MN Historical Society.
Want me to check? I missed where you are located.
******
My Taliaferro research was confined to my backyard which happens to be VA and
NC, so I never got as far as Minnisota.

I may be doing an email newsletter for Taliaferro descendants as a spinoff
from another group, so YEAH! YEAH! YEAH! it would be fabulous to have
whatever something on Minnisota Taliaferros..

As for my background. I was born near Winston Salem NC and grew up in
Raleigh. About 15 years ago, I was offered a nice opportunity which brought
me here to VA. I retired a year ago from CalTech/JPL where I worked first
with the team writing the requirements and definitions for America's Space
Station (now the International Space Station Program). I was transferred to
the DC office to coordinate administrative services of their Washington
Business Office, and for NASA's Visiting Senior Scientist Program.
University scientists recruited by NASA were hired under a CalTech contract
for 2-years of experience working in NASA programs. Then they returned to
their home universities, supposedly in possession of terrific new networking
and unique experience which enhanced their effectiveness. Was a great job and
a great life experience.

I began family history research 17 or 18 years ago, became a speaker and
contributor to conferences and publications specializing in the VA's
Rappahannock River heritage. Career and family obligations forced total
cessation for 10 years, and I only recently picked up where I left off -
except now I'm concentrating on all those unheralded Mommys in our family.

The Harrison line is my husband's. His ggg grandmother was Lucy Harrison of
Southampton VA who married William Davis of Northampton Co NC on 16 October
1797. Part of their land lay in Greensville Co VA. I haven't been able to
clearly attach Lucy to her Harrison family yet; but know that she had
brothers named Richard and Henry.

I'm looking forward to this experience. Already I've had good contacts and
appreciate Sandi pasting me in.
