To those of you that I have frequently corresponded with, I am sharing my
sadness.
My mother, Marjorie Valentine (SIMS) HARRISON, has passed away. Mom was
born 14-Feb-1910 on a farm in Coles Co, IL near where the present Fox
Ridge State Park is located. Except for a few years when the family lived
in the west, she has been a resident of Coles Co, particularly
Charleston. She was the sixth child of Silas Albert SIMS and Notie Cleo
WILLIAMS, with 5 older sisters, 2 younger sisters, and 2 younger
brothers. Two sisters and 2 brothers survive her.
My mother and father, Claude Alfred HARRISON, were married in Vandalia,
Fayette Co, IL on 12-Mar-1927. Dad passed away on 10-Sep-1980, and now
mom has gone to join him at last. After only a brief illness (that we
were aware of), she died of heart failure early this morning, with my
brother at her side in the hospital. Services will be held on Tuesday at
the Harper Swickard Funeral Home in Charleston and interment will be at
Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, near Mattoon, IL
