A short time ago, a message was posted here asking when Crawford led
his fateful expedition.
Here is some information I gathered a few years ago on this subject.
Colonel William Crawford was tortured to death while on an expedition
in 1782-1783. With him was his son-in-law William Harrison. William
was the husband of Sarah Crawford and the son of Lawrence Harrison.
My sources for this information were:
Sipe, Chester Hale. "Fort Ligonier and its time: a history of the
first English..." p. 559. Telegraph Press, 1932.
Veech, James. "The Monongahela of old, or, Historical sketches of
south-western Pennsylvania to the year 1800" pp. 118-125. published in
Pittsburgh.
I seem to remember reading in one of the two sources that William and
Sarah had no issue.
NOTE: other Harrisons mentioned in Veech were Benjamin, Battle,
James, John, Robert, and Richard.
