Linda:
I would like to encourage you keep your database available online. I do
think your notice that not all information has been verified is also a
good idea.
While I have found differences both in names and dates from sources on the
web, I have also found many name and date differences in almost any source
I have researched both official goverment records and written family
records. I feel it is up to each of us to try to verify any records that
we find on our ancestoral lines whatever that source might be. If
everyone waited until they felt that their records were perfect, there
would be very little information to share.
I also agree that you too would possibly lose a valuable source of
information for yourself, if you decide to not post your data online. I
have made many new contacts and both shared and received lots of
information this way. I do have a couple of conflicts that I have not yet
cleared up to my satisfaction, but I might not have even known about
possible conflicts or had the opportunity to verify information or rectify
errors otherwise.
I understand your concern of possibly providing incorrect information
because it is not verified and admire you for caring. I still hope you
will decide to put your data back online.
Good luck, whatever your decision may be!
Mary Jane
