Research:
The History of Johnson Co. MO 1918, listed father of Joseph as John
Harrison.
John Harrison received NC Grant 12 July 1793 for 121 acres in
Hawkins Co., adj to James Lynn Wood, Francis Doherty, River, Cliff
of Rocks. and no record of the disposal of the land which has been
in Hancock Co. TN since 1848.
This land was located across the river from his other land,
purchased 22 Jun 1798, from Stockley Donelson of Knox Co. TN, 70a
on the North side of Holston River, including the place whereon
John now lives and Kearnes' Spring. In 1799 Robert Kyle sold to
John 200 a adjoining the 70a on the east side of the main road. In
1803 John sold 290 acres being part of the land he bought of
Hutchings, Donelson and Kyle. Thomas Hutchings married Stockley
Donelson's sister. Mrs. Hutchings and Donelson were sister and
brother to Mrs. Andrew Jackson.
He is not on a Poll List of 1790 in Hawkins Co., but a John
Harrison was a Deputy Sheriff in 1797.
A John purchased various tracts from 1798 to 1803, and he made 9
deeds from 1804-1808 in an official capacity as Collector of the
Direct Tax for the No. Three Collection District in the State of
TN, authorized and appointed by the Supervisor of the Revenue of
the United States. These deeds were all made for land sold for
taxes on 15 Dec 1801 to Joseph Rogers, Alexander Nelson, William
Hord, William Cocke,Isham Mills, and John Claton.
The census records for 1790, 1800, 1810, 1820 are lost for all of
E. TN. The only one is 1830 and no Harrisons are in Hawkins Co.
There are no Harrisons on the 1801 Tax List of Blount Co., and none
on the Knox Co Tax List for 1806.
23 July 1825: Isham Gideons of Hawkins Co. TN to Joseph H. for
$100, 61 acres on the north side of Clinch Mtn on the waters of War
Creek, part of the tract that Jesse Epperson sold to Francis
Antrikin, adjoining land that james Gideons now lives on; Moses
mcGinnis, Simon Mills, James Gideons, witnesses.
Joseph H. witnessed a deed from James Gideons to his son Isham
Gideons the previous day 22 Jul 1825, so there may be a
relationship involved. The will of James Gideons 20 Aug 1833 names
wife Martha, sons Edward, William, James, Isham, and John; dau
Elizabeth Davis and Sary Reed.

Spouse Notes:
234 Joe Craig, 412 So. Barnwell St., Oceanside CA 92054,
researched the Craigs for about 10 years. They were not
absolutely positive of any daughters of John Craig. From the
evidence of the Blount Co. TN connection with Gideon Harrison, the
fact that John Craig and Gideon H. were both in the battle of
Kings Mtn both were in Washington Co. VA/TN, and Judge Harvey
Harrison's letter of 1889, I am assuming at this time that Nancy is
this John Craigs daughter.45
Nancy Craig was killed by lightening on their farm in MO.
