After a recent posting about Shadrack Harrison showing on the 1856
Iowa census, I looked at the 1850 Federal Census of Iowa. Here are
some of the Harrison's which may relate to Shadrack. I think this
Shadrack is a brother to Bazel and Joseph and a son of William H.
Harrison and Worlenda Davis (2). The birth time and place seem to
fit.
NOTE: The censustaker's handwriting is terrible. I've put a
question mark before any information which was difficult to make out.

it is the best I can make it out.)

p.54 (the index of the census says there is a Levi Harrison also in
Penn Twp, but I ran out of time and didn't yet get his information.)
1850 Fed census, Iowa, Lee Co, Monte Rose Twp
p. 39
Edith Davis, 55, F, Va
Eli , 20, M, Farmer, Oh
Mahlon , 15, M, Oh
Elisha Harrison, 9, M, Ia
Lorenzo B. , 7, M, Ia
?Areine J. , 4, F, Ia
Edith Davis , 17, F, Oh
NOTE: There were no dittos to indicate surnames. My assumption
would be that Eli and Mahlon are both Davises; Elisha, Lorenzo B.,
and ?Areine J. are all Harrison's; and Edith is probably a sister to
Eli and Mahlon. The other possibility is that Elisha's middle name
is Harrison and his surname is Davis.
The Davis/Harrison connection is very interesting! Back in Md and
Virginia we have many connections between the families, but we had
assumed that the connection ended when the family left Va for
Pa.
PLEASE comment. I'm not very sure how to interpret what I've found.
Can anyone verify any of this?
There are more Harrisons in the index to the census for counties
other than Jefferson and Lee. If time permits I'll look and pass the
information on.
