Some Harrison Revolutionary War Soldiers

CONNECTICUT
Aaron Harrison (1726-1816) married 1748 Jersuha Warner (1727-1819). He served on the Committee of Inspection and was an active patriot during the Revolution. He was born in East Haven; died in Wolcott, CT.
Peter Harrison (1730-1829) took the oath of Fidelity prescribed by the State of Connecticut. He was born and died in Branford, CT.
Butler Harrison (1757-1829), he was a seaman on the ship "Oliver Cromwell". He was born and died in North Brandford, CT. He married 1781-82 Mercy Linsley (1756-1833).
Noah Harrison (1737-1823) married 1767 Hannah Rogers (1737-85). He served as a private, 1777, in Captain Griswald's Co., Col. Enos' 3rd Battalion. He was born in Branford; died in Cornwall, CT.
Elihu Harrison (1740-1806) married 1764 Theda Woodruff (1742-1815). He was a Sgt. in Capt. Barnes' Co., Col. Hockers Reg. 1777, which marched on the Danbury Alarm. He was born and died in Litchfield, CT.

Thomas Harrison (1630-1704) of Branford, CT was an Ensign in King Philip's War and deputy to the General Court, May 1677. He was born in England. He had a son Nathaniel (b. 1658) who married Hannah Frisby (1669-1723). Butler Harrison (above) was a descendant of Thomas and Nathaniel, son of Thomas.
GEORGIA
- Edward Harrison married as his third wife, 1818, Susan Gideon (1810-85). He served as a private in the Georgia troops and received land for his service. He was born in England and died 1833 in Hall Co., Georgia.
KENTUCKY
John Harrison (1751-1819) married Sally Speed. He served as a Lt. In the Virginia line and received a land grant in Kentucky for his military service. He was born in Virginia, died in Nelson Co., KY.
John Harrison (1754-1821) married 1787 Mary Anne Johnston. He was Ensign, 1776, 13th Virginia Regiment; promoted to Lt. 1777; and served until the close of the war in the 7th Regiment. He was born in Westmoreland Co., VA; died in Louisville, KY.

MARYLAND
Benjamin Harrison (b. 1739-40) Talbot Co., MD; died at St. Michaels, Talbot Co., MD on 19 November, 1809. He married Esther Hunt before 1773. She was born in Talbot Co., MD 1740-56 and died there 1810. He was a soldier, 1st class, 38th Battalion, Broad Creed Co. and fifer in Continental Army; and member of Safety Committee, Talbot Co., MD.
Thomas Harrison married Eleanor Hargrove. He served as a private and Sgt. In the 6th Independent Co., Dorchester Co., MD. He was born in England and died 1808 in Baltimore, MD.
Robert Hanson Harrison (1745-90) married _____ Johnson. He succeeded Joseph Read as secretary to George Washington in 1776, and remained in the Military family of the Commander in Chief until he was appointed Chief Justice in 1781.
MASSACHUSETTS
MICHIGAN
- Joseph Harrison (1750)-1803) married Sarah Giles. He came from England at the age of eighteen, and enlisted in the Revolutionary Army. He was born in England; died in Detroit, MI. Sarah was born 1770 in Sandwich, Ontario, Canada and died in Detroit in 1841. Joseph and Sarah were married in MA, 1790.
NORTH CAROLINA
Benjamin Harrison, Jr. born 25 October, 1755; died in Laurens Co., GA on 14 August, 1811. He married as his first wife, Celia Lawhorn, and as his second wife Charity Williams in Edgecombe Co., NC on 8 June, 1785. She was born 14 February, 1764 and died at Georgetown, GA on 13 July, 1854. He was a Capt. In Infantry, Edgecombe (Dobbs) Co., NC.
George Harrison (1756-1849) married 1787 Dorcas Wood. He served as a private in Capt. Reeds' Co., Col. Thomas Clarks' 1st Battalion, MC troops. He was born in Maryland; died in Granville Co., NC.
James Harrison, born about 1740 and died about 1807, married Winnie Reddin. He was a Revolutionary soldier from North Carolina and received a pension.
- John Footman Harrison, died about 1791, married unknown. He was a soldier from NC.

NORTH CAROLINA - cont.
Joseph Harrison, born 18 May, 1765, died 16 August, 1839. He married Mary Ann Gregory. He was a North Carolina Private.
Richard Harrison, born 1764, died 6 May, 1838; married Rachel Darsey (Dorsey). He was NC private.
- William Harrison, born about 1730 and died 1814, married Anne Vaughn. Patriotic service in Virginia.
NEW JERSEY
Amos Harrison (1712-1785) married Hannah Johnson (1717-1794). He was a minute man from Essex when NJ was the battlefield. He was born and died in Orange, NJ.
Isaac Harrison (1739-17860); married Martha Smith. (He was son of Amos and Hannah Harrison, above.) He served as a private in Capt. Thomas Williams' 8th Co., 2nd Regi-ment, Essex Co. Militia, under Col. Philip Van Cortland. Isaac was born Orange, NJ.
Isaac Harrison (1757-1823) married 1782 Mary Kingsland (1762-1840). He received a pension 1818, for service as a private in the NJ Continental Line under Capt. Samuel Potter and Col. Elias Dayton. He died in Bloomfield, NJ.
Daniel Harrison (1753-1829) married _____ Munn. He served as a private, 1776, in Capt. Rogers' Co. and as a Cpl. 1778 in Capt. Josiah Piersons' militia. He was born and died in Orange, NJ.
Samuel Harrison married Mary Preston. He served 1780-82 as a private in the 3rd Co., 3rd Regiment, Maryland Militia. He was born Essex Co. and in 1730 was living in Glouchester Co., NJ. He died in service in 1782.
Joseph Harrison 3rd. (1747-1837) married second, 1792 Phebe Thompkins (1759-1807). He served as an Ensign 1780 in the NJ State troops, engaged in the battle of Springfield, NJ. He was born in Orange; died in Livingston, NJ.
Abijah Harrison (1751-1846) married 1773 Sarah Ogden (1756-1821). He served as a private in the Essex Co., NJ Militia. He was born and died in Orange, NJ.
- William Harrison, Jr. (1720-1787) married second 1769 Martha Bawlby. He was commissioned Captain in the Gloushester Co. Militia. At his own expense, he equipped his company and took as drummers his two sons, who died from exposure.

VERMONT
- Samuel Harrison (1756-1813) married 1780, Rebekah Keeler (1756-1832). He served in The Canadian Campaign and was in the battle of Bennington. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant in his 3 years service. He was born in England; died in Chittenden, VT.
NEW YORK
- Robert Harrison (1759-1844) married 1764 Leah Avery (1749-1809). He received a pension for service as a private in the Rhode Island troops under Col.'s Angell, Green, and Olney. He was born in Suffolk, England; died in Urbana, NY.
PENNSYLVANIA
- James Harrison (1740-1804), married Jane Carlyle. He served as a private in Capt. James Gardeners Co., PA Militia. He was born in Northern Ireland; died in Sunbury, PA.
SOUTH CAROLINA
- Reuben Henry Harrison married 1782 Sarah Burgess (1765-1831). He served as a private in Capt. Thomas Taylors' Regiment, Hendersons' Brigade, South Carolina Militia, 1781. He was born in SC; died in Fairfield District, SC.
- James Harrison (1748-1815) married Elizabeth Hampton (1758-1799) in 1774. He served as a private in the South Carolina troops when the Carolinas were overrun by the enemy. He was born in VA, died in SC. His brother, Major Richard Harrison married Ann Pattillo. (Some records on James say he was born in NC.)
VIRGINIA
- Benjamin Harrison, born about 1745 in Orange Co., VA, died 1808 in Washington Co., MO. He married Mary Newell who died in 1812. He was Capt. 13th Virginia Continental Line, Augusta, VA.
- Benjamin Harrison born 1740-41 in VA died 1819 in Dayton, Rockingham Co., VA. He married Mary McClure in VA. She was born 1746 in VA. He was a Col. in the Revolution.

- Benjamin Harrison, born 1740 in VA, died 1791. He was a Patriot; signer of the Declaration of Independence; Governor of Virginia; Speaker of House of Burgesses, and member of first Continental Congress.
- Reuben Harrison, born 1755, died 1824, married Margaret (Peggy) Franklin. He was an Ensign from VA.
- Ainsworth Harrison, born 12 April, 1763, died after June 1832. He married Dolly Coleman Stone. He was a private from Virginia.
- Battaile Harrison died 1776. He married Francis White. He was Lt. from VA.
- James Harrison born 1742; died 1839. He married Betty Lampkin. He was a private from VA.
- Lovell Harrison, born about 1755-60; died 24 April, 1815. He married _____. He was a Sergeant from VA.
- Richard Harrison, died before 1816, married Susannah ___. He was a Captain from VA.
- Robert Harrison (1750-1812) served as a private, in the 11th VA Regiment of foot, 1777-79, under Capt. James Gray. He was born and died in Prince George Co., CA. He married Anne (Henrietta) Hardeman.
- Thomas Harrison (1720-1790) married 1740, Sarah Oliver. He served as a Lt. and Capt. 1778 in Militia of Rockingham Co., VA. He died in Harrisonburg. VA.
- John Harrison (1730-1827) married second, Nancy Miller. He served as a private in Capt. Gabriel Longs' Co., Col. Morgans 11th VA Regiment. He was born in Westmoreland Co; died in Fairfax Co., VA.
- Richard Harrison, born in VA. Service: Lt. of Artillery, VA troops; Capt. Of a Illinois Regiment under George Rogers Clark. He married Martha Truly, daughter of Hector Truly, and sister of Lt. Jas. Truly. Richard Harrison was in Natchez, Mississippi as early as 1781. (His children were: Philip B.; Richard; Hay Battaile. Hay Battaile served with General Hinds in 1812.)
- Ezekial Harrison (1751-1836) married 1775 Sarah Bryan (1753-1836). He was placed on the pension roll of IL, 1831, for service as a private in the Virginia Continental line. He was born in Rockingham Co., VA; died in Sagamon Co., IL.
- Richard Harrison (1757-1848) married 1784 Mary Clarkson. He enlisted 1776 from Caswell Co., NC in Capt. Saunders' Co., Col. Thaxtons' Regiment, re-enlisted 1781 from Pittsylvania Co., VA, in Capt. James Turners' Co. at the siege of Yorktown. His widow drew a pension, 1848. He was born in Goochland Co.; died in Albermarle Co., VA.

- William Harrison (1739-1811) married 1763 Anne Payne (born 1748). He was Justice of Peace of Pittsylvania Co., VA, where he died. He was born Goochland Co., VA.
- Thomas Harrison (1755-1815) married as his second wife, Hannah Dennis (1770-1830). He served as a private in the 3rd Co. Capt. Strother Jones, Col. Nathaniel Gists' Virginia Regiment, 1777. He was born in Augusta Co.; died in Tazwell Co., VA.
- Reuben Harrison (1731-1807) married first about 1756, his cousin, Lydia Harrison (1745-1780). He married second Mary McDonald. He was a Patriot, Capt. in Rockingham Co. VA Militia.
- Cuthbert Harrison, born 1758 Brunswick Co, VA; died there July, 1815. He married Elizabeth _____. He was a Capt. Brunswick Co., VA.
- Gideon Harrison, born 1762 in Augusta Co., VA; died in Rutherford Co., TN, on 8 Sept., 1838. He was a private in Capt. James Wilson's Co., Col. Sevier's NC Regiment. Battle of King's Mountain, Washington Co., TN. (was NC) He had at least one son, Gideon Valsame, born 1790, who married Zada Wright.
- Burr Harrison, born 20 Sept., 1738 in Fauquier Co., VA; died 18 August, 1822 in Chester District, SC. He married Elizabeth Dargan about 1755. She was born about 1738 in Sumter Co., SC and died in Chester Dist. SC in 1825. He was a Corpl. In Capt. Richard Lee's Co. and in Capt. Francis Morgan's Co. 1st Lt., 3rd VA Reg., Member of Faquier Co., VA Militia.
- William Butler Harrison was but 17 years old when he entered Lee's battalion of light dragoons as a cornet. He was promoted for gallantry and at the close of the war was allowed a land grant by the State of VA. He married Penelope Russell, and they had a son named Russell Butler Harrison.
NORTH CAROLINA
- Isham Harrison, born VA 1760, died Madison Co., MO 1835. He married 1783 Amy Gilliam (1763-dp1844). He was a Pvt. and Lt. Granville Co., NC.
