REV. NATHAN THOMAS HARRISON. b. 10-20-1778 in NC or VA. After he married, went to Buncombe, about 1799-1800, at age 22, licensed to preach 1810 at age 32. Married Sarah Ogelsby and later Nancy (Bailey?). Died 18 July 1852. Children: John Valentine married Jane Bell; Rev. Samuel Robert married Minerva Bell, Jeremiah married 1. Loucinda Lee, and 2. ______ England; Abraham Pickens married Sarah Waters; Sarah married Dr. Tarver; Nathan married Jane ________; Cecil; Thomas (blind) married Ann (Lord?); Mary married Henson Gossage; Margaret married Edward F. Farrington; Rachel married James Madison Ellis; Possibly Lydia married Rev. Joab Humphries; William C. (Rev.?)
REV. JEREMIAH HARRISON. b. Rutherford c 1785. Joined church 1799-1800 married Sarah Addington, daughter of Moses Addington.
Rev. Samuel R. Harrison b Rockingham 10-3-1782. Converted 1803 (same as Nathan) in SC Conference. Died 1834 in KY. Married Ann Rogers of Roanoke County, Virginia. Moved to KY 1819. At Harrison Methodist Mecklenburg, son of Josiah, who also had a son Jeremiah.
THOMAS HARRISON, JR. called Rev. married Margaret Gilbreath. Children: Margaret Olive; Thomas; William M.; Elizabeth. Born in York, SC 1779. His father moved to Rutherford then Georgia, then Buncombe. Thomas married to IL 1804. (father Thomas in Buncombe longer than that), James Gilbreath, also on 1800 census in Buncombe, built first cotton gin. Partner with Thomas.

JOHN HARRISON Married ____Davis 1st, 2nd, married Margaret ____? born GA 1774. Married probably in Rutherford, so in 1800 Fed. census he was 26. His wife was younger and 2 boys were under 10. Died 1854. Had a daughter Mary, who married _______? Fisher, b NC, 1807.
REV. JOHN GRANTHAM had father and brother William both Methodist Ministers. William considerably younger than his brother. Mother named Rhoda. A child said his two grandmothers were Rhoda and Eleanor. Rev. William born 1806 in Georgia, died 1868, in Marshall County, Alabama. Rev. John was born 1773 in Cobb County, Georgia. Married 1795 in Buncombe to Elizabeth Harrison, born in 1776, 11 Jan. in Buncombe, daughter of Thomas Harrison. Children in order: Isaiah, James, Thomas L., ( the 1st three were born in Buncombe), Lydia born 1803, in Christian County, Kentucky, that part is now Henderson; Ezekiel, Ann, William J., Elizabeth; John Posey; Mary(Polly); John Malachi; Martha, born 1820 to IL. She married _______? Osborn; Harrison D.
ELIZABETH HARRISON may have had a sister named HANNAH born 27 July 1784, in NC. Married Noah P. Kelley.
Noah P. Kelley was born 1781 in SC, moved to Montgomery County, IL. (same as Rev. John Grantham) and had a daughter named Elizabeth and sons named John and Thomas. Thomas Kelley is on 1800 Buncombe Census.
JOHN FAMILY. Ezekiel John married Lydia (Harrison?). David John Mountain Cr., Anson County, 1740. In 1758 petition to Georgia for land, but he turned it down. Lived in Georgia 4 months before he made petition. 1763 David John, Blacksmith in Parish of St. George, Georgia (just downstream from Augusta, Georgia on the Savannah River), sold his Mountain Cr. property in then Mecklenburg NC, 1764 another petition to Georgia with his wife and 4 children. Granted 1765, but he had died and his wife Mary (Moore) called More John, with her 4 children got it. She also got a grant in Mecklenburg, at McAlpin’s Creek in 1764 (where the Harrisons lived). In 1765 a petition for land in Georgia, granted in 1767. Her will dated 1777, in Mecklenburg, NC. Her son Zephaniah was the father of Ezekiel born 1760-70 (Zephaniah). In 1777 Zephaniah in Mecklenburg, but in 1786, he was in GATES COUNTY, GEORGIA, as Ezekiel. Granted to Zephaniah in Hancock, but it is thought that in 1796-97, Ezekiel returned home to NC, to marry a girl back home-----Lydia (Harrison) of Buncombe or Mecklenburg County). Children: Thomas 1793, Samuel 1801, Robert 1805, William A 1806, Ezekiel Jr. 1808, Eleanor 1812, Jonathan 1815, Mary H. 1819, Lydia 1824. Ezekiel and Lydia are NOT on the 1800 Fed. Census of Buncombe, but bought property on Turkey Creek in 1801. Deed pr. by ROBERT HARRISON 2 years later, who had been a witness in 1801. More property on Sandy Mush, where they lived adjacent to NATHAN HARRISON. LYDIA was born in SC in 1772.
ROBARDS/ROBERTS FAMILY. Mr. Harrison married the daughter of immigrant: Lydia Roberts in Virginia. They had a daughter Martha Harrison who went to NC. Martha married Jesse Robard/Roberts. He was the first teacher in Buncombe. Children: David, Violet, Matilda, Terry, Mary Ann, Lydia. This daughter Lydia left NC with her sister and their husbands to Georgia. Lydia married Ranson Ruley Hall, who was from the Rutherford area. But the origin of this family was AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGINIA. Mary Roberts moved to Montgomery County, IL. as did a number of Roberts. Blacks there too and married into the Sights/Grantham line there.*see below.
NATHANIEL HARRISON (of Betty Jo Hulse line) married Sarah Carrell, daughter of Dennis Carrell of Buncombe. To Claiborn County, Tennessee. Then to Shelby County, Alabama by 1817. Dennis Carrell was on the Fed. Census of 1810 in Buncombe as over the age of 45; also William, John, Nancy Carrell households. Dennis Carrell was born Wake County, NC. c 1766.
Nathaniel was born c 1794 and probably the son of Thomas of Rutherford County. (Buncombe 1800?) Apparently a Thomas in Rutherford in 1800 also, but in 1810 in Buncombe. Children: Benjamin; Elizabeth; Dennis Carrell Harrison. He remarried Elizabeth Crowson and had more children: Joel; Thomas; William; Nancy; Sarah; Altna; and Mary.
Also, perhaps siblings of Nathaniel in Shelby County, Alabama,: Benjamin; Elizabeth who was daughter of Thomas Harrison and Elizabeth (NOT Eleanor of the 1800 Census of Buncombe) Not known when or where Nathaniel died. The last record was a 1840 Census of Shelby County, Alabama.
* More on the Roberts/Robards. John Roberts was in Montgomery County, Virginia, born 1750. A Troy and moved to Buncombe by 1797 at Walnut Creek, (Walnut Town, in Madison County.) Thomas C. Roberts came from Georgia early in the 1800’s to Turkey Creek then moved back to Georgia.
KIRKPATRICK/KILPATRICK. Joseph Kirkpatrick was between 26-45 in 1800. He married Martha Harrison who was between 16-26. He came probably from Meckleburg and lived at Fines Creek, in Haywood County, c 1790. Married in Rutherford County, in 1798. Betty Jo suspects Martha was born in 1775 and was sister to Joseph Harrison who married Margaret Hill. In 1808 in Buncombe County, Joseph Kirkpatrick and wife vs Thomas Harrison. They are buried at Mount Zion Methodist Church. (This was the church that Rev. Jeremiah Harrison was one of the founders of in present Macon County.)
Thomas Harrison married Nancy Pack. Evidently not the right one but in Rutherford county in 1786-1794. Then to Kentucky. Had a Revolutionary pension record. Much information on him, his wanderings and his children. A DAR patriot. They have him involved with the Crowsons, but that is an error.
Thomas Harrison died in 1819 in Spartanburg, SC. He married Gemime. Sons Thomas; Balus; William; and Martin. Daughters were Anny Bermer; Sarey Miller; Nancy Phillips; Rebecca James. Will signed by Joseph Carrell on the Suck Creek. Goes by the name sometimes of Harris, sometimes Harrison.
In 1775 Nathaniel signed neutrality oath (Quaker?) as did Daniel Ponder, 3 Blacks, and 2 Wilsons.
In 1774 Nathaniel was a witness to the will of Robert Patterson along with Daniel Ponder. (Pattersons were close relatives of Old Jeremiah Harrison’s wife Catherine Adams).
Nathaniel 1783 on confiscation list as were the Blacks and Daniel Ponder, but evidently not confiscated, or restored, since Joseph inherited it.
DAVIS HARRISON married _____Hood of Mecklenburg, then moved to Georgia, Greene County, then to Woodford County, Kentucky, then to Christian County, Kentucky.
