The first place I go to determine county is GNIS http://www-nmd.usgs.gov/www/gnis/gnisform.html ... hosted by our wonderful government which will also provide a map of the area with rivers and streams etc. Changing your query to something like Randolph may also reveal original post offices, landmarks and historic places as well.
