HARRISON-HOOD-RAGAN, Greene Co, TN

The following message is from another researcher. Please send replies
directly to her:

I am a descendant of Abigail RAGAN. She married Nathaniel HOOD on 14 Feb
1795 in Greene Co. TN. They lived in Greeneville, Greene Co. TN until
about
1808. Then they moved to the Maryville area of Blount Co. TN.

I have seen conflicting accounts of Abigail's parentage. Some say her
father
was Darby RAGAN (1748-1814). Some say her father was Jeremiah RAGAN
(1742-1831),
who was Darby's older brother. Darby married a woman whose last name was
WRIGHT
(first name possibly Leah) and Jeremiah married Abigail HARRISON. These
men
moved to TN from Rockingham Co. VA. Family lore says that Nathaniel and
Abigail
both came from that area of VA, so I feel we are on the right track. But I
still
need more info.

According to land records, tombstones, and an interview with one of their
daughters (conducted about 1895), they had the following children:

1.Elizabeth b 27Jan 1796 m Edward Hart
2.John b 1799 m 1/ Sarah Haun m 2/ Susan Barnett
3.Margaret b 1802, m Jeremiah Hays
4.Rev. Nathaniel b 17 Feb 1804 m 1/ Isabella Edgar m 2/ Nancy C. Newman
5.Isabella G. b 16 May 1806 m James Denny Swan
6.Abigail b Feb 1809 m Robert Conn (VRs say in 1821, sister says 1834)
7.female b 1800 - 1810 (alive in 1830, was on census; or was this Abigail?)
8.Daniel Reagan b 19 Feb 1811 m Margaret Jane L. Swan, moved to Cherokee
Co. AL
9.Annis b 24 Jan 1814, m John Greer
10.Joseph Hart b 1816 d 1824
11.Francis Marion b 18 Jun 1818, m Eliza A. McTeer

Abigail was not listed on the 1830 Blount Co. TN federal census, so I
assume
that she died by then. Does anyone know when and where she died?
Nathaniel
died in Mar 1840. His daughter said he was about 75 when he died, which
would mean he was born about 1765. This coincides with a family story that
Nathaniel served in the Rev War as a youth of 16, fighting in the Battle of
Cowpens and at Yorktown (both in 1781). But I haven't been able to find
anything definite about his birthdate, and a request of Nathaniel's service
records came up empty. And this differs from the age he gave on
the 1830 Blount Co. federal census, which would have made his birthdate
between 1770 and 1780, but this type of error was common on census records.
All I know for sure is that his parents were Robert and Elizabeth HOOD.

I'd love to correspond with others searching this line.
