membership - wanna help?

Hi everyone,
Hopefully we are all back online. I received a listowners message and
would like you all to consider if you have some spare change to help
support our gracious hosts RootsWeb.

There are three categories of services details of which can be found at:
https://sites.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html

Nonmember (free)
Web searches of all databases (possibly with automated,
hopefully-guilt-inducing nags that you really should join (-8 ).
Mailing lists in digest and index mode, and mail mode for small lists
(possibly with nags).
Archive file retrieval by FTP and mail (possibly with nags).

Member ($12 per year)
A warm fuzzy from knowing you're roughly covering RootsWeb's costs in
serving you (plus no annoying nags! (-8 ).
All mailing lists available in digest, index, and mail mode.
     Archive text searches.
Sponsor ($24 per year) - lots of other stuff - see web page

Right now, the only way to join RootsWeb is by sending a check in American
dollars to:

     RootsWeb Genealogical Data Cooperative
     P.O. Box 6798
     Frazier Park, CA 93222-6798

Please make sure your name and e-mail address are on the check!

Also, please don't send currency, and please don't send drafts denominated
in foreign currency. (American banks charge *huge* fees for currency
conversions.) If you are outside the United States, please wait until we
can process credit cards -- we should have that ready in a month or two.
--------

These systems do cost money - and while we have the luxury of free as
non-members - know that someone is really paying. We are paving the way to
the future of genealogy in 21st century. Personally I think the membership
fee is cheap considering what we pay for a surname newsletter plus has a
lot more services at your fingertips. So just think about it - and if you
can't afford it, that's okay too.
Thanks
becky
