Notes:
Harvey Harrison included a letter with the pension application of
his father stating he was 7 or 8 years old when his father left his
home in AL to join Capt. John W. Grays Co. of regular volunteers
having previously served in Capt. Carr's Co. of rangers some six or
eight months which was never legally recognized.
Harvey wrote a letter in 1889,and stated that his Harrisons were
English & Dutch. From Rockingham Co. VA, old Capt. Daniel H.
father of Michael, Jesse, Gideon, John, and James. His
grandmothers were White and Glass.
They were Teetolers: in Temperance movement for years. Son James
K. P may have had drinking problem, he moved to KS.

The History of Johnson Co. MO, 1928 gave John Harrison, no data, as
father of Joseph and said that Harvey Harrison is a second cousin
to Pres. William Henry Harrison. 435
442 Hazel Hill settlement was made about 1830. Judge Harvey
Harrison came here March 21, 1831, and settled on the head of
Walnut Creek. The place is now owned by Mr. Powers; the old brick
building is still standing and was the second in the county.
N. Houx, of Columbus settlement put up the first.
Judge Harvey Harrison was born Mar 7 1806 in Blount Co. East TN.
His parents Joseph and Nancy Harrison, removed to Huntsville, AL,
when Harvey was 6 month old.
Judge Harrison was one of the leading men of his neighborhood. He
was born March 7, 1806 in TN of Dutch-Irish ancestry. he emigrated
to Alabama, near Huntsville, before the town was laid out. There
he married Zilpha Bell, of Irish-Scotch extraction, Nov 28, 1824,
and came to MO.
He was justice of the peace in his settlement twelve years, and
served four years as county judge.
Among the old settlers worthy of notice was Joseph Harrison, Joel
Walker, Wm & Geo McMahan, etc.
The Harrison cemetery is in Section 21, on the Warrensburg and
Fayetteville road and has been a burying place for many years.
Thomas B. Harrison was the first one buried here about 1844. The
land is owned by J. W. Stayer of Kansas City.
