Fwd: Cunningham/Turner/Carter/harrison

Hi guys -- This is a little long, but nice. She's not actively looking for
HARRISON, but I think it's only a matter of time. Do any of you have TURNER
or CUNNINGHAM?

It's pouring (for a change) and cold here. I can't believe the OJ thing.
Never mind the technicalities, how are you logically guilty of wrongful
death if not guilty of murder?

Oh well. Old news I guess.

Hi Sandi,

I have found a whole lot of satisfaction with most all of the Genweb
pages, I think that the whole internet scene is the greatest thing
since sliced bread. and getting better every day. In fact I have
trouble staying away from it, I work at home and sometimes I loose
and my conscience wins and I spend too much time on internet and then
have to work on the business stuff when most people are enjoying their
free time. The only thing I can say is thank goodness my free
internet time is only weekends and from 2 AM until 10 AM, and i have
to budget my 2 hours a day.

Thank you so much for replying to my query, it is the 2nd one I have
gotten and the other was for another branch of my tree, she knew less
than I did and I was able to help her, She is such a nice person I
think that we were supposed to find each other for some reason and I
have had so much fun helping her, I have at least 4 and maybe 6
messages out there so it was very very exciting to get your message.
Please tell me more!! I went to the Library in Huntington Beach, CA
yesterday and plan to go to Los Angeles Main Library late Wednesday
afternoon. Where do you live?

I don't know much of anything about the Turners, except from the time
James P. married Elizabeth Cunningham, my mom had gotten incorrect
information from her Grandfather, Charles Edward Turner, She thought
that he, Charles Edward, was born in North Carolina, and they had sold
the "plantation" when he was small and freed the slaves and came north
before the Civil War. and his Mammy came with him and he was raised
by her. Well, she had a hearing problem and she may have heard wrong,
The first thing I had on James P is his marriage, and the 1860 Census
without mention of a wife, then I found that they had at least 5
children at least three of which lived, I found one daughter born
about 1851 and she is buried with her in the same grave,( Elizabeth's
grandmother Cunningham.) Elizabeth died in 2/22-23/1857 following the
birth of her last child, a boy I think. Her sister, Sarah Cunningham,
married James P. 6 weeks later and in 1859 she died giving birth to a
daughter, Elizabeth. I don't know who raised Elizabeth, probably her
Grandmother Cunningham. Harrison, Margaret and Charles lived with him
in Grant Co., City of Marion, IN. at the time of the 1860 Census
The NEW LDS ANCESTRIAL FILE CD's are at the LDS family history centers
and some one has submitted a James Turner b about 1817,(he was 43 in
the 1860 census) and married to a Nancy Louisa Newby. I think he may
have been married to a Malinda Newby before he married Nancy Louisa.
In the Quaker records I found it mentions that he mcd in before 1870
and I figure that is when he married Nancy, probably before her sister
had been dead a year. Also, last week I found a Quaker record from
Back Creek MM in IN, dated 1865, where he requested to be allowed to
come back to the Quakers, that he had been dis from Cane Creek, NC MM
about 40 years ago, (I didn't know that he had ever been a Quaker.)
but at least that is the first time I have had even a hint of what
area of NC he was from Cane Creek is in Orange, Co. but I think that
this is also the Perq. Co. area. Several years ago I had found lots of
Turners in that area, but I didn't know if he was theirs. I don't
know what his fathers name is but I kinda think it was probably on of
three, William, Edward or Charles. My gr-grandfather Charles Edward
had to sons that lived, named Daniel Harrison, Daniel was my
Gr-grandmothers father, and James Edward. they had twin daughters,
Hazel M. and Ethel, their first born were twin boys that didn't live.
I don't know if they were named or where buried. I did see a few
weeks ago where there were Turner girls in OH, by the names of Hazel
and Ethel. I figure they may be related to James P.

I also have a gr-gr aunt Mercy Anne King, She married a Samuel Painter
in 1848 and her daughter married a David Henley or Henly in Henry Co.
IN and a Nancy Newby married a Henly can't remember which one
but.......... I did see the name Newby with the Carters I think.

Yesterday, at the library I search NC, and did find a mention of
Carters and copied the page. haven't really digested it yet but I
wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your contacting me.

Please keep in touch and I would really be grateful for anything you
can help me with.
